I recall at the time, living in Australia, we didnt really know what the hell this tourney was all about. All we knew is we had an extra month of cricket just before the footy season started. But again, we didnt know what this was all about. And as quick as it started then it was over. It doesnt even get mentioned at all these days.

Allan Lamb was perhaps The Best Ever ODI Batsman from England so far. besides bashing Courtney Walsh in last over of World Cup 1987 Match Winning, He was also The Hero of World Series Cup 1987 match against Australia when he thrashed Bruce Reid 18 runs in last over & won The Match for England miraculously . His average is almost 40 with strike rate 75 in those days when it was very difficult. He played some of The marvelous innings of English Cricket History, not only in ODI's but in Tests also especially against The Brutal West Indians fast bowlers.
