At 17:00 when you pulled the trigger in SA the hammer hits and moves the slide into battery making it able to shoot and you did in DA. I noticed on my TPR9 the extractor was sticky and needed to be worked in(worn down bit). this is what I believe is happening, the round and the extractor are not meeting up right causing the gun to not go fully into battery.

I have had one for about 6 years and had the same issue. I used different ammo and had same issues. I sent it in for warranty they found a Burr on the firing pin. And I also had to pay for the shipping. It was taken care of and it shoots fine now. Just ran 400 rounds through it last weekend.

I have had a trp9c for about 5 years and it’s been fantastic. Shoots well, aims well, easy recoil, comfortable, easy to operate and clean. I have never had a single malfunction in it. Easiest gun to take apart. I’ve always had it on my bucket list to get the full size someday. I’ve especially been happy with it being da/sa hammer fired and the wonderful safety/decocker. Great trigger. It’s a tank. Sorry to see you had issues with yours. I’ve never had a single round fail to fire. I’ve put a variety of ammo brands through it through the years and never experienced what happened to you. My only complaints is that is a little chunky for iwb carry. Also I wish that it had an option for a 15 round mag. Spare mags can generally be a little hard to find. I understand the full sized mag should fit the compact but no one makes a sleeve for it. I wish they would make a subcompact version of this or a single stack. Or just something a little thinner and easier for iwb carry but keeping all the features. Dedicated holsters can be hard to come by too. I would definitely recommend this gun as a quality gun for anyone who doesn’t want to spend Sig p229 prices for a similar gun. I reached out to bersa once in my life for a problem I had with a bersa thunder 380cc. They were very helpful. They shipped a replacement gun which I had in my hand in about 2 weeks.

It's the Magtec ammo . everything I have has the same light primer strike issues when using it.

Unfortunately, when I got it back, I also tried Fiocchi which failed to fire and that same box of Magtec worked fine with my other 9mms.

I've had these guns on my radar for a long time. My concern with your review is that you appear to have used only one brand/weight of ammo for your test. The first thing I look at when I have light strikes is the ammo. You might have a bad box, or just cheap ammo altogether. Although, I've never had a problem with Magtech. I would try at least two other brands of ammo before writing off an otherwise good gun.

This is the only questionable review I’ve ever seen. I’ve been an owner since the first version about 7 years and 1000+ rounds later I have never had a single issue. I’ve never seen anyone ever question reliability or feeding. Maybe he got a dud?

The misfires are being caused by the slide not going fully forward (watch the back of the slide/frame interface). Could be weak recoil spring, something slowing down the slide while reciprocating, etc. I’ve noticed on my Thunder9 and TPR9 that the springs are a little light as compared to other 9mms I have. Have not had any issues. IMO, if shot more and any rough surfaces smooth out, slide travel will be more smoother and faster reducing failures. Stronger spring would work but would need to find the right size to drop in.
@jimpumphrey7713
@jimpumphrey7713 4 ай бұрын
And maybe a little oil might help. It could also be the ammo. To me it appears the extractor isn't fully engaging the rim of the round so probably a bur or lack of lube or cheap ammo. But I agree with you that a longer break-in period would likely solve the problem.

I have both the TPR9 full size and the TPR9C and they have worked great for me. I have been carrying the TPR9c for almost 4 years now. The best thing of any Bersa is their trigger, smooth and super short reset. The bad thing and only thing I have change was the sights, they are plastic and known to brake off while shooting. I replaced both guns sights as soon as I bought them. All in all they are good litte guns that don't brake the bank.

Hello, I am Argentine and I own 3 Bersa pistols. Thunder 22X caliber 22lr, BP40CC caliber .40 S&W and TPR9T caliber 9mm. Keep in mind that I also have CZ, Tanfoglio, S&W, Beretta, Taurus, Colt, Browning, Keltec pistols and a Hatsan semi-automatic shotgun. I like guns and shooting with them in caliber .22lr, 9mm, .40 S&W and .45ACP. Bersa pistols are of very good quality, resistant and with a great variety. It would be good if you paid attention to these weapons, since they are at the same level as other very selected ones in the USA and have nothing to envy.

I had the exact same happen to mine and it only got worse. Through the warranty it was shipped to American Arsenal and Armory in Indiana. I spoke to them on the phone and they were familiar with this problem. They replaced the safety block and another part. Since getting the gun back I've put boxes of rounds through and have total confidence as a ccw. I would highly recommend getting this work done and keeping it.

I've had one of these since 2019 and have only had one failure and that was a stovepipe when my daughter-in-law was shooting it. Just to note some of the differences between your gun and mine is that the magazine is not nearly that loose, and my trigger pull is much firmer. I double checked several older reviews and the double action pull was reading about 9+ lbs with the single action pull at just under 5 lbs. This makes me think that your hammer spring is a quite a bit lighter than most. Also @RonV535 commented about the out of battery issue. At the 18:32 point in your video is the clearest view of the slide jumping into battery as the gun mis-fires then it was able to fire on the next pull. I think this in the case in all the other mis-fires. Another Gun-tuber who was testing target ammo came across some Magtech ammo (rounds that I have shot frequently with no issues) that created a similar issue. Hhis box had rounds that measured just out of specs, in fact some cases were slightly oval. Hopefully this is the case and not a bad chamber or other problems. I guess that the magazine fitment could create this problem too. I also checked the sights on my gun and they stick to a magnet so they are steel of some new plastic that is magnetic. Anyhow I love my gun and to answer you question about the quality of new guns, I think the quality of everything has been slipping for some time.

Good video about the gun. I have to say though, that I didn't see you switching the ammo to a different brand to rule out the possibility of the ammo being at fault. Also, the loose magazine can affect feeding but not cause a missfire. Once the cartridge is in the chamber, its got to fire if the primer is hit with enough force. First time I see a review showing any kind of failure in this gun.

I have a discontinued Bersa Thunder .40 S&W from the 90s that I inherited from my late brother. It's DA/SA, manual safety/decocker, 7.5", 13+1. I like it other than it is heavy for me to shoot one handed as my wrist gets tired and the muzzle drops. I have pretty small hands so a 6" gun or so works better for me. The hard part is finding one with all of the features of the 90s gun with less of the size. It's really a two handed compact duty pistol more than a real one handed concealed carry gun. But it seems like once you get around 6" almost every gun becomes plastic striker fired junk with fewer features. Right now pretty much only Beretta and H&K offer a combined decocker/manual safety in a subcompact gun. H&Ks are expensive and their decocker is in a weird location behind the cocked hammer. Beretta's PX Storm Carry is still a bit big at 6.8" and their safety/decockers tend to be high up and behind the thumb. It also looks like a stapler. About the only difference between this gun and the Thunder .40 S&W is the 9mm shaves off an inch in length. I would expect closer to 6" considering nearly 30 years of technological progress. What's the benefit of going to 9mm in a gun this large when I have a .40 S&W with a more powerful round, same ammo count, and exactly the same features? An inch in smaller size isn't enough to justify the tradeoff. Where are extremely small, high capacity, DA/SA hammer fired guns? Not everyone wants a Glock or Sig P365 clone. I wish CZ made their 75 Compact as a subcompact or micro compact with a manual safety/decocker/DA/SA. Even better a Browning Hi Power clone with all the features of the Bersa in a subcompact/micro size. There really is no excuse for every gun not to have these features as at least options because they allow more conditions of carry. Modern new shooters just don't want to learn how all the controls of a 1911 style gun works, and gun enthusiasts are offended at the thought of a thumb safety. Thumb down on the upswing. Decock before holstering. Train. That easy.

The Bersa TPR9C - A Great Gun (When It Actually Works) No I have not had any of those problems with my TPR9C. No misfires, no out of battery, and no loose mags. Send yours back in under warranty and get it fixed. Mine is accurate and reliable with over 600 rounds of various ammo and still flawless. I bought it back around 2017. It is my favorite sub compact. I will say I have seen others only have problems including catastrophic failure with reloaded ammo that Bersa says to not use or void warranty I think like most manufacturers. It is even worse if that reloaded ammo is lead bullets where plain lead builds up very quickly in that polygonal barrel and key holing will happen or worse. I shoot mostly just factory ammo in it or if I do use my reloads then they are powder coat or jacketed bullets.

Hello friends of the da gun gay channel. The problem you had with your TPRC is quite common here in Argentina, I saw pistols coming out of the box that had the rear sight blown off or the retainer broken slinding. Other luckier ones have had them for years without any problem, this indicates that qualitycontrol fails. Personally, seeing all these flaws in Bersa as in its competitor Taurus ( witch does not have a lifetime warranty), i chose to buy supeior quality weapons,for example H&K or CZ or Beretta. Surely someone would have had a problem with any of these brands, but surely many less than with Bersa or Taurus, etc. From Bs As Argentina,cordial greetings.

Saludos

I own one of these. This is the ONLY negative review I have ever seen of this pistol. I bought it for all the features you mentioned And the reviews I read on it. Honestly I haven't got to shoot it yet. But My 1st thought watching your video was as Others have said. Try Different Ammo. By judging the gun Without Eliminating the Ammo First your doing a dis-service to Bersa, the Gun itself, and your viewers.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I tried a bunch of different ammo. The gun was defective - sent back and eventually fixed. We'll have the follow up video out shortly.

I’ve taken my gun in twice for the same issue. I don’t want that gun or a replacement. I want my money back. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYaygZqbfb9om7c&si=Lzo0eFL3vrRWiD5C That video is for the Spanish-speaking audience. The next one will be on a channel consumed in the North and aimed at an English-speaking audience. Please, people in the United States, do not buy these guns. They are of poor quality, and the company's after-sales policy is nonexistent.

100% crap! Bersa is not used by Arg armed forces. The .380 has onlyan external resemble to the ppk; it has a completely different trigger system and different dissasembly procedure.

It is my understanding that: at the end of the 1990s Bersa won the contract for supplying a new standard sidearm for the Argentine Armed Forces and Argentine Federal Police that were looking to replace their aging Browning Hi-Power pistols. The Bersa Thunder 9, an evolution of the Model 90, was chosen.

@@DaGunGuy Indeed Bersa is mainly a supplier of the different police forces in Argentina but it also provided guns to the armed forces which also still use their old HP35s as part of their equipment. Now the .380 Bersa although nowadays shares the word "thunder" as part of their name, has nothing to do with the TPR models. Is more like the bulked up version of the traditional Bersa .22lr pistol. Regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Have had one of these for several years now, got it from a pawn shop and it has never had a jam, a misfire, or issue of any type after hundreds of rounds. Any and all ammo, including remanufactured. For those who enjoy this pistol, you can carry it in a leather holster from JM4 Tactical or a kydex holster from either Clinger or Pyntek Holsters. Sorry you got a bad one. Mine has been a tank.

I'n not sure if I'd consider Magtech "trash" ammo. It works fine in all the other pistols I ran it through. Also, it seems like it's a pretty common problem for people based on the other comments. BUT, as a general rule, I agree with trying to avoid "range" ammo or super cheap ammo.

Bro, I've been running cheap steel case Magtech ammo for almost 2 months now. Over 2,000 rounds shared between 6 guns and not one problem. I'm not knocking the gun, but I'm sure his needs a heavier main spring.
