A detailed look at the Ruger Mark IV Target pistol on its 75th anniversary.
So, much like my anniversary, I got some dates a little off ...
The Ruger Mark I was produced until 1982 when they started making the Mark II until 2005 not 2016. Then there was an overlap with the Mark III which started production in 2004 until 2016. Then they began making the Mark IV in 2016 (not 2020) to present with the current line-up remaining the same pretty much the same through 2020 and NOW they've added a 75th anniversary addition.
Apologies to Ruger ... "next year I promise to remember the dates right honey." And, thanks to our commenter who helped point out my mistake so we could correct it! Other than that, the video is perfect ;).

My dad broke the firing pin on his MKIII . So I called Ruger to get a replacement. They sent me one along with a couple of spares. Great customer service.

I've always had a good experience with Ruger's cs. When I was trying to find out a specific wrench to use on the LCP Custom, they spent a lot of time helping me even though it was a very old model.

We have the 22/45 lite, and it has been an excellent firearm...we had been shopping (not real hard) for a .22 target pistol, and when the mark iv came out, with the super easy breakdown, we jumped on it...we are not super great good shots, but that is on us (try being a senior with bad eyesight!)...the gun runs and runs, easy to clean, just can't say enough good things about it...

I really like the Mark IV. I've shot the Mark III and liked the results but can't speak to the quality of the III but agree Ruger CS is always very good.

DA gun guy? Pretend the Bears stuff isn’t in the background. “Da Gun Guy” says dis guy is obviously from da Midwest, Great Lakes region of America…and dats a great place to be from. I’m glad you don’t have a boring 25 or 30 second canned intro. Just straight into it. Nicely done, Sir. Just yesterday I ordered a Mark IV Target from Bud’s. Looking forward to its arrival. GO LIONS!!!

I can't imagine a more fun gun to shoot. Love my mk IV lite. Just put some fiber optic sights on it and the accuracy is awesome.

I love these guns so much fun, l got the 10inch model in 2020 when that model was released, the mk3 wasn’t offered with a 10inch barrel for some reason, it looks kinda goofy and is heavy as hell I think 52 ounces but I shoot it damn near every day and I can’t remember the last time I used my 10/22 enough about me , you picked a tough time to start but hang in there Rome wasn’t built in a day and you’ve got the personality for it and that’s the most important thing I’m looking forward to the shooting portion thank you!

I have a MKII 22/45. Bought it used and it came with 6 magazines. Unfortunately, it jams a lot, even with high velocity rounds. I’ll have to call Ruger and see if I can send it back

I bought my 22/45 with 6" barrel NIB in 2004. I've probably shot close to 15,000 rounds or more during competition and just for fun. I've had a few missfires due to a cheap ammo, but nothing else. Maybe the longer barrel helps for better cycling? It does not cycle subsonic rounds because of the lower pressure, but that's OK with me.

I miss my mk 2 stainless steel I traded it fo a ruger super blackhawk 11 7/8th inch 44magnum. The 44 was 260.00 used minus 20.00 deposit. My mk 2 only had 2 scratches both at the take down lever

I thought Ruger stopped making the Mark 2 in 2005 and started the mark 3, then stopped the mark 3 in 2016 and started the mark 4 to present day?

You asked for criticism so; (1:23) It's not "Strom", it's "Sturm", pronounced "Sterm". And I'd be happy to do without the cartoon inserts. I know that everyone is using them now but your review was very good and I don't think that they add anything. Subbed.

You should NEVER dry fire a .22. Damages the firing pin and the chamber.
@DaGunGuy
@DaGunGuy 3 ай бұрын
Certain 22s are fine with dry firing, like the SR22 other not so much, like the Henry Classic Lever Action .22. As a general rule, what you say is a very good and reasonable practice BUT when in doubt, I always like to read the manual (Ruger Mark IV Manual., Page 14): "Going through the actions of cocking, aiming and pulling the trigger on an unloaded firearm is known as “dry firing.” It can be useful to learn the “feel” of your pistol. Be certain that the pistol is fully unloaded (both the chamber and magazine are empty) and that the pistol is pointing in a safe direction when you are practicing dry firing. The RUGER MARK IV pistol can be dry fired but a snap cap is strongly recommended for anything more than occasional dry fire practice."

Did you call him STRum? Did you refer to the GRIP as a "handle" ? The BOLT is a "guide rail"?

Never fire a .22LR anything without a round or a snap cap in it, you will cause damage to the chamber.

Some more modern designs are safe to dry fire. Always check the manual though. If it says not to dry fire, don't dry fire. If it doesn't mention it, assume that you shouldn't dry fire it. if it specifically (like the ruger wrangler) says that it is safe to dry fire, go for it!

The pre-MK iv design was a total nightmare to disassemble/reassemble. Worst design ever. It only took 70 years or so to improve it.

The Mark II is my favorite of the series. The changes in the Mark III and IV are not necessary. I see no benefit to the Mark IV takedown. Furthermore, I hate the magazine safety, which is way worse than the extra 2 seconds required to break down the Mark II.
