Awesome review! I run AVerMedia's socials and am in charge of making documentation for the cam - if you have any questions, LMK! The image going jagged from unrelated adjustments (then being fixed by resetting sharpness) is a known issue, and HQ is already working on fixing it~ Also, the lack of autofocus is intentional, as webcam autofocus can be lacking/have issues (too slow, cause pixelation, change focus when you don't want it to), which is why most of our cams have fixed focus. Anyways, thanks again for the review, and I'll be sharing it on our socials today!

The 513 requires studio lighting otherwise it's worse than my 10 year old logitech. Is the 315 better for day to day work without a key light?

USB 3 is backwards compatible, yes.

Cannot adjust FOV but the camera software let's you zoom and reframe at will, so if you don't want a wide shot then you can control that there still.

Are you sure you are getting the exact version of the camengine software from the product's download page and not somewhere else? Should detect it just fine, might be in a drop down. I would download it again and make sure you're getting it from there to be safe.

Shouldn't make a difference, 3.0 is backwards compatible.

If you are a student, the only thing that matters is sound quality. A $3-4 lavalier mic from China will sound much better that this camera.
