@agro_maniac4 жыл бұрын
1. With good care, grafted avocado will usually start bearing fruit in the 4th year in our tropical country. 2. Scions should be taken from trees whose varieties are valid, that the fruit is of good quality, although not yet bearing fruit it doesn't matter.

Hi, great video! I have 2 questions: - I'm in France, would you recommand spring or summer to graft avocado? - Do you cut all leaves for grafting? or rootstock/scion have leaves?
@agro_maniac3 жыл бұрын
Thx 🙏 1. I think spring is better 2. For Rootstock can leave the leaves, because the part that is cut is the shoot. As for scions, it's best to remove all of the leaves.

@agro_maniac2 жыл бұрын
You don't have to use special grafting tape, because I also often do grafts using ordinary plastic that I attach to the two stem incisions. It's just that we need to remove this type of plastic manually when the grafting process has been successful. 🙏

To be used as a rootstock, it does not need to have been fruitful. But for Scion, at least of the clearly valid, even if never fruiting varieties before, it doesn't matter.

Hi ,greetings from Armenia 🇦🇲 need your advice. I have planted 2 trees from avocado seed. And now I want graft them. There is no avocado trees in my country. Can I graft them two each other ?
@agro_maniac4 жыл бұрын
You can graft them two each other. But, you will not get any benefit from the grafting. If there is no avocado tree at all, you better just take care of the seedling until later it bears fruit, even though it will take a very long time. Thx 🙏
@michaelkovacev61084 жыл бұрын
Does the graft have to be perfectly cut, can there be a small gap?
@agro_maniac4 жыл бұрын
Actually the incision doesn't have to be absolutely perfect. In principle it only attaches / fuses the rootstock incision and the scion incision which still has a cambium, so a slight gap in my opinion is not a problem. But it would be much better if there were no gaps at all.. 😁
@michaelkovacev61084 жыл бұрын

how far from the soil do you cut the rootstock? can you cut far, so when your graft fails, you just cut lower and repeat the grafting? how long do you wait to consider your graft successful, when it has turned black in a few weeks?
@agro_maniac4 жыл бұрын
This video only shows the grafting incision method only. How far I cut the rootstock from the soil depends on the condition of the rootstock. If the rootstock is still very young, where in the middle the stem is full of cambium from top to bottom, you can cut it anywhere from top to bottom, this can be done. However, if the rootstock is 1.5 months and older, I usually cut it only at the top of the stem. Because at that age, in the middle of the rootstock stem is usually already filled with a kind of cork tissue. So that grafting is easier to do at the top of the stem. Please check my other videos, because actually I have explained this. Thx 🙏
