We bought a few of these Mirka AROP units for stock and one for myself over the Holidays thinking we might sell a few to our customers but they have proven too difficult to move inventory selling these to make sense on promoting these at the price point. We are selling our last Mirka kit with 3 batteries at actual jobber cost on our website now and still people are balking at the lower price. The machine is solid we use Mirka Ceros and Deros machines in our shop since 2010 and they are designed for continuous use and production environments and this little machine is the same in terms of build and power. For the 10.8v it uses this little guy has some torque and you can feel it. I just think there are soo many lesser costly options that will be easier to sell in the detailing and weekend warrior markets that makes the Mirka a tough unit for most to digest financially. But if you want the absolute best and most powerful 3 inch unit this is definitely the one. I did a video on it as well and its a cool machine to have if you can afford it.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Phil. Yeah I saw your review. I agree, in terms of quality it’s hard to beat. Smoothness of operation, little to no vibration and the fact it is super quiet compared to most others in its category are its strong points. I would have liked a trigger lock, not a deal breaker, but the eye watering price tag is its weakest point. Matt at Obsessed Garage apparently has sold many so far, so I guess it depends who your clientele is.

@@PanTheOrganizer yes no idea why no trigger lock and i thought the Bluetooth app would allow some sort of lock but non the less it is a professional grade tool not designed for most retail buyers and more geared to a pro and shop user like myself. It is so quiet it makes the Rupes sound like a broken machine lol You gotta check out Dynabrade air tools one day this is what I use on large metal polishing jobs you can not kill these tools but you need a real air compressor set up to really get the most out of them..

You forgot one that has FAR more flexibility in my book: THE BOSS HYBRID MICRO POLISHER. Given its price point and features it should be on everyone's radar. Hence, it does 3", 2" and 1". Not only is it a DA orbital but also a butter; quick connect/disconnect; low sound; adjustable head positioning and a fantastic case to store it all in. Also, it comes with an adjustable trigger power and let's not forget Life Time Warranty. I hope you get to test it out Pan....cheers. Lastly, thank you for all the great content you provide us.

Yeah the trigger lock would have been nice, but as I mainly use this for pillars and smaller areas, I don’t use it for hours on end like a polisher on large flat panels, so it’s not a deal breaker. But hopefully they add a trigger lock on a future version. Matt from OG said he’s in discussions with Mirka to see if they can do something within the existing software perhaps.

If you were going to buy only one polisher, would this be it? Is it better to get a larger polisher and a mini or just get this mini? Can it do it all? They have a rotary as well, I might pick up the pair. I have a PXE 80, and with a 3" pad you can't go rotary. Corded tools will do it, but they are loud and the cord is annoying. Even though I'm just a DIY'er and occasional weekend warrior (for friends/family) I want this polisher. I'm willing to save up for it and make the investment, mostly because I love awesome tools and this fits the bill. That said, I'm holding off for now for 2 reasons: 1. The lack of a trigger lock. I'm in my early 40s and have the early stages of arthritis in my hands, so I cannot hold onto the trigger for extended periods of time without pain. Matt mentioned that he has had some meetings with Mirka regarding this, I'm hopeful that they will find a way to incorporate some sort of lock. The OG team had the idea that maybe they could program in a double-tap of the trigger to engage a locked-on mode. 2. The speed range is way too high. Managing heat while polishing is important, and the Mirka does not make that easy. If they would lower the bottom of the speed range to 2,000 it would be perfect. For reference, the lowest speed on the Mirka is equivalent to speed 3 on the Flex PXE-80. I rarely exceed that speed when polishing, so the entire speed range of the Mirka is kind of a waste (other than drying pads after cleaning them in my pad washer). I've been looking at the Rupes HLR75, but that resonant vibration/sound is keeping me from pulling the trigger. It looks like they were really able to dial in the sound/smoothness on the HLR15 and 21 cordless machines, so I'm kind of hoping they find a way to eventually tweak the HLR75 to match that.

Hi Pan. I’m new to your channel - was searching for polisher reviews and yours came up in search. I’m not a pro. Just like to wash my own car by hand and never take it to car wash. Have mini cooper and Honda civic. Recently I have been looking into getting a polisher and getting into the world of paint correction, instead of paying local business to do it. I’m looking to use the polisher for paint correction on the civic - never been done and needs some work - 2014 model. My mini had paint correction done professionally and ceramic coating in 2022. Eventually I would like to do it again, but myself this time. I’m torn here. I don’t mind to spend money one time for a polisher. I definitely would like it to be battery operated vs cable. I love the Mirka style and size, but I also know it’s only 3”. How crazy this sounds to do paint correction on my cars with the mirka only? Let’s say I have time and no rush as profesional place would be limited under. Is investing this type of money into mirka only, a crazy idea? If yes, what would be your recommendation for my needs? As mentioned earlier, I don’t mind invest once for years to come. Just don’t know if the 3” idea only is simply crazy? Thank you.

I just started using one of these and, it’s every bit as good as people are saying. My only criticism is that just like the 1st gen Deros and Deos sanders, there is no visual indicator of your speed. The just released 2nd gen Deros and Deos now have a visual indicator, Mirka does take on feedback.

I just got mine and I still have the Rupes too. Mirka is just on another level. The biggest problem with Rupes is that they released a new tool at the end of 2022 with old brushed technology and somehow it is the loudest polisher I have ever used in any size. At speeds higher than 3 the vibration is unbearable. Then there is the trigger design flaw... I am just excited for the new Rupes hlr15 which is finally transitioning to the brushless technology.

Mirka makes some awesome products and always have. But as Pan says initially. It comes down to PRICE, which is quite high. I have the PXE-80, but one other polisher I am looking at is the new Griot's micro polisher with the pivoting head which looks like a pretty cool feature on a small polisher that can be adjusted to get into really tight places. This Mirka looks incredible though. If Matt is going to sell this in his store on Obsessed Garage, it will no doubt be a successful polisher and will be seen in the future with both professional detailers and weekend enthusiasts who enjoy using the very best products. This polisher sounds absolutely incredible with the sound reducing attributes of this polisher compared to the others. That could be a huge benefit and many people may buy this unit for the sound deadening properties alone. It's almost silent compared to the other polishers. It comes down to...if you want to play.......you've got to pay. But, I do really like that there is almost no vibration and almost no sound. That could be worth it. Almost $900 is STEEP though. But for a professional or detailers that polish on a daily basis, yes, I absolutely think this would be worth it. Mirka is the top of the line when it comes to sanders. Buff Daddy has been selling Mirka products for MANY years. Mirka products last a long time which is why they are well known in the sanding industry and really buffing cars is a final stage of what body shops do mostly and Mirka has been around for the long haul. Plus, the Fins' make some incredible products. They are like Germany and Italy. They take serious pride in making the very best products that last a long time. Their theory is the exact opposite of the North America Economic Model which is to make and sell something that self destructs in 3 to 5 years and you have to buy something new. In Europe and up into Scandinavia, their theory is make the very best product that lasts forever or can be maintained and/or repaired with minimal effort and keep on going for many more years! That's how America used to be. You could actually get things repaired quite easily at many different repair shops or the repairman would come to you, fix the product, and the product would continue going for many more years.
@555fourthstreet87 ай бұрын

Can you do a video review on 1" polishers or best flexible shaft system?
@stever76387 ай бұрын
Well done review, thank you again. I want to add my personal opinion and I would absolutely choose the Mirka.....HOWEVER.. There's NO CHANCE I would pay $800+ for a 1 year warranty...for a DA sander, basically what it is. Yes, handle is angled, smooth and quiet. Even the Flex is absurdly overpriced. Manufacturers need to understand, quality tools aren't excluded from DIYer's. Seems in the recent years, certain aspects of automotive detailing looks more reserved for owners of expensive cars...it's like buying bubblewrap from Uline or an 18V impact from Snap-On. What about the average DIY owner who wants to keep their vehicle looking and protected the best they can, with long-term durability, without breaking the bank?
@PanTheOrganizer7 ай бұрын
Yeah I agree on the eye watering price. But it does deliver on class leading performance, quietness and smoothness of operation. This is mainly for the pro detailer that does a lot of polishing on a daily basis, or a prosumer that has a big budget and simply wants the best. You sometimes get what you pay for. But there are more affordable polishers that can still do a great job for those with a smaller budget or who polish cars only once or twice a year. Great video. Im in the market for a good 3 inch polisher. The price is high, but so is the quality. Is that a deal breaker? No. But the non trigger lock is. Sorry, Mirka. Pan, does it look like you could put extensions on it? Cant wait for your review of the new cordless Rupes. Thank you.
@PanTheOrganizer7 ай бұрын
I’m not sure if it has power cord options. The trigger lock would have been nice, but I only use the 3” for smaller areas or b-pillars so I don’t mind it. It would have been a deal breaker for me if a 5” or 6” polisher used for long polishing sessions didn’t have a trigger lock.

Luckily for them in terms of balance, performance, smoothness of operation and super quiet operation, they kill the competition hands down. If they can add a trigger lock and somehow sell it for 100-200$ less, there is zero competition in my opinion. Pretty much everyone who has tested this agrees on the performance aspect. I was a tad bit skeptic of what others were saying, but after putting it to the test, I have to admit that it really is that good.

Non.

@PanTheOrganizer7 ай бұрын
There’s no doubt it’s better in every possible way in terms of performance. The Mirka is more compact, way smoother to operate, much quieter, even more powerful, etc. It’s only big negative other than lack of trigger lock is the super expensive price.
@bribri28397 ай бұрын
Ridiculous pricing. Worth it? Not to me. Sticker shock is real over here. I was excited until the price. Can't justify 2x pricing.
@AmirAbdullah7 ай бұрын
Thr Mirka doesn’t do 2” right ? It’s only a 3” right now? If not it might be super smooth and plenty of power but the Flex is a better buy it does anything from 3” to 1” and a rotary it’s a much more versatile unit and it’s cheaper. Will the finish be better than the flex or the Rupes ? It’s not worth the price vs the finish you get being you can get the same from the other machines at a less expensive price. No way is it the best 3” polisher.

I'm not an expert. But I believe that it got a stepper motor which controls precisely by silicon chip. That's why it is smooth, silent, not producing much heat, no need of vents, low energy consumption. And since they already put a chip in it, they put a Wi-Fi and app. And as I know, Mirka developed this system for OEM market. So the individual consumers market is probably just a side effect of OEM market shrinking. So I'm not expecting they're going to expand the list with 5". The price of this technology is too high for individuals. Potential market is small and not worth the efforts. PS I bought a Mirka kit which contain 3" and 1" orbital + 3" rotary. Can't wait for the winter end to test it.

Yes it is for sure a nice polisher but it doesn’t make sense to pay this much for a 3” polisher that you’ll only ever need to use for maybe 5% of the time since 5” polisher is able to handle the majority of the work. The biggest difference for me is the sound but I am always listening to music or podcast through my headphones so the sound doesn’t bother me
@PanTheOrganizer7 ай бұрын
If you don’t polish cars often it’s not worth the price. I agree. But for those who polish on a daily or weekly basis and/or have the budget, it’s without a doubt the best 3” polisher on the market right now.
@RichardLongh7 ай бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer I would guess most of the people here aren’t correcting paint on a daily or weekly basis. Even if this were the case 5” polishers are able to tackle 80-90% of the work in almost every situation. The amount of time a 3” is needed is very little which is why I believe paying $900 for this polisher a low iq (even if it is within your budget) move as the exact same results are achieved with the much cheaper options. I totally understand that you feel it is the best 3” but why would it matter that much for a tool that is barely needed and doesn’t provide a better finish? If you’re the type that enjoys telling people that you spent $900 on a 3” polisher or that it’ll somehow mean you are a better detailer then definitely, knock yourself out. This is for sure the one for you. 👍
@PanTheOrganizer7 ай бұрын
Richard, there is no need for name calling and belittling people who simply want the best. That’s like saying someone has low IQ for driving a Porsche when a Toyota can also bring you from point A to point B. Really? That is a childish way of thinking. Belittling those with bigger budgets or who just want the best just because you can’t afford it, or you find it ridiculous, doesn’t make your argument valid. Please be respectful to others. Live your life, and let people be. I test products and tools at different price points, as I have viewers with different experience levels, needs, and budgets. This is a car detailing channel after all. If I was just always testing entry level 150$ polishers, I would get tons of questions on the mid tier and higher end polishers. I hope you can appreciate that. That being said, can a 150$ polisher still allow you to accomplish great results? Sure it can. What’s most important is the person behind the polisher. A better polisher can simply make your experience better with less noise and vibration, a bit more power, and likely last longer. But you can certainly get good polishers for significantly less money. Case in point, I have a video on affordable polishers here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqezdJ55pr14p5Isi=xwJKTgtEGrCMqyY4
@RichardLongh7 ай бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer name calling? Possibly you replied on the wrong comment? I do my best to keep from name calling. I wasn’t belittling anyone. Even you pointed out there are people out there who have the budget and wouldn’t care about spending $900 for this polisher just so they can have something that they believe is “the best”. If someone felt belittled by what was said I would like that say that this wasn’t my intention. As far as the low iq move there is a difference between that and saying someone has a low iq. People with high iq’s can make a low iq move. I wasn’t calling anyone dumb. Te example you gave isn’t the same either comparing the Porsche and Camry as those who own vehicles generally use them on a daily basis. Even then, there would be many who would agree that paying for a Porsche priced vehicle that would only be needed or used
