The various Epic Ordinati were always great. Other than that, the second edition Space Marine Dreadnought and the Vyper (with its clear canopy!) and then the glorious return of the Land Raider for third edition are all personal faves. The final slot belongs to any number of ships from the '91 Space Fleet, maybe the Imperial assault ship with the teeth and enormous claws? Utterly impractical, utterly 40k.

Fun video! I read recently in some article or somin' that Jes came up with the base design language for the Eldar coming back from a Formula 1 race or F1 car show or something like that. I guess the sleek aerodynamic curves. Good choices all around! :) Love the eldar jet bike and the og Rhino! I got a flashback when you popped the images for the Iron Claw minis as I recognized the Dwarf Booze Brothers that a friend of mine had and I had that Squat Hovercar. They were just random purchases somewhere in Sweden made back then.

The two that really got me into 40k; the Fire Prism and the Basilisk. I started in the hobby around the time the Fire Prism was brought out and it just won me over. Sleek looks, whopping great big (metal) crystal weaponry and it featured in a White Dwarf battle report where it kept one-tapping the same Predator over-and-over after a techmarine kept bringing it back. Then the Basilisk was just simply because it's got a whopping great cannon on it and it's range was basically the entire county you where playing in! 😂Hard not to love it, and it looks amazing still! You're not wrong on the Grot tanks though! Those things are quality! 👌

You know, I keep thinking back to Titan Legions. That was actually a damn fun game, out of the box. Rare at that time (Pace WQ & BB) when the 'starter' was just a few basic troops, good only for a basic intro/demo, not a full game. But a giant Imperial robot with babby robots against not one but two giant ork robots with cool ork cars? Fun, asymmetrical, and a fiver on a plastic box set or two was a significant expansion to your forces. Also, I think we were at the same game day, odd thought.

The vehicle that immediately comes to mind when I think of my favorite is the Sisters of Battle Immolator. ❤🔥 Whether it's carrying dominions with flamers or retributors with heavy-flamers, I just *love* the idea of a tank with twin-linked heavy flamers carrying a modest squad of flame thrower ladies. 🥰 My runner-ups are the skimmer vehicles of the Dark Eldar. Raiders are especially fun! 💜

The princeps of an imperator titan must be quite confident in the power of their machine, the sheer destructive power they control. The captain of the smallest escort class ship looks at it and shrugs. The scale of the battles in space is factors higher, just impossible to comprehend.

One could easily compile a "best vehicles" list for each faction in 40k; the stark clash of styles really elevates each faction. As you touched on with the jetbikes, Eldar vehicles look as sleek as they do precisely because ork vehicles are so ramshackle, and so on. I would like to include an honourable mention to all of the Battlefleet Gothic ships. I have a soft spot for the retrofit-for-war Tau Merchant vessels, but the top spot has to go to the Imperial fleet. Just looking at them, you can feel these massive ships straining against their own inertia as they slowly turn and line up a broadside attack.

Macharius Vanquisher. I like the idea that it is just attainable enough that your average regiment/high-end PDF could actually hope to get a platoon of them, and just powerful enough to surprise the meanest threats they might actually run into.

For me there is no more iconic 40k vehicle that brings back fond memories of my youth than the infamous Speed Stick Grav Attack Vehicle originally from a White Dwarf 'Eavy Metal article. However I first came across it in the 40k Compendium for 1st edition. I remember trying to build one of these babies back in high school, and ruined 2 perfectly good sticks of deodorant in the process. I love it so much that at the FLGS I now own we made it the subject of one of our monthly painting competitions last year.

Can't disagree with your choices, but just as easily could swap one or 2 with other choices as well. There's just too many good vehicles in 40K's history that I love that I'd have to have a bigger list! Still love the 2nd Predator, regardless of the insanity of gluing metal gun sponsons to a plastic Rhino chassis that was already a bit flimsy.
@theoneandonlysoslappy5 ай бұрын
Jordan, I think making a list like this myself would actually be too hard. The only vehicle I think I could guarantee would be on it would be Rick Priestly's mentioned fragrant hover tank. Apart from it's sheer inspirational presence, I am nostalgic for a time when Games Workshop actively encouraged players to take ownership of their games, creating scratch-built models, imagining their own scenarios, and writing their own rules. Obviously, players can STILL do this but it takes a kind of mental fortitude nowadays that once was the default position for tabletop gamers. Too many gamers now feel compelled to abide by the "official" position on rules and lore, rather than treating them like suggestions or a starting point for games (unlike computer games) we actually own in their entirety and nobody can tell us otherwise.

Great selection. Im glad the titan you picked was at epic scale. I've never been able to get my head around the 40k ones, any of the supermassive vehicles if I'm honest, as a Space Marine player in the 90s they're just not big enough! My favourite vehicle has to be the old Squat Heavy weapon trikes.
