Forager discord regular here. I meant to watch this when you first posted it in the discord but kinda forgot about it but that is bisides the point here. What I'm more so here to comment on is of course as you'd expect the end of forager. It was a great game with great devs and great passion the multiplayer beta is fully playable to this day with only minor bugs and some crashes that could be ironed out in the span of a year at most. The end of development was not them giving up due to the unfixability of the game but rather because of internal issues (as you of course already touched on) which we don't know much more apart from the posts you mentioned about. Development was going on perfectly until Nommiin (more or less the lead dev (or well the last dev since the others dropped out earlier iirc (it's been 3 years I don't remember everything perfectly))) posted the last multiplayer update and everything going silent for a while. After the 2 posts by hop were made it was more or less over for forager with us (me included for at least a little while) trying to hold the community up since hop was still around hyping up the next game in the universe Forager Empires which was supposed to be an animal crossing style forager game and Lost Nova developed by the promotional artist of forager and published by hop similar to Nova Lands. Lost Nova actually released and is a great game. It's a little short but it's Jon's first game and he did an amazing job on it! I loved the game (granted I would not have bought it if I didn't get it for free but I'm not really into story games) I would definitely recommend people to play it. Additionally Job is wroking on other games too. Witchhand (a sandbox building cardgame of sorts) was one that recently released and Mechanibot (a roguelike strategy combat game where you build a team of robots that fight waves of monsters) being one of my favourite games I've ever played. Now back after (deservably) shilling Jon I want to go back to forager and where I left of. We were still supporting hop since he was still doing great things and the apology in my eyes did seems genuine for the entirety of forager he has always stated he has never done this and matter of fact it was his first game that overnight catapulted him to the top of indie game development and put him under insane amounts of stress. How would you deal with the situation if overnight millions of people were waiting for your next move expectation rising but you yourself knowing that you barely know anything about game development. He hired people that knew what they were doing while he had to somehow keep the facade up of having control since there was no going back without a massive collapse. But that has been 3 years ago. Times have changed. Hop has never come back to us explaining what went down but rather ignoring everyon e pretending like everything's fine teasing some new forager stuff that's most likely not gonna go anywhere and that makes me annoyed. Are these millions of people genuinly that worthless that you can just ignore everyone? Is a 3 year old statement written in a moment of uncertainty really enough? These days the discord has a couple regulars with me having more or less left the place since all the friends I had left and the people that are still left are people I really don't like (except for a few exceptions I'm not gonna name names tho). For the past years while I've stopped caring about the game I will help out people that are having issues with the game (since as we know it is very buggy and there is a very common issue of the config file corrupting locking you out of the game) and helping people with modding but in total nobody on the discord cares about the game anymore. The mods say the game is finished but that is a cold hearted lie. How can it be finished if half the time your save corrupts or your config file corrupts and you're locked out of the game? I like the mods they're cool people one of them even drew my profile picture but telling those lies makes no sense in my eyes. Forager is over in the public eye. There are many people playing it but the image of it is gone. At the end of the day I would never recommend anyone buying the game since I don't want to give hop money if we are really this worthless to him. Especially if anyone reads this far (which wow this is a long comment why are you reading everything) do not buy the game on any console or mobile. Mobile randomly wipes your save wheneve it feels like it and the controls on console are awful if you like the game play it on pc. Thank you for reading this and sorry that it got this long there was a lot to say. Maybe just maybe he'll release the teaser and he'll do it right still not sure if I'll buy it tho if it releases.

@Asumji jesus man thanks for the comment I really appreciate it I 100% agree with you about hop I have to say I wish he would just be honest but then again I can appreciate he Is under a lot of pressure especially with the sky rocket success of forager

@@YummyChemicals well yeah as I said he was under a lot of pressure so I fully understand how he acted in the moment but what I don't get is why he didn't just write a full explanation of what happened like a month or so after... now it's too late any statement he gives now would hurt him more than it helps him since all it does is bring more eyes to what he did but he could've said something shortly after everything

Before the most recent updates the meta in Forager was to spam place lighthouses around one area to overlap the boosts, Because there wasn't a limit on the boost, then you would shovel in the area to get millions of sand and then go and sell that for millions of coins.

i still remember when i got addicted to this game in 2020 when i had pirated it, in 2023 when i had money to buy it on steam i got addicted to it again and 100%'d it in like 40 hours over the span of a week, it was pretty fun
