I love this new MacBook because I don’t need accessories, I don’t need adapters. When I pick up and go it’s just the MacBook, enough battery to get me through the day and enough onboard storage for all my photos, plus the ports I need - my little pouch of adapters can now stay at home. And when at home it has enough ports to plug my peripherals in independently so they don’t all spin up when I just want to read an SD card. Love it

Personally I’d go with iPad Air or similar size as opposed to the mini as it almost doubles your screen for a sidecar. Perfect for writing research papers etc

I upgraded from 2015 MacBook Pro Retina to 2021 14" MacBook Pro base model. I love the new computer and I am glad I waited from the M1 MacBook that came out last year. New Apple Silicon, SD card reader which I use all the time and magsafe. It has everything I need.

I'm personally not a fan of larger laptops, therefore I went with the smaller size. The 14" display provides plenty of real estate for me. Comparing it to a 13", it provides a decent amount more of screen because of the smaller bezel. Keep in mind they are slightly heavier than last years models, so if you are moving a lot the 16" might be slightly heavy and large.

About the mouse : I'm 6'3" and have huge hands so was pretty sceptical when you recommended the logitech pebble a few years ago in multiple videos, but I find this small mouse super comfortable. For reference, I have a Logitech G series mouse in my permanent workstation and the pebble is just for travel. So the size variance on a daily basis is interestingly subtle. Thanks for the recommendation. I recommend forward the logitech pebble! Worth it!

But I’m sure there are so many other tools I’m not even aware, plus I love seeing other people’s workflow and get some tips to improve my own. :) having both devices for college seems like a perfect combination

Anker makes a battery pack that supplies 87w through usb c. I have one and would highly recommend getting one if you want a battery pack that COULD charge the MacBook Pro if needed

I recommend getting baseqi for you sd card slot, a cheap way to permanently expand your storage if you dont use the slot much anyways.

What about some sort of backup drive - like a Western Digital My Passport Ultra 5TB? It’s not fast, it’s pretty small and, most importantly, it’s VERY cheap.That way, when you’re on the road, you’ll have a local backup…just in case. Also, a protective carrying case might be a good idea as well - I found a Native Union Stow Lite sleeve that looks to fit the bill.

I want the 14” for portability for working on photos and learning to branch off into other areas as well. I’m not happy about the cost, but the 14” is more within reach.
