In this video I will do a quick comparison of the Vostok Amphibia 420059, SEIKO SNZF17 Sea Urchin, Orient Ray 2, SEIKO SKX013 and SEIKO SKX009. I will also mention the Orient Mako 2, Seiko SKX007, SEIKO SNZH55 and the Citizen NY0040-09E also known as the Marina Militare. In my opinion these watches form the best entry level dive watches in the market.

Which SKX do you have? I am thinking about selling the 009 and Sea Urchin (slightly too large for my wrist imo). The Amphibian will stay in my collection. Today I ordered a mesh bracelet for the Vostok 😁

I just got a Sea Urchin yesterday and I'm very happy with it. I agree with your comments regarding the crown, it would be nice if it was just a little bit bigger. Bracelet is surprisingly decent for the price. The Vostok looks quite charming and quirky, even with all its silly flaws. ... For anyone looking for an even cheaper diver, don't disregard the quartz Casio MDV106 with a screw down crown and 200m water resist.

Great comparison video. My only thought is your comparing dive style watches with a couple of true ISO certified dive watches. Those certified divers are in a class of their own and should be compared as such.

Nothing wrong with the K versions (Made in Malaysia?). Compared to sea urchin, my "Seiko 55 Fathoms" (snzh55) get more "Seiko" looks than others have Rolex shadow cover .

Hello George, I can highly recommend the Seiko SKX007 or Seiko SKX013 or Seiko Mini Turtle. I own all of these watches. The Ray 2 is amazing, but I did not like the bracelet and bezel. I have 6.3 inches wrists.

Why i feel like the sea urchin’s bezel sit’s too high compared on the orient ray II? Am i the only one noticed it?

The Orient has a very flat bezel, kind of easier to wear under a dress shirt than the somewhat chunkier Sea Urchin... in my opinion.

Yes I think it does. But only to a very small degree. As you know all the import dimensions are about the same: lug to lug 46mm, lug width 22mm, thickness 13mm, diameter 41mm vs 41.5 mm. Both bracelets are not the best. I would upgrade to a nice rubber strap, nato or aftermarket solid stainless steep bracelet. Overall I would choose the Orient for the better movement and the increased Water Resistance 🌞🌊

It all depends what you look for in a watch. Without one moment of hesitation I would purchase a Seiko SKX013, 009 or 013. I think the design is unique, I love the bezel, the watch goes with any strap or bracelet. Also look into the new Orient Ray models here in KZbin. In my opinion they look sharper than the version featured in my video. Either way you can’t go wrong. It just depends on your personal taste and what you require in a watch.
