I would say I feel pretty much the same as you about the neo. I had tried a couple cheap knock offs and spent more time getting the brush to work than painting. Picked up the neo and was off to the races. Great beginner brush or even an all around good airbrush. Did leak tho as you stated but a little beeswax and was good to go
@theartworkshop2 жыл бұрын
Some of those knock off ones are hit or miss. I've used some good ones and some awful ones. I think it's best to just go for a brand like Neo or anything from badger.

This was my first airbrush upgrade from a Masters G233 to Neo and it worked much better. As you stated the cheaper brushes are hit or miss but the Masters never leaked yet the Neo does a bit. So Bees wax it is, time to buy some. My latest brush is a Creos PS270 yet I still use the others. I can't stand when people knock or talk way too much trash about cheaper brushes. Not everyone has disposable income, are professionals or even sure if they will stick with it when they first start,.

This is the first airbrush I bought in 2011 and this is a wonderfull airbrush for bigginer. I bent the tip of the needle recently and I wonder if I should buy a new needle and nozzle plus the .5 conversion kit or go for a Creos procon boy .35 for about the same price tag.

will you please do a review of a cheap chinese 180 airbrush.
@alexfaktor1362 жыл бұрын
Thank you for another great video! I love your reviews. That air speed is extremely impressive for a .35ml nozzle and I'm wondering if the single air vent/hole has something to do with it? The ability to change the paint cups is a feature I wish all airbrushes had; a lot of paint when you need it and the option to get the big cup out of the line of sight when you don't. I'm not crazy about the bottom of the trigger. Too easy to pop out once the needle is removed. I much prefer the "T" design that keeps the trigger in place until you twist it out. I've also heard that the Neo nozzles are made from a weaker material than all the other Iwata airbrushes so they need replacing often. The red Iwata wrench you recommended is a necessity, forget the spanner wrench that comes with; too easy to over-tighten or drop the nozzle on the carpet where it's lost to eternity. I hope you review the Iwata Revolution in the future. I believe this AB is where quality vs price really comes into being and all the parts are made in Japan. IMO, if I'm going to spend more than $50 for a brush, I'd spend a little extra and get the Revolution.

I love the revolution too. I have to agree with you there! Really great points.

I've heard good things about the Neo and now this video seals the deal I'm going to get one and I agree response time is huge I have a couple of brushes that paint doesn't start flowing and the trigger is about halfway back and on that I'd like to go a little off topic and ask you if there's something I can do to fix that it's very frustrating not knowing when paint is going to come out.
@theartworkshop2 жыл бұрын
A few things can help. Make sure you are using a good airbrush paint that has finely ground pigments like golden high flow colors, createx, com-art, etc. Reduce it if necessary and make sure your psi is high enough to spray properly. I start at 20psi but usually bump it up to 25 or so for thicker paints.

I'm definitely not spending a bunch on a brush for a teenager who most likely will get frustrated and stop but also want to get her something other than total junk. looks like a good entry level airbrush.

I recently found an Iwata Revolution WITH a Silver Jet compressor on my local marketplace for $120 CAD. Not a huge fan of tankless compressors but the brush appears similar to this Neo. Seemed like a good deal and a good idea to have a larger brush for those bigger areas.👍🏼

I have a gravity feed and siphon feed NEO and I played around with them for awhile but eventually put them away. I’m an Iwata guy and have used Eclipse for years for T-shirts and murals and a Micron for illustration. A couple weeks ago I had to do a large mural project and I put a new .50 nozzle and needle on my siphon feed NEO to use as a backup if needed. It saved my behind on the murals and I ended up using it as my main airbrush. From now on, I’ll use NEOs in muraling and I think I’d use them in T-shirt work if I still had a shop. It handled much thicker paint than I expected it to and really produced. I agree it’s a great intro airbrush but also not bad for guys like me who have been airbrushing for 40 years and could use a cheap, reliable backup.

@@KeeksSnoogie79 very common problem when starting out. You need to hold down the airbrush trigger (so that its spraying air) while you adjust the regulator on your compressor. Here is a short video I made on how to set it up- kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnbYhHepeZ12mZo

Do you suppose that the airspeed 4.0 m/s might be related to the leaks from the head of the airbrush ? If the head was well sealed, the result of the airspeed measurement could be worse. The result 4.0 m/s is very good, but maybe partially it is an effect of the leaks ? You have fantastic videos and I watch them with a pleasure. Thank you.

@@theartworkshop I totally agree. When it comes to construction, Eclipse is amazing. But isn't the Neo at 4.0 m/s in use closer to the work of the Iwata CM than the Eclipse at 6.0 m/s?
