Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 fitted to my Golf , biggest issue in the UK all year round is rain and these inspire confidence on our waterlogged motorway network. Exceptional value for money and my recommendation.

Goodyear Vectors on my Civic in the SNOW on the motorway this week were simply amazing. The road was whiting over from the snow, there was loads of grip from these tyres, cornering too, not a single slide. As soon as the temperature drops below 5°C you can feel the tyres still maintaining grip whereas the previous Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric tyres would be sliding all over. Warmer conditions, the Vectors, don't perform as well as summer tyres but they're not far off and they don't wear fast either. I've done 12.5k with them on and there's 5 to 6mm tread on the fronts and nigh on hardly any wear on the rears. All in all, the slight drop in warm weather performance is offset by the vastly superior cold weather performance. I'll never go back to summer tyres and Vectors will be on my next car too.

I have the Michelin's on a VW Golf and just spent the evening going up hills in 6" snow where many 4x4's where sliding backwards. They are incredible in the snow

Really appreciate the effort you put in to give your honest feedback. One comment I would make is the type of car used for testing. I own a rare Daihatsu Sirion 1.5 sx auto and have the Goodyear Vector gen 3's all round and they are a great tyre in all conditions for me. The point I would make is to test tyres on front wheel drive smaller cars as I firmly believe your recommendations might be different based on smaller cars which might be a good comparison. Totally agree!! What we show here is how far each tyre can be pushed to the limit - those that fair best at the limit will be the ones that can cope with the most when you need it most in an emergency situation... The lap Tim is a helpful comparator of those results.

Good review. What temperature was the wet handling circuit? A key thing with all-season (or winter) tyres in the UK is how they perform on our cold, and wet or damp/greasy winter roads - ie 60-80% of winter conditions. This is where they can stand out from summer tyres in terms of confidence and safety. Would be great if you could do an extensive test looking at that, in comparison to summer ones.

Thanks Rob - yep 38 degrees was a little bit extreme while we were in Rome... We plan to film more in the UK this year, where I have no doubt we will find it easy to get the conditions you mention LOL - its a new channel and we are finding our feet as we go - this feedback really helps :)

I can deal with having to slow down a bit in the dry and the wet… I buy the crossclimate2 because the snow traction stopping and going is massively more important for me than trying to carve corners in my 15 rdx.

The tires I chose for my 2018 Dodge Challenger R/T Scatpack were not on this list but I’ve found them to be the best I’ve ever owned! They are the Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 Ultra High Performance tires. 😎

The tires in the test are what we in NA would call All Weather tires, the Pilot Sport 4 Season are NA all season tires, I have the previous generation Pilot 3 All season and they are decent in snow but no where near as good in snow as my Nokian WRG4 All Weather tires. With the All Weather you lose a lot of the dry high performance grip characteristics of Michelin Pilot Sport all season tires though.

I really appreciated and welcome a different approach in reviewing all season tires. Reading the date ADAC, AutoBild and other reviewers this contributes to a more broader picture/impression about all season. There is one aspect which can't be covered here but some of us are lucky.....the tire size. The ones who needs to fit a 17 inch all season tire have plenty of data. My case, 19 inch..less data. I noticed that certain tire model behaves differently 16, 17 and even 18 inch. My question to Tyre Seeker....when can you also test on 10- 20 degrees C the all season tires, wet and dry?

Hey Steve, great video. I imagine that here in the UK, the performance drop off in the dry will be a lot less compared to a summer tyre due to our cooler summer temperatures. I've just had the Goodyear Vector 4 season gen-3 fitted to my Mondeo 235/40/18 and they feel great over the last 600 miles I have covered. They feel pretty grippy, road noise is reduced and compared to my old tyre, they're better at dealing with slight bumps in the road, such as motorway cat eyes between lanes. Very impressed so far. Looking forward to seeing more from this channel..

I drove continentacl eco contact on icey condition, not a blit. As if I was on dry asphalt. I can say Continental is the best in terms of grip, but not so much in terms of mileage, it is also very expensive.

General Altimax RT43 have been the best all season tires I've ever used and I've been through many in my 35 years of driving.

I had a set of RT43s and they were incredible tires for my underpowered Rav4 in ths snow, wet and dry. Excellent wear and all. Then got a set from Walmart and they didn't last for anything. Maybe a bad set.

i have GVG3, i made drive on hot condition where be 30 C, and now is 15-20 in my city. rainy days are here, i can say on rain they are perfect, on dry i see they can be little beather but no one ishue so far, i stop almost imidietly when i break, snow i didnt feel because in my city beside sea i dont see snow much days in year, but i am shure if they handle rain so good they would snow tou. i made 2000km so far, they are excelent for driving, they are soft not hard like Kleber Qudraxer wich i drive on my golf 1.9tdi. so, i can say they are beather then Kleber, and dont cost much higher than Kleber. so i sugest, to everyone to spend more to have more on road. in my region, much part of the year is warm or rainy weather, so i pick tyres for that. but someone for snow, definitly would be beather to have real winter tyres or best witner all seson tyres like in this video. GVG3 for me is one of best tyres i ever had, no single isues now, i will text in future how it handle time, how she handles miles, 10k 20k 30k, but for now what i see she is almost tyre without isue, i agree she is on dry optimal, not in the best class, but if you buy tyre like i when weather is bad, this is tyre for you. summer last 3.5 months, in all this other mounts and days weather is not nice, so i buy tyres for that conditions not for sunny days.

Hello, I live in Greece where the climate is rather hot, but during winter it's rather chilly where I am, not so much to use winter tyres tho, so I decided to go for all season tyres. My question is what tyre of them is the more summer oriented, I actually want the best for dry and wet but when the time to step on snow comes, to be able to deal with it. Our viewers typically drive mainly on wet/dry roads, or are in more snow climates where snow is more interesting... we separated it out so people could decide for themselves :)

Nice easy story telling, but from a tyre-review video you really want technical data. Which we don't get. So though the video is nice to watch, it's totally useless for what you want to know. Besides this is the only reviewer so far I've seen who doesnt put the CrossClimate in the very best top-end. I think I stick to watching Tyre Reviews video's :)

Thanks for the feedback. Stats aren’t everything and we agree that Tyre Reviews do great technical reviews full of statistics, and those stats do indeed point to CC2 coming top… we however put our trust in Steve’s 30 years as a racing driver, a test driver, a motoring journalist and all round car guru and we ask his opinion of what each tyre really feel like - what the stats show often are at odds with what Steve FEELS… ours is a new voice trying to give a real world (and actually impartial for a change) answer to those who just want some advice, not tons of industry sponsored commentary on industry produced stats 👍🏻

Well I would suspect - Verds are hard for us to get in any quantity/consitence in the UK hence they done make our tests which are primarily for the UK market. Toyo may well be in the next years one though.

I have had the Vredestein on a 2 tonne Jag XJ V6 3.0d and they performed really well in a UK winter of snow and ice but as soon as the temp got above 5c they struggled in wet/dry and handling became an issue. The back wheels are wider than the front of Jag due to rear wheel drive but it felt unbalanced in the milder weather. I have Vredestein Ultra Vorti as summer tyres and they are great, also in mild winter.

I think all the tyres are great but how they handle comes down to the car I think. I have a VW Golf Mk7.5 and have had goodyears on it but they never felt the same as Michelin. Not saying Michelin is the best here lol just saying from my experience they felt and handled better. But the car definitely plays a role in how the tyres are on the road.

Standing between the GoodYear and Bridgestone. If I want a (for an all season) sporty and with great response tyre which one would you choose for my Jaguar S type? Jaguars handle great but they can be helped on steering feel. A bit numb with the wrong tyres.

Hey Christian, We haven't tested them yet, but maybe a UHP AS might be a good fit if you are after a bit of extra sportiness and feel - I'd recommend taking a look at the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS and see what you think of those...

Most would by an all season for a winter alternative and not for a summer or all around. So this test, is basically just a summer test with all season tires.

I lived in french Alps and now in Pyrénées. I have used only Michelin Crossclimate series. I've tried Kleber Quadraxer 3 too which are just as good for less money and it is the same house as Kleber belongs to Michelin ;) Before I used to swap winter and summer tyres because the 4 seasons weren't great. Nowadays manufacturers have made such progress that I don't bother anymore. It's 4 season tyres all year round.

Tread carefully (no pun intended) as the terminology used between US and other parts of the world differs. What we call an all season tyre in the UK is a tyre rated for all seasons and often with 3pmsf logo. Whereas in the US, an all season tire isn't really suited to winter months, hence some companies are now calling them 3 season tires instead. UK all season tyres' equivalent in the US are known as all weather tires. I hope any future videos makes this clear as without clarification it can be confusing.

Do it again on snow see what the Mcc does. No one is racing on on the roads. you get all weather tyres for the snow. wet and dry roads are not a worry to your average driver but snow is and the Mcc give you confidence

Just put Kelly Springfield A/S on our 2015 Forester this past week. Goodyear manufacturer, $128 per tire, 500 UTQ mileage rated. So far so good.

Hi Alecx, yes unfortunately that is correct. It's probably due to the low profile of the tyre. If its possible with your wheels and car, you could maybe try 255/40/20 - www.etyres.co.uk/255-40-20?season=all%20season This would need to be checked by your cars manufacturer/tyre garage to see if this would be possible though.

Difficult to say - SUV is a particular type of application where the weight plays a really big part. Ultimately this test is a good indicator, but hopefully in time we will be able to perform multiple tests to see the results for SUVs as well... I spent weeks looking at heaps of Tyre tests and reviews and for my car, a Toyota Aurion, the Michelin pilot sport 5's were the constantly picked best all round and most ideal tyre.. seriously, how are you going to test rude and road noise on a track? Smh.

Fair comments Murray - there are many ways to skin a cat... for filming a closed environment like a track is very helpful... The places we use are actually proving grounds that have a lot of different road surfaces and we do use them to get an overall feel. Our approach to these reviews is meant to be different to the others in so far as we are looking to make the videos entertaining, less focussed on stats and more about the feelings Steve gets through the wheel... The process puts the tyres right on the limits in a safe environment, which shows them at the extremes of the capability... This does translate to how they will cope in emergency situations on the road where you may need to brake hard or swerve. We know that viewers are watching lots of vids from KZbin before making the call and we appreciate that reviews are not what you see elsewhere, but that is our plan - our vids add useful additional information of a type not readily available in other peoples reviews - namely the view of an actual professional motoring journalist/racing driver who has 30 years of experience testing cars for tyre and vehicle manufacturers.
