I'm now switching 235/45 R18 Bridgestone Weather Control Evo to Goodyear Vector 4seasons g3. Frankly speaking I can't imagine how Bridgestone could do so well in the test. I've never driven equally bad all weather tyres on snow. At the same time they are one of the best I had in wet.

Bridgestone Weather Control A005 EVO the worst tires I've had. After a year, they slipped in the fall and in the winter, unfortunately, the car was immobilized because it could not move on these tires

Great Review, very helpful. I was already leaning towards the Michelin CrossClimate 2's and this helped seal the decision after seeing this video and your other one comparing them to winter tires. Thanks!

They're a good tyre, I was deciding between the Goodyear and the Michelin. I went for the Goodyear in the end as they have much better performance in non-snow conditions such as rain etc. But overall both tyres will serve us well. Oh yeah, the thing I noticed when I came to order was the Goodyear were a bit cheaper. I believe they last longer in testing as well though that's a moot point really.

for the best all-seasons in the snow i was expecting to see Continental and Nokian as well.
@tyreseeker

Hey Jose - yep Nokian make awesome winter tyres - we are reviewing mainly for the UK market where they do not have really great availability, they are also considered a mid range tyre, where the others on test are considered premium range. The Conti, as mentioned to another comment below was delayed getting to us in Sweden until after we left - we were gutted as they should have been there, but it was what it was and there was nothing we could do about it - they'll be there next year :)
@antonroux6737
@antonroux6737 2 жыл бұрын
@@tyreseeker your considering the Nokian tyres as mid-range is frankly, highly prejudicial given their well known performance - what is your basis, reasoning or evidence for making that claim? Anti-Northern European bigotry by any chance? Your sponsor doesn't carry them? Anything beyond a single statement of preconceived market positioning?
@tyreseeker
@tyreseeker 2 жыл бұрын
@@antonroux6737 if you read our comments you will see we are always very complimentary about Nokian. We love their tyres. Period. However it is not us that states they are mid range, it is the industry… the metrics involved are many, but a few of the key ones are: Size of company Annual R&D budget Number of OEM fitments Global supply chain While Nokian have a great niche in Scandinavia, they are not able to compete with any of the big six that make up the premium sector of the market. Last year they turned over just over 510M compared with Bridgestone for example at 32B…. They have a long way to go. Despite this, they make great tyres. We dont cover them as our channel us primarily for the U.K. market where they are not routinely sold or available. That’s all. No “Northern European Bigotry” LMAO what a weird thing to accuse us of LOL

@@tyreseeker 👍thanks for clarifying what you mean by "mid range". I would normally use "mid range" to refer to product quality rather than market factors, but at least I now know you don't hate Northerners ;) Good work

Goodyear is consistently better than Michelin in wet conditions, in various tests shaving multiple meters in wet braking tests. I personally would prioritize wet performance - that I experience every second day - than better performance in the snow - which I see two days every year...

You need to take into account how these tyres behave during usual conditions for where you live, e.g. if you live in the South of England, you are very unlikely to see this much snow. How do they perform during the summer? What about cold (0-10C) wet rain - the usual conditions the tyres will run under. I had the choice of Climate 2 or EVO A005 and went with the EVO due to cold, wet handling. If I were in midlands, north of England / Scotland, I'd have probably gone with CrossClimate 2.

Not sure if it was mentioned but the Hankook Kynergy 4s2's is a great tire and about 30 to 40 percent more affordable compared to the Cross Climates

Great review. I do think you guys should add in the information about fuel consumption and road noise as that was one of the main factors for me in choosing the Bridgestone A005, as those 4 tyres are top performers in the real world other factors will also be very important such as noise and fuel consumption.

So the tyres are actually all the same. They are all really good all season tyres. If they have a score of 100 or 96 doesn't matter. If the differens where like 20% or more it would matter for every day driving. Pick the ones you want. I'm left with the question of comparing this 4 tyres with a dedicated winter tyres and give that 100 % from start and then rank the 4 tyres after that. Yes he said that the differens was not big to tested winter tyres but never the less, I would like to have numbers.

I have just had some Goodyear Vector 4 Gen 3 fitted to my Mondeo. They were about £50 a corner cheaper than the Michelins. Also, as im in the UK, snow days are rare in my area so i don't think i need the extra snow performance of the CC2. What's great to see though is how these tyres make a RWD car so much more capable in these conditions.

@Denis Kreslin and @AirAssault7 Sadly while we were in Sweden the Continentals that we had ordered for this test were delayed until after we had left - it was a bit of a disaster and we were really upset to not have them in both summer conditions and winter conditions, but the track in Sweden is a long way from everywhere and we were unable to get other tyres, so just had to proceed without them. Sorry all!

Any chance of an UHP all-season tyre test in snow/ice? My Michelin Pilot Sport 4S’ are essentially unusable in the colder months and winter tyres are overkill for most with only occasional snow/ice.

Would it improve the performance, if in winter conditions we put winter optimized all weather tires on the front and mild climate optimized all weather tires on the rear axis? And for the summer time the other way.

As important as testing under these conditions is, people who drive like this on the open road are dangerous idiots. In real life driving the most common winter hazard is braking on dry cold (7c and below) roads. It would be nice to see some comparative braking distances under dry cold conditions.

Depends on where you live. I've never had a problem in dry cold with grip. Starting, stopping, and turning in my FWD in the snow is the most dangerous part.

On my third winter about a month or so in on the contis. They're some of the best winter tires you can get. Excellent grip. Tread life seems very short though. About 10,000-12,000 miles if you're a spirited driver. I'm averaging 6/32 so looking at changing the setup probably next month.

Hi, fair comment - we would love to have more cars to play with to put these reviews together, but ultimately it comes down to time and money... we get what we can and do the best we can to give an idea of each tyres capability. Hopefully our next time on track we will have a Golf that we will be able to use - watch this space :)

Hi, We can only say what we found when we ran the test... It is fair to say that other Tyre Review companies have certain affiliations that colour their results - ours are entirely impartial. Michelin crossclimat 2
@sportsmachinerr1401

I use the Previous generation Michelin Crossclimate+ as winters here in the Midlands of the UK on my BMW M140i. My thoughts are below. While we don't get much snow maybe 3-4 days a year, we do get frosty icy mornings. In comparison to a UHP summer, my Goodyear supersport's. The CC+ really shines below 10c offering better traction and braking, lateral grip is slightly less in the dry but the grip at the limit is more friendly and progressive on breakaway. Also traction control kicks-in less abruptly maintaining more control over the car. Wear rate. Is also excellent too at only 1.5 mm in 5000 miles. Conclusion. It's probably the only tyre you need year round unless you have a performance car.
@jasonashley9853
@jasonashley9853 Жыл бұрын
I'm seeing a lot of anecdotal reports that CrossClimates wear quickly. If they're a performance oriented tire, it stands to reason they'd wear faster. More grip = less tread life. I average 20-30k miles on non-all weather all seasons. So I'd expect low tread life out of the CC's. Probably 20,000 miles. I average around 15-16,000 miles a year. So these would be spent in a year and a half roughly. Price is the biggest reason I've never bought Michelin. It's hard to justify the price when I'll see short tread life.
@sportsmachinerr1401

@@jasonashley9853 My last tyres, Avon ZV7's only lasted 4,500 miles on the rear so my predicted 20-25K for the CC+ is amazing to me. To be honest they don't get an easy time having to deal with 400hp, 425lbs-ft. I have seen a Taxi driver on YT in the US with 50k on CC2 with tread still remaining but I think that might be a harder compound to the European version.
@vivabielsamot5828
@vivabielsamot5828 10 ай бұрын
The cc2 tyre in north America has a 60,000 guarantee I believe but it's less in the European market as the tyres are made slightly different for each of those markets .Also the tyre works just as well when down to 2mm tread as it does from new .

What do we think about longevity vs normal tyres?
@jasonashley9853
@jasonashley9853 Жыл бұрын
Depends on the softness and grip of the rubber. Probably slightly faster wear than a standard touring all season. I'd think non-3PMSF all seasons would last longer. I could be wrong though.
