@@NicoGolf. You're being narrow minded, if your goal is to cheat and get crazy amounts of spin I'm sure you could do that. But others may just want a normal amount of spin without having to go buy new wedges. Tour pros get new wedges whenever they want, last time I bought wedges mine weren't even bad and I gained 1000 rpm. I watched rick sheils use this and he only gained 600 rpm, so new conforming wedges are still better.

Personally, I love knowing JUST how much more I suck than pros! 😂 makes those shots that keep us all coming back that more special. That’s just my opinion on the matter with regards to myself (high 25-27 handicap, coming into my second and a half year of play) If I’m in your group, and that’s your style… hell yeah. They aren’t necessarily illegal, but by the rules of golf since material has been removed the club has been altered, so it’s legal standing is undetermined. The only way to truly determine whether or not it is still conforming is to send it to the USGA or R&A for inspection. That being said, does anybody really care? I know I don’t. I am a 14 handicap that plays recreational golf, golf leagues, etc. so if a few shavings have been removed from my wedge grooves that’s OK.

By illegal for tournament play do you mean not legal to use while on the course or not legal to have resharpened grooves in general?
@AzTokist9 ай бұрын
If you sharpen your grooves and they are noticed while playing in a tournament you can be disqualified. If you don’t play tournaments then by all means do what you want with your irons. Sharpening the grooves will give you crazy amounts of spin which is fun to have if playing with your buds but you will go through golf balls like crazy as they will tear the covers from having sharp edges.

There's two trains of thought I see. Those who care if the club would be legally conforming and those who don't. I'm in the group that cares. Not because I'm bullshitting myself into thinking I'm a tour player. Because one of the core tenants of the fucking sport is INTEGRITY. If you don't believe in that, I suggest you start watching LIV golf and the players who only care about making money, not making history... I'd rather use a legal club and hit shots I can be truly proud of than hit a hole in one with some juiced up club that unfairly masks my skill level. While you're at it, why don't you buy the Polara balls that only fly straight...
