There's just so many to pick from for both sides for me personally. For example, I absolutely love the Seafoam Islands because it pre-establishes a labyrinth with a reward in the end and therefore it becomes a stampe for icy areas to be in the future games and even in the sequels it becomes Blaine's Gym so it still upholds some revelancy and significance even if different. But then you get places like Johto's Route 45 that's just basically "the route back home" and has the Dark Cave as an option with nothing much significant inside of such dungeon. Areas are sometimes hit or miss with their features. Ilex Forest has a great atmosphere due to its seclusion but an annoying sidequest and practically little to none Johto Pokémon. I guess there's always several ways of seeing a landmark's highs and lows, from geographical significance to the accessability new Trainers and Pokémon, some just feel like extended copy+paste of others without their own identity and sense of self, but yes like a TM location, to which Hoenn with the weather and Sinnoh with the West and East shined with IMO. Maybe that's something they should look up more into the future, many routes just seem like grass and more grass since many regions are just majorly peninsulas and Hoenn to me has the charm of being that appealing for being different with puzzles to solve. Sinnoh has a mountain that pierces the heavens and even deserts, jungles and a volcano upnorth in the Battle Zone. Honorary mention to the Sevii Islands ofc. They truly encapsulated what an archipelago in the Pokémon world should be, always seeing something new in each different island and have mysteries all over the place that don't necessary need to make sense or be discovered or even have lore behind them. At least it's not a gimmick like the Caves of Artisan and Altering. As always, amazing video man! Loved your personal picks and I do agree with them. I don't personally believe that there are "bad routes" but yes many... and more and more that are forgetable or even skippable with the passage of time since they don't have a plethora fauna and flora of Pokémon or even something that captivates further exploration and replayability. And that's the whole point of Pokémon! Exploration and Adventure! A sense of mystery! One that we are more road/plot blocked by! Wild Areas aren't open world or even a sandbox for that matter IMO. The moment the story holds your hand and doesn't like you explore how to get items or go places, it doesn't feel like Pokémon anymore. Thank you for your time!

I actually loved tons of Johto. I know a lot of people don’t like Gen 2, but I love it. Ecruteak City has so much history with the Burned Tower and Bell Tower as well as the Kimono Girls’ dance theater. The Ruins of the Alph are so mysterious and I remember being a little girl fumbling through the puzzles and being so excited about Unknown. I also loved cycling by the MooMoo Farm and talking to all the Miltanks, plus feeding berries to the sick Miltank. The Lighthouse where you battle trainers and soothe Amphy. The buildup to the Lake of Rage is fun because you wonder what exactly the scene is gonna look like when you get there and the red Gyrados was such a cool exciting memory for me. The Ice Path challenged me in a fun way so I liked that. Slowpoke Well is such an odd and memorable place! The Ilex Forest made me so curious about Pokémon like Celebi, wondering what I could do to make it show up. Doing bug catching contests in the National Park was something I got really competitive about. Sure, there’s deadbeat parts of the map like Cianwood, but Johto is a really cool region. Plus, the towns being named after trees is cool, I like that. (I also love all the others, especially Hoenn, but Johto has the biggest place in my heart)

From farmers at the bottom of the route, to ninjas, karate men, bird keepers and even ace trainers and veterans, the varieties most found in victory road, make it a cute memorable route the first time and a real challenge to earn your surf on the way back. I would say the Safari Zone from HeartGold/SoulSilver is the best Safari Zone because you can modify the entire place and get the largest variety of rare Pokemon including ones like Shelgon which are virtually impossible to find in the wild otherwise. Granite Cave in retrospect was great in Sapphire and Emerald since it had Sableye, which made the Dewford Gym a cakewalk but looking back at it you're right that it had nothing else of real interest. I agree about Mt. Coronet. Rock Climb is just the worse HM (alongside Strength, but at least that can be learned by more Pokemon)

The only one that I don't like; but doesn't despise it, is the Abysmal Ruins in Undella Town. Which is very optional and the set of an underwater ruins to explore is nice. But the concept of it can be pretty annoying. Not horrible. Just annoying.

for me, Sinnoh's best route has to be 205. It might be small and simple, but it kickstarts the Team Galactic plot, have the Drifloon on Fridays, leads to also the first "escort" segment in the forest (which is also a fantastic route with many good rewards like being where you evolve a Leafeon and catch a Rotom...) and both Floaroma and the route have unique soundtracks, and 205's track ABSOLUTELY SLAPS! Hoenn's brass section was feeling a bit left out so this route just gave'em a last moment to shine.

Well, route 42 in johto actually ha one more secret that I personally think is pretty neat, of you enter the cave from where you see suicune, you can access and area of the cave where you can receive a tyruge (probably spelled it wrong but the baby of hitmon-brothers) which for me was the first time I saw that pokemon as my first game ever was soul silver. Not sure if this existed in the original games but the remakes it does. You didn't mention it so I wasn't sure if you knew about it but now you do If you didn't :)

Personally my hated route is Route 212 in Sinnoh purely due to the mud

Granite Cave? Huh woulds thought it'd be the Whismur Cave. 100% Whismur encounter rate and it's only other purpose being a shortcut??

Route 42 in Johto is simple, sure, but it's one of my favourites because it's easy to get the roaming legendaries to move there, especially when I was a kid and it took me days if not weeks to catch them.

Kanto: I always found Mt. Moon the worst area of Kanto, at least in Gen I and Gen III... it introduces us to the terrors of the Zubat plague and we can't buy any Repels for it. I don't think I have a favorite area... maybe a tie between the Safari Zone and the Silph Co. building. Johto: Worst area is a tie between Route 45 and Whirl Islands. Route 45 is annoying because of how many times you have to Fly back to Blackthorn City and walk down all over again if you want to explore all the paths (it made me dislike ledges in Pokémon). As for Whirl Islands... any dungeon that requires Whirlpool AND Flash is already bad enough, but how about we make it worse by completely wasting your time if you enter through the wrong island and/or jump over the wrong ledge? Favorite Area: gotta agree with Union Cave, even though I don't like having to backtrack to it after solving the two Ruins of Alph puzzles. Hoenn: Worst area: Routes 132-134. Yeah, I have a problem with routes that I have to redo over and over again because of path choices. I didn't like Route 45's ledges in Johto and I don't like this stretch of sea in Hoenn with all of its currents. It doesn't help that it's required for the Regis too... Favorite area: I honestly can't pick one. I love Hoenn as a whole so much, ocean be damned.

Ok, but what Region is the Strongest in terms of Mature (Age 10+) Trainers? Caught Pokemon but not Caught by the Protagonist or Mafia! Side-Question in-between: When will Protagonist and Mafie be the same for once?!? Anyway: How strong are the Regions and who compares how to the others??

IMO you should have done Orre and the Sevii Islands. My favorite locations in both would be The Under and Sevault Canyon. Route 224 is great too. I'd legit build a house either there or in the Sevault Canyon.

For the mount coronet part being the worst, you’re only forced to go through it at least 3 times( if you have a flier). The first time HMs aren’t required( when you’re going to hearthome). The second time, only strength which is a good HM is required( going to snowpoint). Needing rock smash is entirely optional for extra items. Still can respect your choice though. My personal pick for most annoying part of Sinnoh would be the main part of wayward cave. Yeah it’s optional and it’s good training for fantina but still

My least favorite place in Sinnoh is definitely the route to Snowpoint City. You move so slow through the snow, and you constantly have to deal with hail damage. Not to mention it feels so long and empty....

I just finished my first playthrough of non-remake Gen 3 with Emerald, and honestly Route 119 was the only route I felt like skipping everything I could. It might feel like it isn't long and tedious for some, but it definitely hit like that for me.
i mostly agree except worst in hoenn and sinnoh. for hoenn it would be lilycove city, its such a big city and theres nothing interesting there, plus the worst final rival fight of all time is there to makes things worse. As for sinnoh it would be that one foggy route between the psyduck and celestic town, back when i was a child i never knew you were supposed to use defog there so the battles were hell, plus that super annoying overleveled double team with gyarados and raichu.
