My wife and I went to Miyakonjo today because of your recommendation. You’re absolutely right that it’s the best cheap eats in Kalihi. Loved their chicken nanban and grilled salmon bento and we can’t wait to try some of their other menu items in the near future. Also, like you said, their customer service is top notch. The wife of the chef/owner, Tomomi, was really nice and helpful. It blows my mind that such a small restaurant in that part of town is so clean and organized, too. Very professional. Looking forward to your future videos.

Love your channel......I work overseas and travel a lot through Hawaii - love the food there!! Worked with a lot of guys from Hawaii and cannot get enough of local kind food. Thanks for taking us to those hidden gems. Didn't know about Vitamin K, but will check it out. I've learned to enjoy natto ... but look like the wild chef as I add mustard, ginger, veggies and lots of soy sauce ...then throw it over rice. It is yummy. Texture is still funky, and the slime is odd ... but the flavor is great! TGive it a try ... like to see you eating healthier.

I live in Kalihi, and only 1 1/2 miles from Miyakonjo, and I never knew they existed. Definitely on my to visit list very soon. Here's some stuff I like: 99 Local Mix Plate [Kingsgate Plaza]: Beef stew Rainbow Drive-inn [Kalihi]: Beef cutlet plate Waiakamilo Drive-inn [Kalihi]: Beef broccoli noodle Monarch Seafood [Kalihi]: Mochiko chicken plate w/ nalo salad (no rice, I just buy it with the salad . . . great dressing) Masa's Cafeteria [Mapunapuna]: Baked spaghetti (Monday's special)

I used to get natto handrolls from Kozo sushi across from old Stadium Mall. For me the key was to add more wasabi, green onions, and dip in some shoyu before eating. I used to bring 2 rolls for lunch when I used to work in Waikiki. Thanks again for taking the time to make this video (I passed by Marukai many times riding TheBus usually on the way to Pearl City), but have never gotten off to stop inside.

good vlog. i try to have 1/4 container of natto every day for the nutrition value also. i must say as long as I don't stir it up, I can handle it...and I'm more accustomed to it so it's not so bad.

I should try that. doing a little bit each day. Currently I eat 1 of those small white containers every other day or so. I'm still trying to find one that I really like. But I noticed the cheaper ones taste worst than the expensive ones haha. thanks for watching.

I'd like to try Miyakonjo next time I visit, the bentos are cheap and good tasting! Not sure if I ever tried the nato, I would eat it if it tasted good. I like kim chi, so I don't mind the spice, but the roll was extra spicy! Aloha!! 👍😎

Marukai decided to be open to the public almost a year ago. They also started accepting EBT payments since the beginning of 2021. I love Marukai a lot...my mom doesn't though :/

I love natto! It’s the k2-7 that helps your bones and heart, but it’s better if you take vitamin D as well with it. Fun fact: my dog has skin issues and I now give her natto. It’s good for dogs ( in small portions) lol

Natto is "natto too good." It's stinky and slimy. Los Angeles does not have any tasty mom-and-pop, bento places. But, I think we have the best Mexican food.

Not a fan either but at Gyotaku with the Nattochos. I may never totally love it, but in the Nattochos, it's okay. If you go with a group who love Natto, then if the others have it, you might try it.

The konbu & shrimp tempura musubi's & cone sushi are ono. The futomaki sushi not good. The bento that i liked yrs ago no longer available. Their char siu & roast pork are ono. Never tried hot foods. 🤣🤣🤣Natto like vomit, i no eat anything which make me feel like vomitting.
