Kirkland silver tequila is among the best. it's better than Patron. I drink it straight......no training wheels. but then I don't really care for anejos or reposadas, especially if they have that oak barrel after taste. Blanco for me please.

Their buying power is so huge that they can go to Grey Goose, Jameson, or Bailey's and say, "We'd like to buy several hundred thousand gallons of your liquor, but put it in these Kirkland bottles." and the companies are like, "Cool. Easy money!"

The Kirkland brands are made big brand liquor companies, but they don’t put their name on it hence it’s cheaper. So if you don’t like the brand name you won’t like Kirkland. Kirkland beer is brewed by Gordon Biersch. Kirkland Scotch are distilled by either Alexander Murray and Macallan Distillery. Kirkland bourbon is produced by Jim Beam. Kirkland vodka is made from the same water source and by the same employees that Grey Goose uses. Kirkland tequila is produced in the same distillery as Cielo tequila. You can also tell by the bottles. Their imported vodka is the Sam general size and shape of the grey goose, where their American Vodka is basically the same size and shape as Skyy.

I have to strongly disagree with your opinion on both the silver tequila and blended Scotch. The silver tequila is absolutely fabulous with plenty of the citrus and blue agave notes, the blended Scotch however is absolutely trash! It's thin, has a horrible synthetic chemical finish and really has no "smoke" to speak of.

We buy the Canadian whisky and French vodka a few times a year. The Canadian is so close to crown for a much better price. The French vodka is more in line with an absolute or sky in my mind, but still great for the price.

I'm not a vodka person. Kirkland imported vodka is AMAZING. Straight with caviar or smoked salmon, it is to die for. Can't comment on the domestic version. As a rule, I won't go near American gins. Kirklands tastes like up end British London Dry. Straight in martinis or G&T, it's a fraction of the cost of Tanqueray or Hendricks. Their single malt scotches are also prizes. All of their 12 year olds are great, and their 18 year old Highlands is to die for too. (Probably Macallans 18, at a fraction of the price) I've had their 20 year old, and their 27 year old, both good, but the 18 year is clearly their sweet spot for me. I don't drink blended, so I can't comment. They've just started carrying Irish whiskey, so that is a future experiment. Been there, done that with the bourbons, thanks, I'll pass. And since I consider tequilia to be varnish remover, except in a Margaretta, any of the Kirklands will be fine. Now back to my glass of Pinot.

The Kirkland silver tequila went missing for several months in 2018. It came back a couple of months ago in California and it's obviously a different bottler. Used to be much cleaner. Now it has an awful taste. Not buying it anymore.

Oh yes! Sour! The silver tequila. That was my thought on my first taste of the Kirkland tequila. That it tasted like it smelled to me. Later I decided the sour smell reminded me of used gym shoes. The off taste is too strong to hide in a margarita. Love all the other Kirkland libations I have had. Think the egg nog in the liquor store they have is the best ever. But the silver tequila I will not be getting again. Glad others are enjoying it but my taste buds are just not into it.

Bourbon may be made in any of the U. S. States, not just Kentucky, and "Tennessee Whiskey" meets the legal requirements to be considered a bourbon. What makes Tennessee Whiskey different is the "Lincoln county process", which is the charcoal mellowing that Jack Daniels touts, and its point of origin. In fact Belle Meade Bourbon is made in Tennessee, and is pretty good stuff.

The Kirkland Costco vodka is not a vodka, tastes like water with rubbing alcohol. Vodka is made out of rye, barley or rice. Costco vodka is 65% pure corn, rest who knows.
