what do you think of all the kids wearing high-top baseball cleats? do you feel it limits them in pitching?
@YouGoPro3 жыл бұрын
@@rlpolgar I was never a fan...until I got a pair of the 2006 huraches. Those were the most comfortable spikes ever. And they were high tops (or maybe mids). In 2007 they made them too heavy though so I went back to the 9 spike low tops but those huraches were still my favorite spike ever. Super light and comfortable. Awesome to pitch in. Never liked any other high top though.

2nd and 3rd drill are mind-blowing. the 2nd drill can also be altered in different ways to train upperbody stabilization. In general: most of your videos are pure diamonds. So many useful tips, which gives an unseen insight into how baseball cracks are getting the maximum out of their body!

I love these drills. Especially the tee drill. I was wondering how many pitches is too many because there are pitch counts but then we also throw bullpens at practice. Obviously listening to my arm is probably most important but do you have an opinion on a pitch count that combines game and bullpen pitches?

My son is 15 years old...6'1 and 225 lbs....He has a strong arm but not the fastest going towards the plate, These drills should help him correct or is there something else also that might help him ?

Need a video of the mechanics of his throws to give you a direct conclusion of what he needs to work on, but don't listen to this video at all for pushing elbow out in front, it NEEDS to spiral around the head, tread athletics has an amazing video for it, tread athletics has an amazing program and a lot of free videos teaching amazing mechanics.

No pushing off the rubber, please watch any big leaguer's lower half and the knee is bent as the body comes towards the plate. If pushing off, the knee would be straight like a basketball player going for a rebound. The hip/shoulder separation is where the vast majority of force/velo comes from. Seated drill is not bad but check out the knee drill where pitcher is on 2 knees using their hips and trunk to generate velo and the using the upper body to go to the plate and using the glove to prevent spinning out or becoming inefficient. Taking the legs out of equation with the knee drill shows 85%-90% velo comes from everything core and above.

love this video! he noted that he would hit 70 or so sitting down if he did it right and I just hit 72 trying this drill. I don't throw near as hard as him on the mound tho so is there a large mechanical flaw with my legs?
@craigstem8493 жыл бұрын
Yes. If you have the arm action to throw 70 in a seated throw, you have a good enough arm action to throw 95+
@grantthomas213 жыл бұрын
@@craigstem849 love to hear that! haha well I guess I'll hammer down on my mechanics! appreciate the feedback and thanks for the motivation!

your arm is supposed to spiral around your head, you do not lead with your elbow, you do not release the ball in front of you. You release the ball in line of your ear. "Any powerful pitcher". throws that way. Don't listen to that. Leading with your elbow increases stress on your rotator cuff and lowers the possible layback.
