I'm 35 and only started playing last year. I have multiple injuries from sports and my range of motion is restricted. I started using this method literally 2 days ago and I can confirm everything in this video is 100% accurate. I AM STRIPING IT!!

Thanks Eric in bringing some senior golf tuition into your video's, great explanation of the back swing, but playing each day with all my golf mates, many of us have problems in getting the transaction right most times! Most of us are between 70/80 odd years of age and obviously trying too hard in giving it all in our forcing of our follow-through! It is frustrating when one used to drive at a certain hole and then to use a wedge for their approach to the green, now it's a drive and then a 5 iron! But we all have good day's and bad day's, but obviously we would all like to be consistent each day! Thanks Eric for the work load you put into your blogs you bring to all of us out here, they are much appreciated BIG time!

Great video! Travis looks like he can play. I have been working on this exact concept for a month. Difference in elongation and prior backswing is incredible. As a senior it will get you more distance. Thanks to you both

Eric! Another penny dropping moment! I know that with the growth of your channel you probably don't have time to reply to our comments yourself anymore! And have either got some kind of Google designed auto response program or hired an assistant to do the job, but it is nice to hear something back and pretend it is coming from your good self! So thanks for that! Spinal extension in the backswing! First heard you speak of this in the 2nd part of your video "The Three Most Important Keys To A Stable Release Pattern - 27 Sept 2019" with your buddy Marty Nowicki! So decided to investigate further and found this vid! Who would have known this was a thing! I'm beginning to think I am not as smart as I think, because even though playing to a 6, I have heard you speak of this before and chose to ignore it and the trail leg loosing flex in backswing idea! Simply decided to just accept that I could not turn more, and the low (no stopping on greens) ball flight that goes with it! Lazy! This has added crazy, width, depth, height and length to my backswing! I wonder how am I even playing this game! Maybe I should take up instead, the game of pool or start cleaning them, cause I am running out of time, and life, trying to nail this game! A Game Changer, Brother! Keep up the Gr8 work! P.S. Have you got a pool I could cut my teeth on! As aa great coach I know you would probably sympathetic and don't get to upset if I don't do the best job, first time ;-(

I love the video Eric. You’re finish is what I’m always striving for; you really swing through the ball. Is that a one-piece takeaway? It appears the arms, torso, and legs are moving together. Great content and appreciate you putting together such great information.
Eric, the straightening of the rear lag is getting a lot of positive attention in golf instruction. I can remember working with my golf instructor starting in the mid 90s on trying to fix a swing "flaw", straightening the my rear leg. I think it was even a "death move" in some popular instruction. What has current swing analysis learned to disprove the negatives attributed to this movement. Great videos.
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Shawn! Well I think the question should go the other way around....people have always lost bend in their trail leg in backswing.....what did those people learn in the 90s to say otherwise? I'm not sure. The flexing or extending of the trail leg allows the hips to TURN and TILT. The more you straighten the more of each you can get That effects the hand path (how much IN the arms/hands will go in backswing as well as swing length) That effects being able to swing from inside and overall distance

That is the method I started using some months ago and it really works especially if you have back issues. Great video.

Does this work with the Stack and Tilt method? Can I start this with the right knee straight in the set up? Preset?
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey! For sure...players since the beginning of golf have been losing bend in their trail leg in backswing. You could try it

as a 66yo I see guys even 10yrs younger have more probs with follow through as far as length. perhaps like me, there are some physical issues but, it's as though after the ball is hit, who cares what the bod is doing. and it's usually very short or lots of recoil. I think you guys could add to this lesson with what happens after contact, or, how to finish. btw...you had it going on there today :-)

Eric, I can't keep changing my swing. I have the compact with aggressive rage through the ball working - if I start swinging like Phil or Els, I will lose the angry intimidating Scottish man look I've been perfecting. Lengthening & Entending will lead to yoga, eating better, possibly becoming a Vegan - I can't even imagine how much my hockey boys would mock me. Let's get Mike Tyson on the show and get a little rage back in the swing. Even saying Lengthening & Extending makes me want to hurl.

I do this right/trail leg/knee move but have been trying to reduce swaying by keeping the left/lead knee straight (over my foot)...and it doesn't work! Thanks for showing me you can let the left knee bend (fold under) and still keep your head steady. I am guessing your action allows your torso to turn with more tilt (fwiw: when I compare our 2 back swings my knees and hips are on an identical angle to yours but my shoulders are flatter).

When you look at Hogan at the top of the backswing, his right leg is straight, almost locked. I wonder why things have drifted to having flex in the right leg?
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Marcus! Yessir...I would suggest allowing the trail leg to lose most of its flex in the backswing. I think there was a movement to keep it bent to sort of "coil" against it. I wouldn't suggest that for most.
@martinhardman92883 жыл бұрын
I know I've said it before and you've acknowledged it but...Stack and Tilt. S and T undoubtedly aids turn and extension at the top. Very good vid. I'm 66 with sciatica and the swing I've settled on is a hybrid of conventional and S and T. Which is basically what's being shown here. It works...

I actually tried this YESTERDAY after seeing another KZbinr discussing straightening the trail leg more to increase hip turn. Result?? I proceeded to SHANK the first seven balls I hit, with a Pitching Wedge, no less. Doing something wrong in the downswing, I guess.
@CogornoGolf3 жыл бұрын
Lol yes it does sound like you are doing something wrong :) Need to see on video of course to offer any specific advice

I learned to restrict the hip turn from somewhere. Boy, what a crock of BS that was. I'm still having to break that old habit and let the right leg extend.

recently i started turning the hips to kind of initiate the backswing, muy bueno. even bobby jones promoted this.
