I am totally with you: there needs to be an app just like Amen Break Generator that makes beat juggling simple and straightforward. Sure, maybe it is possible to patch something similar up with existing AUv3s. But it is more complicated than it needs be. Beat juggling is something that I want to be able to start quickly, whenever the buzz is there. Any self-patched solution does not offer that. Especially when you want to add that to any other project, you have to patch that into the new project too. (AUM helps with loading channels from other projects. But that is still fiddling around.) I think you got it just right, we need an app with the core functionality as it is in ABG, plus the essential upgrades. Also, love the outro music at 12:32. And it looks like fun to make. :)
@JakobHaq2 жыл бұрын
I feel exactly like that. I just need it to bee straightforward and quick to setup. Even if I patch something up with multiple apps and some magic midi trickery, it’s still a huge chore to switch out the sample/loops for instance. I hope we get a new amenbreak generator soon. PS! I’m happy you like the intro music. Thank the full video is right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXmpZ4Cjrb9pd5Y I basically recorded each Instrument by itself and added all the videos together. 😅

@Boback1112 жыл бұрын
Still have AmenBreak on older Air2 but doesn’t open for the reasons mentioned. In the meantime I highly recommend Segments for some of the missing functionality like thru-play and reverse in tandem, can work just as you described triggering the pads in order but reversed after hitting any pad. You do have to individually hit the rev button for each sample but you can hit the ‘all’ modifier and just hit it once for any of the functions. Has time-stretch and pitch shift, choke groups, attack and release controls, one-shot, gate, link, thru, loop, and ping-pong loop options for the pads, mono and poly modes, auto transient detection for slicing, built in FX, can play each pad chromatically across a keyboard like 16 levels on an mpc, and accurate built in key detection.

Since you’re on this topic a (global) transpose or “pitch” setting and beat repeat or “freeze” inside of Koala sampler would be an awesome update! Making it pretty much do most the the things on this list minus the note quantize and looping feature… I wonder if setting pad one to loop, or a separate choke group could somehow help matters? This would basically function like the SP404 vinyl and tape simulator does. By adding some static or noise to a pad and just using a Wow and Flutter MFX to achieve the very sought after sound inside the SP404’s (to an extent!)

An easy workaround in Koala would be to create multiple copies of a looped break you want and to adjust the start points according to taste. Then you can just use the pattern sequencer in Koala to beat juggle. Yeah, it would take some work to set up, but figuring out how to make an instrument do what you want is what separates a musician from a person curating a playlist.

Wow I thought I was the only one that found that to be true! I guess you have to be junglist at heart to real feel the Dilemma.😉 Tractor yes the original one not the second one. I forget the exact changes that made it not work as well but.... start by having some tearing almond Loops (buttery) that I would mix down in cubasis after stitching them together to make at least 16 bars and usually with a second similar loop which becomes a track I throw into one of the decks now add your que points in all the RIGHT spots... Try : 3 at starts of bar, 2 at snarehits , few at vocals or whatever AND few last ques would be quick loops/cuts.(single bar or sweet 4 bar buildup) and these you can quicktime half or quarter the loops on the fly. NOW to play: what you do is zoom in the wave like 1bar ? (know the form & See the snare) and freeze it with quantize and jump manually in that window view of that section of sample. have fun and then jump to another que and another interesting bit.all the while for still playing and in quantized ....So you can just keep loading the next deck as long as you got them extended ahmen loop tracks predone and mixing between them and then....if you dare into a real mixer... side note : Now remember, just like scratching without a beat, you will be kicked out of home or relationship unless you play that with second sound source ie you wanna use a mixer....yes fader...levels? check. keeps it all smooth goat style like you own vinyl but not cuz its ironic. so do that dew cut and blend---

Can’t this be done using the Dr OctoRex gadget that Propellerheads brought from Reason to Korg Gadget (Stockholm I think?) now that they’re usable outside of Gadget itself? You get pitch/reverse/pan and everything per slice, multiple groups, filters etc that Amen Generator doesn’t seem to have.
@JakobHaq5 ай бұрын
There’s a new video about this topic. The dev brought Amenbreak back and I’m also showing what one needs to do in order to set this type of behaviour up on the only two apps that can perform this type of functionality on iOS atm. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppeonWmAmLdqm6Mfeature=shared To answer your question, No, Stockholm gadget can’t perform this style playback on its own since it doesn’t have a built in sequencer. But even if you Stockholm into a sequencer you still don’t have a play through mode. You’d still have to program a sequence to trigger Stockholm. The play through mode with loop tracking and quantised triggering are what makes this Amenbreak Gen special. Many other apps and pieces of hardware has some of these functionalities, but unfortunately they often do not implement all of them. But I could be wrong. There might be others out there who knows Stockholm gadget better than me and have found a way of doing. If there are then I’d want to know. The more ways we can do this, the better! 👊 [EDIT] So far we have AmenBreak Generator Loopy Pro GR-16 But we might get this functionality In Koala Sampler too.

I used to LOVE this app! So much fun!

Here I was wondering, why not just use Koala? But you are absolutely correct, the lack of quantization would make live playing more difficult. When I first checked out Beatsurfing, I immediately wanted to try using it for playing jungle style cuts. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, it would require a lot of pre-chopped samples and tweaking to get things right. Like you said, inconvenience is a buzzkiller. Glitchbreaks definitely has my attention though. Have you played with the other apps from that dev?

@PiersCawley2 жыл бұрын
@@JakobHaq In the edit mode, tap on the slicer pads and choose 'divide evenly' rather than 'divide on transients'. It doesn't quite work the same way - when a tapped sample finishes playing, the loop jumps back to the point in the loop where it would be if you'd not tapped (as if you'd held 'freeze'). However, Michael's pretty responsive to things like this, and I've popped a note in the discord to see if he'd be interested in adding that behaviour as another option. Also, I _think_ I might be able to get the app behaviour by fiddling with follow actions. If it works I'll post a video and link to a save file so nobody else has to do the fiddling :)
