You can do this within Day 1-3. Day 1, get 5 Cod and the Line. Day 2, sail to the island between the Collector and Galecliff to get a free 3-Slot engine. Day 2-3 proceed until you get Crab-Pod. Day 4 sail to Galecliff and place pod in front of the merchant. Get 1 Big & 2 small Crabs from this Pod and sail to the shrine at the back of Galecliff to get the Ultimate Crab-Pod. (Put this Pod always near the merchant where you are about to quest/fish for the next days to get ~200€ a day.) Day 5 bring an abnormal fish to the merchant in Great marrow and follow the quest till you get dredging. --- Day 6+ do the quest for the architect and build her house. Lots of respawning dredge near her peer. Farm, put in storage, sleep, repeat. Once storage/ship are full/out of dredge, return to great marrow for upgrading. You should have enough money from the big Pod anyways when you return. Any research Parts should go in: 1* Engine, 1* Oceanic Reel, 5* Jet-engine. Anything after can go to Net/Pod, as you won't need any more points into engines and no points into rods for long. 😊

I've tried this variant several times and it all breaks down on Day 4. You simply cannot navigate to all the way to Gale Cliff, get the 3 crabs required and place them on the shrine (which is on the opposite side of the island) all in one day. So, your mini-guide is a very efficient early game suggestion, but the actual Days listed in the guide past 4 must be taken with more than a few grains of salt. Otherwise solid information and thanks for sharing it.

@@TheSavage1969 First of all. Don't get mad at someone for no reason. This Guide is over 10 Months old. It worked back then as it's my routine I did in every Playthrough. If you're not able to pull this off, there might be 2 Reasons for it: 1.) You suck. Get good. xD 2.) There have been lots of Updates & Patches since this Guide was written. This Guide was made prior to any Update or DLC. So, which of those 2 do you think is the most likely to be true? :D If it's 1.) I suggest working on your positioning of the Cursed Crab pod, your location at the end of each day, and try to be lucky with catching 5 Cod. If it's still not possible, it's most certainly 2.) for that I can't do much, except suggesting removing "Day" and making it a Priority List instead.

My speed run incorporate both the OP's vid suggestions and yours into a very good starting game process. Again, thank you for sharing the guide as grabbing the cod shrine real, the shipwreck engine, and the crab shrine ult crab pot early are OP.

I'd beeline for ocean fishing sooner. The sharks you can catch in the marrows are better than just about anything else you can do. Also there's a copy of your own ship you can find wrecked not far from the marrows that gives you a free rod and engine. Don't invest in crab pots, the improvement over the basic ones is far too little to be worth the investment. Trawl nets too. They take up too much space to be worth it. Beeline for the jet engine, and invest in rods.

This is not optimized. the sinew spindle should be gotten on day two and spending research parts on the revised outboard engine is a waster. Upgrade the crab pots instead amd build towards the single space jet engine.

I feel like you should slow down a little, also you go on with "fish at THIS spot" but you don't actually show where on the map you are. This could be if the places are random but if it's not I feel like you should include a view of the map that actually shows where you are when talking about specific spot to pick up stuff

There is a special light you can get fairly late in the game that is very good. The new Iron Rig DLC that released yesterday also has upgrades to your lights!

I ran into a bug in the game when I was trying to get the abyssal rod from the researcher. She never gave me the generator or the rod, but it keeps telling me I need to put the generator in when I don't have it.

I can’t say I ever found this bug. My initial thought would be to try restarting the game or loading a previous save. Did you manage to find a solution?

Store bought shredded cheese has a starch coating on it that makes it taste worse. Freshly grated cheese is just better🤷🏻‍♂️🙂

If you fully upgrade your ship is there any value in continuing to collect materials? I over dredged and now my inventory and storage are both maxed out. Should I just discard them?

You can sell back dredged materials at the shipyard once you have all upgrades completed. It does kind of become pointless to keep acquiring them though, since most fish you can catch by that point are worth more on a space basis. For example a piece of lumber that takes up 3 spots only sell for about $8.

Sell them if possible, they don't sell for much but it'll give you a bit of cash if you've got a backlog. There is no real point to dredging anymore besides research parts and trinkets. Trinkets for money and research parts for research and also money.

Pleaee someone clear this up. How on earth do you prioritize the jet engine while also getting the abyssal and volcanic rod??? I’m stuck with no research parts and I’m not even that far into the game but I need to catch abyssal…… no one is talking about this issue

If you’re in a pinch for research parts you can buy them from the traveling merchant. You can meet them at any of the major areas outside The Marrows on the pontoon. Additionally Gale Cliffs (bottom right on the map) does not need a specialty rod to be able to catch the fish of the area and you can find some research parts in the area so I would recommend going there after finishing the starting area

Stellar Basin researcher quest will give you the initial abyssal rod (Sampling Device) which will then unlock the ability to upgrade into the abyssal/hadal rod which you can buy from the shipwright or traveling merchant or get the Viscera Crane to get hadal for just a bit of fishing after getting the Sampling Device. Both volcanic rods are unlocked with research with the Volcanic/Coastal needing 2 on its own and the Versatile Rod needing 3 or 4 (I don't remember). If you're trying to get the Oarfish I would recommend coming back for it or if you skipped straight to stellar basin I would work on the quest. Reminder that quest does require you to buy a trawling net and upgrade to a habal rod for the relic. Hope this helped and if you've any questions feel free to hit me up!
