I arrived at 1792 Small Batch when looking at bourbons today at the beach. Was open to trying something probably $60 and under. Saw it at $35 and it just stuck out as a win on value. Tastes great, very smooth

I have both 1792 SB and Buffalo Trace in my cupboard and I must say, I’m reaching for the 1792 SB more often than the Buffalo Trace, especially when enjoying it neat. I do appreciate these double blinds….it proves how hype, labels, etc can sway a person’s perception.

Erin is naming off the Spice Girls while Josh is oblivious to the subtext. What a great episode!! 😁 On a side note, I am Buffalo Trace all day, every day. 1972 is not bad, but I don't love it.

1792 SB was one of the first bourbons I purchased to try as it was on almost every top 5 beginner bourbon list. I enjoyed it but wasn’t necessarily my favorite. I’ve had Buffalo Trace a few times but never really sat down with it and tried to dissect it. I have some of them both left, I’m going to have to try this blind for myself. Thank you so much for the content, I really enjoy it!

Two bottles that I have and love. Got 1792 for $24.99 at Woodmans, Buffalo trace is hard to find, but I did find it at Walmart of all places, and it's gone now, for $27.99. I will buy both when the bottles are empty. Appreciate your video and comments. May do a blind myself tonight for these two.

All we really have available in Ohio is the 1792 SmB - and it's always good for the money but earlier this year I picked up a 1792 FP store pick and it was an absolute revelation. In fact I picked up most of 1792 line up and considering they can all be found as store picks for less than 50 each ( in some states ) I can't recommend them enough. I

Going to make it a habit to join you all more often. But just not three pours at 1 in afternoon.😂 I had both pours in my stash. But the advantage of course was that I knew what they were. I would have to say that the 1792 Small Batch was a little sweeter than the BT. And I did like the little spice. I think I preferred the 1792. Now I just need to start offering up my Buffalo Trace to my guests more often, to get rid of the 3 bottles I have. I guess I fell for the old Buffalo Trace thing as it is so hard to get and I was a rookie at this whiskey thing. Thanks for teaching me. Still a rookie. Thanks for what you do. And that my friends is why they call me....Mr. Wonderful.

I tend to overlook low proof blinds. I keep both of these on hand and can get them for around $30, with BT even a few dollars cheaper sometimes. That said, 1792 SB has been among my favorite everyday bourbons for years. I should blind it against BT and another one or two to confirm that it still holds up.

I havent been enjoying bourbon long, but I am not impressed with Buffalo Trace. I have had three bottles over two years. I keept trying to find out why its so sought after, am I missing something, or perhaps it was a bad bottle. Perhaps its just not my flavor profile. I havent tried 1792 yet, but I have seen it. Now its on my short list of new bottles to try.

@@craiglsu72 BT isnt in huge supply near me, but you can find it for about $26. But to be honest I would rather have Wild Turkey 101 or Old Forester 100 for around that price. The only 1792 I have seen is the small batch, not sure if it will be next or Cooper Craft 100. I havent had either, but I will pick 1792 SB within the next month.

For beginners I have to set aside my personal preferences, which probably would be too strong, with too intense flavors, for newbies. So... Four Roses Small Batch Bluff Springs - a Total Wine store brand that compares very well to Buffalo Trace Bulleit bourbon - to try how a high rye mash bill goes Balcones Baby Blue corn whisky - a nice introduction to dense flavor that's not as intense as their other stuff Elijah Craig Woodford Reserve Tomorrow the list might be different, but as of this moment I'd recommend these to someone just getting into whisky.

I really enjoy 1792. It has a great banana cinnamon spice to it and has that classic "rickhouse" bourbon smell. I think it's the superior of the two. BT smells and tastes very sweet and bright. It lacks depth and has an acidic/sour note.

@@Razieleatssouls, There's a considerable batch variation in the 1792 Small Batches. Most are good, some can be very good, and then there is the occasional stinker. The bonded varies, too: Had one bonded with no banana and another bonded with a lot of banana.

I do find the ‘beginner bourbon’ moniker silly. I have been drinking whiskey for years. For my daily drinkers I prefer lower proof bourbons. For making an old fashioned I prefer a high proof rye. I watch a ton of bourbon videos and they almost all hate on low proof bourbons as if they are somehow inferior to 100 proof bourbons 🤷‍♂️🥃

Finally, after a bunch of videos, the stinky feet are BACK on S&W!!! I like them both but they are quite different, I get cinnamon with 1792 that BT doesn't have. When I started my bourbon journey the guy at the ABC store told me you'll never go wrong with 1792 and E.H. Taylor (and that was the last time I saw EHT, it was 2018).
