The best album in Dolby Atmos is Pearl Jam "Ten". It's sort of difficult to describe what is different between the Atmos mix and the stereo mix, but the band seems to have stripped the audio channels a little bit and pushed the individual instruments and vocals way out so it sounds almost like a very polished live album. It actually seems like you are sitting in the middle of the recording session. Whatever they did, it is a significant difference between the stereo and the Atmos mixes. I'd love to see more of this in the future with classic albums. In many other cases, the Atmos mix does nothing more than possibly move the instruments around a little bit, but it's not an improvement. Many times there's added reverb or other artifacts added to the mix to similate spacialization, but it mutes the audio a bit and sounds like crap compared to the stereo mix. 360 Audio mixes are even worse, and I've never heard a 360 Audio version of a song that was well done or more enjoyable than the stereo version.

Finally someone with the same impression that I had as well! 🙂Good bass (although maybe a bit bloated), excellent sound staging, but mid range and detail pretty much the same as Gen 1. Which to me was a bit disappointing because before testing these I had just listened to a pair of Sennheiser HD 560S (+EQ for flat bass) which made the shortcomings even more obvious. Noise cancelling and transparency mode are both quite impressive, but I couldn't justify the expense (around 300 USD in Sweden) for the upgrade over the Gen 1 I already own. Would I not own a Gen 1 set already, or would I lose / destroy it, then I'd go for this one though. So I think they are worth the extra price over the Gen 1, but a bit shy of justifying an upgrade for those who already have the Gen 1.

Immediately i can come up with a major issue. How would you even begin to power a radio antenna to constantly search in a tv remote with 80s battery tech? How would you even make sure it doesn't misfire from existing waves? Why is it even useful or needed when remotes have a designated place in every home? It really sounds like you just have an acute remote displacing issue that you're taking out on the poor electrical engineers doing their best with infrared. Which is supremely low energy.

I can understand your thought of making the case a DAC and it could be a fun feature. Unfortunately, that will not make any difference since Apple only allows their proprietary codec to be used on their devices, which is already on their iPhone. The AAC codec is not on par with today's standards. A much better Codec is LDAC, which you are not able to use from your out-of-the-box Apple device. but you could use a USB codec that will transmit the audio to any other headset that uses LDAC

What’s the difference between spatial audio and dolby atmos? What happens if I play a atmos track but turn off spatial audio? Or play a atmos track on a non apple headphone (with dolby atmos set to always instead of auto)?
@Spotto262 жыл бұрын
If you turn off spatial audio while using Dolby Atmos, the track that’s currently playing will revert to normal stereo and Atmos will turn off. As for the third party headphones, I think the Atmos just tries it’s best with the hardware you’ve got.
@saramdipm2 жыл бұрын
Dolby Atmos is tech that adds 3D coordinates to audio objects. Spacial Audio is Apple's own rendering and playback software for Dolby Atmos source. In addition to Atmos support, Spacial Audio includes HRTF, which will modify sound based on the shape and position of each ear. In iOS and MacOS Spacial Audio only works with specific Apple headphones since the DSP happens on the headphone itself. If you use any other headphone, you just get stereo output. With Apple TV, Spacial Audio works with my surround sound setup although that might only be due to my receiver's support of Atmos.
@joshuanesbit2 жыл бұрын
@@saramdipm And following on from that, Apple Music on Mac has the option to play Atmos and even through normal wired stereo headphones. is that not really Atmos though?
@saramdipm2 жыл бұрын
@@joshuanesbit I don't know. In order to use Atmos with wired headphones you have to turn the Atmos setting to "always on" from the default of "automatic." Apple's documentation is cagey about what this setting does. I would think it to be binaural Atmos without HRTF, but that's just a wild speculation. I can't find any documentation that says what it actually does.
@saramdipm2 жыл бұрын
@@joshuanesbit I just tried it out with HifiMan planars. With "Always On" selected there is a definite binaural effect from the 3.5mm output. There is no change at all with a USB-C-to-3.5 dongle. The binaural effect is more subdued compared to the AirPods, which is strange to me. The other headphones are so much better sounding in every way with stereo recordings that it's not fair to compare the two. For a reason I don't understand yet, the folding to 2 channels results in a clearly superior spacial sensation when it happens on the H2 chip in the AirPods instead of on the Mac. Either the AirPods firmware has newer and better folding software than the most recent MacOS release and/or the H2 chip is doing some ASIC magic that the M1 isn't capable of. Maybe HRTF?

My friend had an iPhone 4S and I was jealous cuz it was better than my phone in just about every way possible. But now, Apple is monopolistic and anticompetitive. @Trio32242 жыл бұрын
@@sam_9228 The problem with Apple isn't that their proprietary hardware and software work well together. That's obviously a good thing. The problem is how apple DELIBERATELY blocks functionally and delivers lower priority service to people who use an Apple product in conjunction with a non Apple product. For example, I recently thought about trying Apple music now that they have FLAC. Btw, this is one of the absolute only Apple software sevices that they dain to allow non iphones to use. However, when I went to try to sign up and I couldn't remember my apple ID password since it has literally been over a decade since I've had an apple device, I clicked the "forgot my password button". Apple responded with "well do you have a Mac or iPhone?" I said no, so they said, "well do you have a friend or family member that has a Mac or iPhone??". I said no again and then they replied "Well, it's gonna take us 3 whole days just to mail you a reset password link." There is absolutely no rational reason for this. And Apple have openly admitted to these kinds of behaviors being on purpose. Like they've admitted they could allow better messaging between Android and iPhone, but then the messaging features wouldn't be "iPhone exclusives" so therefore people would be less incentivized to buy an iPhone. So they won't do it. I find that kind of behavior unacceptable from a phone company that only has like 25% market share. Heck, I would hate that type of ideology from a company even if they had 90% market share. And again, these aren't the only examples of stuff like this. Apple if full of them from their services, to their airpods, to their watches, etc. Now if you don't have a problem with that, that's totally fine. I can see how some people don't mind exclusivity. But for me personally I really dislike the way Apple operates so I personally will not give them my money even if they make an individual hardware product that I like, because I don't want to encourage their attitude, nor put up with their philosophy of buying only Apple and nothing else.

This happened to me with Gen 1 and has happened again with Gen 2. I have not dropped the $$ to buy the new Samsung buds, but I used to wear the original Galaxy buds for a very long time before I bought the APP Gen 1s. I recently tried them myself and I was honestly somewhat disappointed by the sound quality boost. I'd heard from people that it was night and day, but it didn't quite seem to me. Without Adaptive EQ lows were boosted and upper-mids/lower-treble tamed, but it was hardly a must-have upgrade- it overall felt like a mere polish of what the first gen was able to accomplish.
@HansProbs2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. I AB’d both on several tracks and could hear the better bass. But it wasnt by much. The mids/highs were slightly different but not “better”. The noise cancellation and transparency modes were noticeably better. But I was more excited about a boost in SQ and was left with meh :/

I got mines yesterday and I couldn’t resist to go back to my M3. The pro 2 are really good for apple Ecosystem and calls, podcast etc but sound quality is far far behind.

@@joncruz Do you listen to them with or without Adaptive-EQ? In my experience, Adaptive-EQ will thin out vocals, suck out the mids (just a tad), and boost the midbass. To my ear, turning it off yields more full vocals and more forward subbass.

Bit weird, no? I have both the Airpods Pro 2 and the Bower & Wilking PI 7s and the Airpods sound like tin cans compared to the PI 7s. The Airpods are good for conference calls, but not for music, compared to the PI 7s.

Totally agree with you there mate, not sure he can say they are they best when in the video he hasn’t compared them to any other TWS. If you get the chance try and listen to the Noble Fokus Pro, it’s a three driver Hybrid passive TWS, has hearing test via the app plus pre set and ten band EQ. Tuned by the Wizard from Noble Audio, also they have just released a two driver Hybrid noise cancelling TWS called the Fokus H -ANC.

The only TWS that I know of worth the price for the sound are EarFun Free Pro 2's with Oluv's firmware EQ from Patreon. Those make my Dusk redundant with certain genres, forced me to improve the EQ on my LCD-X over days to enjoy them as much and are pretty cheap.

There are plenty of alternatives - 1 more evo's, technics, lp3s etc

I just don’t get it, am I missing something? I don’t feel these are the best earbuds like everyone is claiming. I don’t think they are much better than the beats fit pro to be honest. I’ve been having a lot of issues with audio skipping with the app2. Has anyone tried these compared to the Bose qc 2?

These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. kzbin.infoUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.

@UtkarshSingh-uk6ey2 жыл бұрын
lol dude the pro 2 is better than the 1000 XM4 in every way. I mean yeah the ANC is close but the mic on the sony's sound trash. The call quality is now a big deal for many people and even the transparency is much better on the airpods. Let's just wait what the newer sony will sound like because the pro 2 has clearly defeated the 1000 XM4

The pros have better soundstage, better midrange and sound more open . The xm4 have boomier bass but the air pods have deeper bass
