Nice one, Sabrah. The best portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, in my opinion, was Jeremy Brett's. The episodes were very faithful to the original stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Any film featuring Robert Morley, David Niven, Angela Lansbury, James Robertson Justice, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Dame Judi Dench would be good tuition (+grand entertainment). You might also add a category, films set in WW2, such as "The Great Escape", "The Bridge on the River Kwai" & "Dambusters". In comedy, the old Ealing comedies, starring, among others, Sir Alec Guiness & Stanley Holloway, would also be most educational. And we mustn't forget that most British of musicals, "My Fair Lady" (or, for purists, "Pygmalion", starring Leslie Howard & Wendy Hiller). Keep up the good work, both of you. Your videos are most enjoyable.

I recommend "Our girl" for those whose like series with army and medical content. Be prepared for more army and action stuff. I've had to watch it with lyrics because I'm more familiar with american english, but the serie was worth all it.

What is more, we have had in Polish state TV 'Jeden z Dziesięciu' (One of Ten) which is an equivalent of the British Fifteen to One. As for the accents, Polish people recognize, understand, acquire the following accent in an chronological way: 1. RP - Leila & Sarah 2. General London accent 3. Birmingham 4. Manchester 5. Liverpool - Scouse (I am sorry Sabrah) ----------------------------------------- 6. Cockney - I have intentionally marked it as a different accent because for us it is a different language and we do not understand it at all. Love English UK ❤😘😚😘🤗

Do you honestly think that these films are good for learning English? The language is very complicated. Even my B2 students would struggle to watch large parts of it. The best way to learn about films is to be guided through small sections with a teacher. The section may be connected to grammar, understanding some dialogue in a film, understanding the actions of characters, a discussion about a particular issue or incident in a film. I think very few students unless they are C1 could get through a whole film from beginning to end.

Is it normal that I found the Sherlock Holmes series really difficult to understand? The main actor speaks very quickly... Plus also in Game of thrones accents are tricky and sentences are sometimes a bit complicated, I couldn't watch it without subtitles.
