I look for quality of materials. I'd love to have a full titanium, but that's really getting pricey. I've cheaped out in the past and it basically sounds like fence post. Thin walled piping is usually alot cheaper but you get what you pay for.

Can these headers be installed the way they come or do you need excel plug wires?
@ClassyHaze3 жыл бұрын
I was one of the first people to get my hands on these headers for my zl1, Andrew is a great guy. He personally called me to see how they fit and if I like them. They're amazing, I love how they sound.

Also, stock camaros already have X pipes but the dual mode exhaust is what’s kept me from doing aftermarket. It’s nice retaining the stealth mode

As a fellow ZL1/1LE owner, I am in the same boat as you. This video was right on the money! Great job to help me decide on choosing the headers. We need to see more content on the ZL1/1LE. Would love to see the install video and/or footage inside and outside the cabin on the difference in sound. In addition - I have to ask why you went with Catless headers. Are you concerned about the smell going Catless? Assuming you are not concerned about emissions. Michelin PS4S tires make a huge difference in ride quality and gets to temperature a lot faster. I relegate the GY3R tires paired to Apex ARC8 wheels purely for the track.
@DavidWilks Жыл бұрын
I also run the PS4S tires on my stock wheels and found at the drag strip on my completely wasted GY SC3Rs after three trackday weekends at Barber MS Park and AMP... they still had enough grip to net a 1.62 60ft & 10.92@128 with the A10. I set my launch RPM at 2100 and a slip of 11% at Darlington Dragway which is a very well prepped surface. I started with a lower launch RPM and the car would bog, TCM would do wonky stuff and it made me more frustrated than anything. My focus on Headers is to reduce backpressure and the heat while road racing... my "home track" is Road Atlanta as I have found with the ZLE, anything with less of an open area to stretch the legs of this car is a waste of the tires & entry fee! I just posted several Livestream videos on my channel from this weekend's bullying of Corvettes, BMWs and Porsche toys if anyone is wanting to see what a ZLE is capable of!

I also did a ton of research before buying these same headers. Two things: Coatings do make a difference in temps, but it is highly dependent on which coating you get. If you're focused on safety(plug wires), and it seems like you are, a coating is a no brainer. I had them coated by Swain Tech, which from my experience is the most effective, longest lasting coating. Not cheap though. Second, these were about $1150 including new gaskets during black friday 2020, from the stock ON HAND, not next batch. if you can wait until next year black friday(most can't) it'll probably be cheaper. There was a case of a guy on the forums melting his coolant reservoir with uncoated headers, so I would get the Mishimoto aluminum coolant tank if you're not gonna coat the headers.

Thank you for the break down. Thanks to your video I'm going with CSP for my ZL1. FYI, I believe traction control is actually more intrusive in track mode as track mode is calibrated with road course racing in mind. Sport mode with competition mode active should retain stablitrak but remove traction control.

Stainless Works is about an hour and a half from me here in Ohio, they make some really nice stuff. Just remember though, GM as well as Ford and Dodge are making these sports cars so good from the factory now that a tune alone can get you a bunch of power. Check out the Race Proven Motorsports youtube channel, they have a bunch of videos that can give you a lot of info especially on what mods not to waste money on

Be careful dumping the clutch when the tires are cold. On stock power, I broke the tires loose at 70mph on the highway. The rear end wiggles a little before hooking up. Pucker factor level 6.

Nice video @TORQ Toolbox I forgot to ask you in your last ZL1 video but how can you along with other car youtubers have no facial expression or reaction whatsoever when full throttling in a supercar (I'd definitely consider this to be a supercar) I got really excited just riding in a coworker of mine's charger R/T and was smiling the rest of the day (ok maybe week😅) and a lot of content creators seem to drive 600+ HP cars and have the facial expression of someone driving a Prius.

I think the newer cars are so well put together that it kinda numbs the feeling you get from the acceleration.

@@TORQToolbox I wonder if through suspension or something they can make cars feel even faster when it throws you back in your seat while accelerating that would be so much fun on a track or at the drag strip

I would love to see a 1 7/8 then swap to 2" because speed inc in Chicago that built my zl1 said the 2" doesn't show a gain till you reach 1,000hp. I did do a back to back same day roto fab vs the roto fab big gulp and that did not make any more power or tq. It did move my ram's up 200rpm but no 20hp like I expected. I have a Maggie, cam, and everything else. I believe Andrew did a video roto fab vs big gulp and he gained 20hp. That's why I went with the big gulp but wasted the $550. Because of no gain and its hard to get a shoo to take shit back.
@DavidWilks Жыл бұрын
I have the RotoFab and all it does is add noise & underhood heat to the IATs. I have YET to see one dyno pull with the hood closed and anyone showing true numbers versus the stock airbox which is actually sealed from the underhood temps. I road race my ZLE and monitor my IATs & MATs with the Banks iDash/Datamonster while running down the back straight at Road Atlanta. Take a note to also understand, adding a RotoFab in most instances, also requires tuning from stock... so once again, all advertised numbers are with the hood open vs baselines.
