I have lived here for 30 years and it's been a good kept secret about the North Cascades. I have hiked most of it for years as a Trail Correspondent for Washington Trail Association. I love the place because of the limited access to the big groups of people. You just can't beat the place. I know every nook and cranny about this place and there is lots more camping from a truck. I put air mattress in back and drive up to 7000 feet in the mountains in spots on forest roads and camp all alone. Perfect sunrises and sunsets. My wife and I love camping at Colonial Creek and kayaking the whole lakes edge between Diablo Lake Dam and Ross Lake Dam. It takes us about 4.5 hours to do with a picnic stop along the way.

We used to love camping at colonial creek at Diablo Lake. But now if you don’t have a reservation forget it. The last time we went there hoping to get a campground without a reservation. When you get up there you can’t get a campsite unless you booked it. The problem is there is no cell service there. If you’re able to dry camp, you can camp at cutthroat lake trailhead. That day we tried to camp at colonial creek we ended up going east about an hour drive to klipshuck campground. Klipschuck is a really nice campground with vault toilets. Also unfortunately the hiking trails are almost impossible to park and hike. The bottom line is don’t go there without a reservation.

Wonderful video and presentation. Thank you for your work. It is a wonderful region. Heads up though, good sir, the "g" in Skagit is like the "g" from "gel" or "Geronimo," not like the 'g" in "girl" or "grandma." Love your presentation though. Keep them coming. You pack a lot of info into a finite space and do it in a natural and relaxed way. My best to you.

The most spectacular spot in the North Cascades that I have camped at is the summit of Luna Peak. The only problem is that it is rather difficult to access.

Thank you so much. You might note that sometimes there is dramatic flooding and slides and they need to pay close attention. I also think there might be PUD parks.

Seth confirms that he was, in fact, joking (he's not only a great video producer but also a real jokester!) You can find more information on reducing the impact of your recreation on public lands over on the Campendium website: www.campendium.com/camping/mother-nature-shes-not-your-maid/

@mosquitobite1014 жыл бұрын
It doesn't take much work to pronounce things correctly. I hear this about the Oregon Gorge too...The Dalles.... it's correctly pronounced The Dalles not The Dales...its about correct details especially if you have lived there then one should know these details.

@@Campendium Well Liz, its NOT my own as you would think. I would love to have taken credit for the name but it's about being correct especially if your going to write, video or put out some form of resource for the public.
