Thanks for taking time to share your canteen kit. I shop flea markets & thrift stores where I was fortunate enough to purchase a used military canteen & cup for $5; 3 NEW items for $15 included a canteen cup stove, Dave Canterbury canteen cup lid, & new military canteen pouch. TOTAL: $20.

Thank you for posting this video. It’s always nice to see an example of what a specific piece of gear will hold, especially before purchasing it. I bought that same Helikon-Tex Essential Kit bag a few years ago and was surprised that it had less carrying volume than I’d expected. I still enjoy using it. But the side pouch zippers have a limited range of travel so it’s a tighter fit getting things in and out. And the interior slip pockets don’t offer a lot of “play”. I did find a compass pouch made by Condor with MOLLE /Pals webbing that attaches nicely to the front of the Kit Bag and that actually adds a good deal of room to carry additional gear. And I discovered the rear slip pocket of the Kit Bag allows for carrying a flat fold Emberlit Stove or a Firebox Nano, which is a plus. All in all I’m pleased with the investment. But an investment it was, so I thought folks might appreciate knowing it’s a tad smaller than it appears in the online retailer photos. Again, another reason your video is very helpful and relevant.

Hands down the best canteen kit I've had is the Keith Canteen Set and Helikon-Tex Essential Kitbag! I can't understand why but cold water drank out of this canteen is the best water ever! LOL! Nice gear is such a joy to own and use. 😎

Looks good, I would say your slim pocket behind the buckle was for your water tads similar to the gi canteen cover. But how ever you run it is up to you.

I have that very Heliikon-Tex but in a camo. I keep a GeoPress which is inside a Pathfinder stainless steel cup which is made for it. The cup has a lid which I keep in one of the inside pockets. In a side pocket, I keep a canvas prefilter for the GeoPress to keep the mainfilter cleaner and lasting longer. On the very back outside pocket there is a bit of molle strapping but underneath that is a pouch which fits my Bahco Laplander. A velcro tab at the bottom of the pouch keeps it from falling through. If I want to carry a camp axe, I simply open the velcro and insert the hatchet till the head is stopped by the top opening. It is very versatile and effective and I almost always use the neck strap hung on the side of my body. Lots of versatility with these units and I have been thinking about acquiring a Ti Canteen as well for even more versatility.

I've used a BCB crusader mk1 kit for years but just got the one corporal's corner uses and its brilliant. Need a good pouch like this as I cant fit much in the British army plce pouch I've been using the whole lot is a bit all over the place. Good video dude keep it up. 😎🤜🤛

For GI canteen I use the Molly with the side pockets. Side pockets I use for fire starters, some of the other items I use are pocket carry items, I use the plastic canteen cause it’s much lighter, I don’t have a titanium canteen. Do have a pathfinder steel canteen that I keep in the truck, I might use it if I’m not walking to far, don’t like to weigh myself down

I have an early Emberlit stove that fits in that interior slot pocket. The outside pockets will hold a BCB Dragon stove FWIW. Makes a nice kit for a short hike away from camp. I like the slot pocket on the back for carrying an axe if I am gathering firewood or clearing a trail.

Have several bottle pouches, mostly surplus British and Dutch but mostly use a washing line peg bag as a brew kit pouch and have my canteens on the side pouches of my rucksack. It looks like a storage pouch for round Billy pots but works well. My small stuff is stored in an old larger pencil case but this will be replaced as it picks up moisture too easily. I've had one of those bigger canteen pouches and they just didn't work for me but that looks like a nice one, I hope it works for you.

I think I would exchange the hank of tactical cord with a light tarp or poncho. Together with the bankline that could make an emergency shelter

I like your idea of a USGI poncho ,with a couple of stakes and lines = a quick shelter. Shelter , fire, & water = 72 hr. Survival

Building off the budget canteen video I did, where I had a poncho. Didn't really feel it necessary to rehash that. But it's definitely a great add.

I've recently gotten to using microcord for most lightweight tarp setups. Not as easy to use as paracord, but you can carry so much of it, and it's plenty strong.

After that upgraded canteen kit one still needs a Grayl water filter and millbank filter. Maybe after that nothing else would be needed.

Hi, the Amazon Stainless Steel Canteens sets are junk. After 2 weeks of use, the rust appeared around the seam. I have the Pathfinder Canteen set Gen 2. Until today, There's no rust. I'm planning to buy the new Pathfinder Canteen Bottle set with the butterfly handles cup. I love the Titanium Canteen Bottle but I hate the cup. For my Survival Emergency Bag, I'll never leave home without my PF Canteen. It can be use as a Weapon. It can be used to dispatch a trapped animal. Thanks

How is that $ 300? Bag $45 Good canteen and cup$45 Swiss army $40 Bank line and paracord $25 Water tabs $15 Whistle $10 Headlamp $45 Kit is only expensive when going all out at once. Buy slowly over time to build capability, buy cheap once to figure out what you really need or even if you need better. Then buy the best thing that will last and meet your exact needs. Most people who buy this bag already have several items and can build over time.
