You hit the nail on the head for Dusk Legion Duelist when you mentioned Trelasarra. You usually run cleric class and heliod with soul sisters. The duelist will get counters and will get you cards.😊

I'm running it in my Shalai deck, which is a tuned version of the Backup precon. It's a great backup target because of the built in vigilance. Love that card!

To flip any battle with 6 or less counters for 3 mana just bring chain lightning. As you are the controller you are can copy it as many times as you need, mana allowing.

I have Dusk Legion in my Selvala explorer returned, returned deck. The deck’s whole theme is healing which then gives +1/+1 counters to build a massive board. He just gives more card draw in a deck that loves to see the whole deck and heal and Smack. 3 step plan. 😊

Rachel, I know you probably won't read this, but you have a great personality and voice for podcasting. It's literally perfect, and your style is a huge boon to Jimmy and Josh. Jimmy has the actor/ Hollywood thing down, Josh has the formal professionals/ scientific feel and you have that personable and animated vibe, but you're also so smooth with it. Even when you trip over a word, you make it feel like it was intentional.

Sword of Once and Future seems very strong for Feather, the Redeemed along with Sunforger.

I think it's also good in a Urabrask/Birgi deck since you cast a lot of cheap spells to get value and the sword says you cast it. And, I think there's a lot of value to provide protection to blue and black, the colors with a ton of removal and shenanigans.

When this came out, I put a couple See Doubles into a 60 card constructed deck just to test it out on arena. I ran into a situation that happens. I had to mulligan and I wasn't satisfied with the hand I had to keep. Meanwhile my opponent cheated out an attacking bronze dragon I couldn't block and it brought out another dragon after damage. Usually this is an instant concede but I drew a See Double and with my 4 mana was able to copy their bronze dragon. I ended up coming back to win a completely lost game. Really impressed by this card. You can do so much with it if you know what your doing and it should be really popular in commander.

Fun stuff for sword of once and future. The exile part is a replacement effect, which means it stacks against other replacement effects (in the order you want if you control both) useful in say...Feather the Redeemed.

City on Fire seems pretty well designed for a Marath deck. Pump out smaller creatures, use them to tap to cast City, now suddenly you've got the power to bolt anything you don't like at any time. And Marath already has plenty of ways to put more counters on himself so seems like a decent add.

For the Dusk Legion Duelist card: There is a very old card from Mercadian Masques, "Ley Line", that at the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player may put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.

Actually after brainstorming a deck on moxfield I have found that Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward is a better commander for a convoke theme. He can make tokens by exiling creatures you've convoked with on etb and then you can blink him to bring them back untapped.

Something I think is worth remembering with Pyre of the World Tree is the Kamigawa Channel Lands. You're discarding them for their effects, *and* now you get an added bonus from the Pyre as well.

K two things. 1) Been hearing a lot of podcasts say that the three pips on Tribute to the World Tree makes it a mono-green card. I get why they say that but there are a lot of ways around that in deckbuilding. For instance, a 3 or even 4-color deck where almost every land taps for (at least) two colors, and all lands those lands tap for green. 2) I know it's a pretty weak card, but really excited for the new Invasion of Muraganda battle, because it's technically removal that flips into an ooze, and I just happen to building an Ooze tribal deck, so we're now at 7 ooze-tribal removal spells in Simic colors. (Black has a couple more as well.)

I am adding Invasion of New Capenna/Holy Frazzle-Cannon to my Alela artifact build. Comes down, sac a 1/1 token or artifact like ichor wellspring and exile a big threat. Easy to flip with 2/1 fliers. Then once you equip Alela, massive buff to all your faerie tokens on each attack.

Hoarding Broodlord seems great in Evelyn. You're already playing creatures to exile cards. Getting to use those creatures for mana to cast those cards seems like great synergy.

I designed a custom commander. Vivalli \ {1}{B){G}{U} \ 3/4 \ "Whenever you exile one or more creature cards from an opponent's graveyard, look at the top three cards of your library. Put one of them into your hand and the rest into the graveyard." Breach of the Multiverse would go great into that deck, since I mill my opponents to then exile creatures from their graveyards. The main goal is to mill them out and turn that action into card draw by using effects such as Withered Wretch.

Kasla the Broken Halo is a ton of fun. I added some token generation for more Convoke power... and City on Fire made sense to include. Also, it's the first deck where I looked at Halo Gountain and said... 'hey, that'll actually do something'.

I think Dusk Legion Duelist is an auto include in counters decks. Sure there are better burst draws once you have a board but this is creature that gets counters and lets you hit land drops in early game. Really underestimating how good turn 2 draw is.

Dusk legion Duelist in a Lathiel Deck is pretty niche/solid. Since Lathiel triggers at each end-step and you can pop counter on it with the life gain ability, just have to build the deck to reliably gain life on opponents turns, and poof you've got some card draw.

About the city on fire, it can be really easy to get out for very little mana in a token deck. Especially if you don't have haste because you can tap summon sick creature for convoke.

I used Ozolith, the shattered spire with Slimefoot & Squee and the new voldaran. Summon them both, give slimefoot the back up counters from voldaran then sac them both to bomb something. Use slimefoots ability to recur itself and voldaran, rince/repeat. If i draw Yurgle and Multani, bam 20 straight damage.

While I agree with Rachel overall on Sword of Once & Future, I'm going to test it out in my Feather deck. Basically every spell in the deck can be cast off it, and will return to my hand via Feather's trigger. It might end up too expensive/cute, but I at least want to give it a try before I write it off entirely. My only complaint is now we don't have uniform Chris Rahn artwork on all the Swords in the cycle! Forge & Frontier and Once & Future broke the pattern!

Feather, the Redeemed and Sword of Once and Future are practically made for each other. Feather decks should be full of one and two mana instants and sorceries. Feather’s replacement effect replaces the sword’s, so not only do you cast your cantrip for free, it goes back to your hand next end step. The spells in Feather aren’t blue or black, so unlike Sword of Forge and Frontier, it doesn’t ruin the synergy of the deck (can’t cast red spells on a creature holding Sword of Forge and Frontier). Yes, most spells aren’t going to end up in the graveyard of a Feather player as they resolve, but the sword perfectly circumvents this problem with the surveil effect.

I think battle sieges is a cool way to give vorinclex a downside if someone is playing with battles by halving the counters of opponents battles and doubling your own if you run them. Its not too big of a deal cause its easy to disregard but this makes the decision a little more tough when or how to play him.

Marath, Will of the Wild is the single best +1/+1 counter deck of all time and I'll be putting Dusk Legion Duelist in mine the second I get one. A 2/2 vigilance that becomes a 3/3 and draws a card on the turn it comes in, then is a 6/6 that has drawn me 3 more cards if it I untap with it. Yes yes yes YES, all day long yes. 😊

An angel/life gain theme deck with Archangel of Thune works very well with Dusk Legion Duelist. Lots of instant gain 4 or 5 life and draw a card.

I'm hoping that city on fire is a house in my awakened blood avatar deck. You can tap tokens for the convoke, then immediately sacrifice them for a hasty avatar which deals 3 damage to each opponent on attack, then that gets doubled to 9. Depending on how many tokens I have, I might be able to cast ATBA 2 or 3 times, dealing 9-27 damage per opponent on the same turn city on fire comes down. Fingers crossed this dream scenario happens

dusk legion duelist was an auto include in my Edgar Markov deck. a lot of the deck is built around getting +1/+1 counters on my vampires. it also combos really well with invasion of new capena's flip side holy frazzle cannon. the card by its self is kinda meh but it has always worked really well in the deck so far.

I use dusk legion duelist in Reyhan/Keleth. I dont give all creatures +1/+1 counters like felidar retreat. instead i tend to suedo voltron one thing. gets 5 cards on average a game. but this is a very specific use case for a deck i play in precon level magic.

I am considering Dusk Legion Duelist as I finish up my Optimus Prime deck. With access to blue there seems to be better sources of draw, but thematically the Duelist fits better. I'm considering Axgard Artisan for a similar reason. I'm also looking at Sunfall as one of my board wipes.

I put Dusk Legion Duelist in my Felisa, Fang of Silverquill deck. While Felisa doesn't grant +1/+1 counters herself, the whole deck is based around counters, and it's extremely easy to put one on the Duelist every turn. Plus, should an opponent ever kill it, you get that extra utility off of Felisa's triggered ability.

I wish Hoarding Broodlord fit better into my Aminatou deck. Abdel Adrian and Preston can almost turn this card into a free tutor to the battlefield... almost. But... if you have enough creatures on the battlefield to justify its cost, it feels a bit too win more and without them... it's 8 mana with three of the same pip.

I played breach the multiverse for the first time yesterday in a four man commander. I hit absolutely trash and realized im playing vs two control decks and a artifact deck LOL i hit two creatures . Its a awesome card but gotta realize the match ups where its viable . Def be more carful next time even if i had cabal and uraborg lol
