Honestly, you need to pull a good sustain, they are the makers and breakers of your team. The difference I felt when I went from Lynx to Lingsha is between walking and a car. Like, with Lynx it takes Skill points to heal and her ult only heals 1 time, but with Lingsha you not only get another breaker on the team, but you also get the bun which means that the ult from the 4 star Lynx can be replaced twice over with only Lingsha's skill, and then there's her ult where if you play it right, then you get 4 heals in a row along with damage. So, yeah, a good sustain will make your team.

I mean, yeah, but Lingsha isn't a sustain, she's Erudition/Superbreak/Sustain hybrid. She's completely underrated and the strongest "sustain" in the game by a significant margin right now.

I have Aventurine at E2S1 and Lingsha at E1S1, but she’s competitive with him at his own FuA team, and I find myself getting slightly better performances with Lingsha even at Acheron teams. However, if we switch their niches, he can’t compete with her in a break team, while she can compete with him in FUA and hypercarry. Also, break is such a core mechanic rn + there’s fire weakness everywhere, so she ends up contributing even more.

Support: Either Ruan Mei or Robin. RM if you're leaning into the break playstyle or Robin if you lean into crit DPSes. Sustain: Aventurine. Bro will never let you die and he does good damage at the same time. DPS: For new/F2P players, Firefly. She's incredibly easy to build, easy to play, and her BiS support is a free character (Harmony Trailblazer). BiS sustain is also borderline free, Gallagher.

A good way to test whether or not you want to try out certain team archetypes is to use their 4 star variants. Sushang/Xueyi for Break, Sampo/Luka for DoT, March/Moze for FuA, Dan Heng/Hook for Hypercarry, Misha/Qingque for Ult, and Herta/Serval for AoE. MoC isn't the end-all-be-all for the game, it's just a single area used to put a spotlight on new Hunt/Destruction units. A single character can get maybe a few MoCs in their favor before getting tossed to the side for half a year or longer. A good rule of thumb is to remember that powercreep is vicious in this game. Literally one moment you could pull for Acheron and think "I should be good, right?" then Firefly comes out a few patches later and decimates enemies faster/harder. Even support units get powercrept, and older units rarely get relics built for them to help them out past release. Each version seems to jump a couple million points of health in the endgame modes, so there isn't much point in "investing long-term" when every new pull is almost always going to be better than the last. Thankfully you don't gain nearly enough jades to justify pulling every character because the meta told you so. Story mode is ridiculously easy, and events give out trial characters strong enough to get your free jades. TL;DR: Just pull for who you like and have fun.

since day 1 (seele banner) i never had a true dps and my acc literally have all harmony and nihility (my first dps is Kafka and my first true dps is jingliu) and honestly it's fine for early players just playing with supports since you can clear early game content with them (I used to play e0s0 SW dps 😂), and now I'm at end game... I'm kinda glad i started with all support since I did not have to build extra units since.... I already build them in day 1 😂. And i can pull any dps and have their supports (except IL since i don't pull sparkle, cuz I don't really like her, I also didn't pull jiaoqiu since my acc has an ikemen & femboy ban lmao)

Build a new account for a few months this year since Aventurines banner. The account is better than my original account bc I pulled reasonable characters that work off of one another. I even completed the Forgotten Hall with 36 stars lately. Aventurine, Robin, Feixiao are my must-have recommendations. Followup Teams are amazing, if you get Himeko or Clara from the standard banner or beginner banner you‘re good to go. Hunt March is synergizing amazingly with Feixiao or Clara. Aventurine will be grateful for many FU attacks. Robin loves a FU team, too, and also is an amazing support for any characters, just boosting dmg and getting more attacks by round with her burst. Ruan Mei is nice to have.

After i got Rappa i just discovered a new world with break. Imma get fugue so my Rappa gets stronger and stronger! Super recommend Rappa and Feixiao tbh, they use different supports and break toughness bar even when the enemy is not weak to it. Super nice!

If you're struggling not knowing who to pull for, go for supports and sustains. If you're planning to pull for a DPS, go for Acheron, Firefly, Feixiao, or other meta dps units, but do bear in mind that they will most definitely be powercrept in future patches. DPS are temporary, supports and sustains are forever. Unless you're planning to pull for the one and only King Yuan. He's managed to stay somewhat relevant until today, just casually catching buffs. Now that Sunday is coming out, his major issue (slow af lightning lord) is getting fixed with Sunday's skill. Been with the general since 1.0 and I'm incredibly happy that he can once again stand with the top DPS units (seriously, his damage now rivals the top DPS units like Acheron).

Acheron is a great pull since she helps such a ton for exploration for normal enemies. Just gotta get some trick snacks in order to not run out of technique points. As for the sustains... Either Fu Xuan or Aventurine. It's best to go for Aventurine, but Fu Xuan was the one that kept my team alive most of the time very consistently but Aventurine is super better as I never get damaged even once when I farm

Ruan Mei is the most versatile option for me. Speed + breakefficiency + delay after break help a lot for sustaining. Aventurine does provide a good amount of dmg himself while he's keeping your team alive. I feel like there are more mechanics that need you to break an enemy. Having SP friendly units helps a lot with team building. Also there is nothing wrong to pull for Characters if you struggle in a specific game mode like Jade for Pure Fiction. She and Herta can brute force even of elemt enemys.

DPS: Firefly, Acheron and Kafka as all 3 have strong F2P setups and are applicable in all 3 game modes (Kafka working with Acheron) Supports: Ruan Mei and Robin. They have strong buffs and good utilities tbh. They can reliably solo buff or work in double harmony setups

I pull for characters I like, design-wise or personality-wise, and sometimes luckily both. It was tougher in Genshin... I'm a Dehya main, for example, and it hasn't always felt good or been easy pushing all of my resources into her. But it's worth it in the end. I've gotten luckier in Star Rail; characters like Kafka, Topaz, and Jingliu have driven me quite well. And I picked Ruan Mei early for her visual design and... interesting character, and this plus easy access to Harmony Trailblazer made it an easy choice to invest into Break and of the Big Three I decided on Firefly. Similarly, I'm a massive fan of follow-ups, having a strongly built Clara and Topaz, Aventurine, even an early-adopted Himeko BEFORE she was cool, and eventually Feixiao, which made it similarly easy for me to decide to invest in Robin. And my few guilty pleasures, weaker characters or characters who might otherwise struggle who I also happen to like, such as Argenti, is probably going to be boosted by supports now and in the future, and maybe even built into new content like Pure Fiction.

Me personally i really suggest boothill cause he does So much damage especially if you have ruan mei with mc harmony cause dont forget for a special trace he gets crit percentages based on his break effect so getting relics with crit damage is not a bad thing like boothill can just destroy bosses whatever you need so if your a break enjoyer heck even a crit enjoyer hes gonna be amazing Plus HES HOT

I think I'm going to recommend characters that work well with free characters , 4 star characters, and standard 5 star characters and tackle MoC, Pure Fiction and Apocalypse fast 1. Ruan Mei / Firefly : work with these characters : Harmony Trailblazer (Break Buff), Xueyi (for Ruan Mei), Asta (for Firefly) Galagher (4 Star) I recommend Ruan Mei more than Firefly 2. Acheron : Great with many 4 star debuff characters : Guinafen Pela and Galagher ( 4 stars ) and 5 stars standard like Welt, Gepard or even Trailblazer Fire 3. Robin : Great with Follow Up team and any team , work with some free characters like March 7th Hunt, Dr Ratio 4 star like Moze Herta (for Pure Fiction) and 5 Star Standard like Clara, Himeko 4. Aventurine (Great with any team, there were some good 4 star sustainer already like Galagher and Lynx but Aventurine make the game so much easier) Acheron is going to be here soon too, so that's nice

As for characters I recommend is Yunli not only she’s fun to play besides being like clara yunli gets 100% crit dmg so don’t have to worry too much about crit dmg but I also believe she’s very f2p friendly

She definitely is, she has a great variety of f2p and premium teams and has good lc options, while her sig is a great qol upgrade she doesn't feel lacking without it. Not only that she's a great pick for all 3 endgame modes. I have her and feixiao on an alt account and I think she's very close to feixiao level (heck I main Acheron on my main and I'd recommend yunli over Acheron to a new player any day)

of all the dps'es i feel blackswan is the most future-proof of all of them. DoT is destined to get a new support that can greatly improve the teams. aswell as i don't think black swan will ever get powercrept due to her having some of the highest damage scalings in the game, and a very unqiue kit.

I recommend Jiaoqiu an overall really good support that can increase the dmg of any team you put him on I love my Jiaoqiu and hope others pull for him if you have extra pulls E1 over the LC.

I say of all the team archetypes I recommend the FuA team. Since hypercarry is kinda dead since the Hypercarry has to do heavy damage for the team, the break team might be good. However, there will be one enemy where they lock their weakness. It's rare, but it does happen. Meanwhile, the FuA team has broken support Robin, broken sustainer Aventurine, a sub dps Topaz, and either Feixiao or Ratio. Also, they scale off of crit which they can be very universal. Sadly, this team is not very cheap. Sure, there are replacements, but noting beat the premium support. I recommend either Rappa or Firefly for the break team since during AS, there is usually an boss who has multiple enemy. Im not saying Boothill is bad it just that if you follow my previous advice, the Hunt character you already got covered since most FuA are hunt character. As a personal experience, I saw the power Ruan Mei and Firefly since on my alt account, I got both around 50 pulls total, and my god, they helped me clear endgame content so easily. It possibly because my latest dps I pulled was Blade and he meh especially in 2.3 Also if you couldn't choose just follow the rule of favorite over meta

Adventurine and Ruan Mei/Robin… you can run any team with these characters… My current strategy is to build a team for each archetype. I already have DoT, Break, FuA, and Hypercarry (least favorite since hard to build). Rumors say summons/servants will be next so I will be pulling for Sunday. I am hoping for DoT team’s comeback…. (Maybe) 😂

Since HSRs endgame is quite unfair and super bias...there are no "best DPS" since they only shine when Hoyo wants them too. Supports and sustain are the true overall value. I wish this game was less bias towards new stuff.

Personally one, or my best pull, is Feixiao, if youve got Robin it is the right choice, she is very powerful and very fun to play, at first I wasnt going to pull because I had a very strong Ratio, but she jumpscared me in the third random multi I did, then with Ratios same artifacts she did lots of damage.

Step 1 : Decide on your play style (that has some future value and can clear endgame content) Step 2 : Save up for the dps + dedicated support (one with the other is meh) The only exception as of now is Aventurine cuz he makes the team kinda unkillable. Also pull for supports or other characters that sync well with your playstyle. Just pulling supports will backfire without the intended dps. Also pick dps that can break colourlessly. It's as simple as that.

If u can get to these stats with what u have, then no light cone is needed. Btw I'm running support sets on him, so if u use the defence sets u can get more stats than me.

I have e1s1 fu xuan from being lucky and she is such a comfortable character and I highly recommend. Only downside is that she can be a bit of a struggle in long fights or against really strong enemies.

For outright support units I'd say there are 3 that outshine the rest; Ruan Mei, Sparkle and Robin. For DPS units I personally would never recommend break DPS' unless you have Ruan Mei because they're infinitely harder to make the most out of without her even if they can implant their own weakness type onto enemies like Boothill and Firefly, the teams are just lacklustre and I personally hate using them because of how much I've been shafted in getting Ruan Mei who I still don't have, yet I do have Boothill and Rappa. I will never not regret pulling them unless I'm able to get Ruan Mei. Instead there are really only 2 DPS characters I would recommend over any others in a heartbeat and those are Feixiao and Acheron, both of which are my favourite characters so I am biased but at the same time they massively outshine break DPS' because they rely on Ruan Mei too much and I will die on this hill, fight me anyone who thinks otherwise. For sustain again there are only 3 that really still matter and those are Aventurine over anyone else, why else have no other preservation characters been released and the answer is Aventurine, then also Luocha and Lingsha as the other sustains

@ if the enemies are either fire or imaginary weak, March will be better, but otherwise Xueyi will outperform. Xueyi does better into non-favorable matchups since her Ult has omnibreak, so for a new player who just wants to go through the game on auto-battle it’s kinda just what I recommend.

i think only Ruan mei is the closest unit to a must pull right now. She works with everyone and is an important unit for Break teams, Robin can be as good too but she isnt a good option for Break teams unlike RM. - As for the rest, its up to the team. The current meta is good for Break/FUA so units like Firefly, Rappa, Topaz, Feixiao, etc is great to be pulled. While DOT isnt in a good state right now, but that will might change again. As for sustains i think 1 limited sustain is enough since Gallagher exist. just choose Aventurine/ HuoHuo/ Lingsha depends on your team.

i was hoarding jades and i was thinking of going for fugue but looking at her current v3 I'm not sure, she looks good but not much better than HMC for break and for my Acheron team she doesn't really work since her skill debuff wont give Acheron another stack on her skill with her LC.

@lolakola2917 with acherons LC, her skill will grant her 2 stacks of her ult charge as it applies a special debuff, and I could be wrong, but when I saw someone try it last it may grant the debuff but it will not grant her an additional stack for her ult charge. If you don't have her LC, it may work.

@lolakola2917 Yes, you can use it on others that don't usually have dots or debuffs that will work. But at that point, your prob better using jiaoqiu since fugue mostly works around break efficiency. And jiaoqiu can give alot more stacks over time.

I recommend Ruan Mei and Acheron. I think Ruan Mei is amazing for a lot of teams with her abilities benefiting both veterans and new players. Acheron is definitely my number 1 dps for new players. She is easily usable with the 4star characters you start the game. She'll only get stronger as you collect more characters to go on her team.

She is like a pill cure all for all contents, just her base form is already a beast, further investment will just boost your return, on a much larger scale compare to other characters, she is on her own tier for a reason. I think that all new sustain are must pull, after them all harmony/debuff nihility(like res pen or def down, or just increased damage taken), and lastly dps characters. But if you don't have at least 2 dps that can clear content, probably you should prioritize them over harmony/nihility

Firefly + Ruan mei, 2 cost team with free harmony trailblazer + gallagher. these team are cheapest cost yet most powerfull team in the game right now play since day 1 with 850 achivement. these 4 character you basicly get 2 team comp that can clear endgame content like MoC 12 in 0-3 cycle with ease with herta shop free lightcone. and robin and ruan mei is very future proof and can fit into any other team specially ruanmei

I cant even imagine my life without adventurine. I havent had to form a single thought ever since I built him. And hes not even max level and carries a march lightcone lol. But my biggest recommendation is to just pull for who you like. Meta doesn’t matter and you can clear every content in the game with free characters. There are enough videos online to prove that :) do i need jiaoqui? No. Will i get him? Yes. Do i need ruan mei? Yes. Will i get her? No, i cant stand her character. Enjoy the game and play however you like!

Aventurine is 100% worth it. He can keep your team going for forever. I’m using a 4* cone on him and he still conquers. DPS, Acheron is good, Boothill is a lot of fun, Faxaio is the most fun character I’ve ever played with, but you need Aventurine and another follow-up character for the real fun.

Sparkle is strong enough to take the place of one of the two Nihility slots IF you also get Acheron’s Light Cone. If you can’t get both Acheron and her Light Cone you need a good way to get debuffs including two other nihilty characters. Also preferably a preservation character that can equip the Trend of the Universal Market light cone. You only need light cone OR all those things. If you get her Light Cone you’ll be fine. Otherwise I would skip unless you’re very prepared

I'm currently using Acheron, Black Swan, Pela and Fu Xuan(u can use any sustain here) and can clear MOC easily. In my opinion u should definitely pull for Acheron.
