So glad you found Esslingen ! That and Nuremberg are my favorites. Rothenburg is also a fun night time Christmas market with the torch walk.

I agree that Tübingen is one of the best German medieval towns as I had nice experience there although this town is usually not on any lists or popular travel guides. Therefore I am glad that you covered it in this video. As for Christmas markets, I visited many of them in different corners of Europe but I must say that Germany has surely the most beautiful and the most traditional Christmas markets in the world (OK, there are also some nice Christmas markets in Alsace, France - Colmar, Riquewihr, Eguisheim, Strasbourg; however, Alsace also has German roots as it was a part of the German world for many years). For me, it was real pleasure to visit the Nuremberg Christmas Market (Christkindlesmarkt) last year because it is so well organized there and there is so nice traditional stuff for sale, like wooden pyramids, cribs and other ornaments which originate from the German Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge) nearby. In towns of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Bamberg and Riquewihr I also visited Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas shops (which are, in fact, opened all year round) and was totally amazed. As a vegetarian, I also found some nice vegan and vegetarian food in Nuremberg and Bamberg Christmas markets. And my favourite drink became punch. ;)

Great video! Can I ask which town/city you used as a base for that trip? Was it Stuttgart?

Yes it was!

Hoping to visit my first German Christmas Market in December 2023 (and as a solo traveller). Should be in Berlin for a few days and disappointed that Tubingen is too far for a day trip😞 Will settle for Berlin itself, Potsdam and maybe Dresden or Leipzig

Hii, thank you so much for your suggestion!! It was very helpful. In your point of view, would it be easy to communicate only in English in the minor cities of Germany?
@Bemytravelmuse5 жыл бұрын
My German is pretty basic and I can get by! If one person doesn't understand you try asking someone else. Most young people speak English quite well.

The ChocolArt in Tübingen is not the christmas market! The christmas market is each year is a few days later from friday to the 3rd advent sunday (- so next weekend).

Probably the most delicious one!
