Thanks Ryky! I'm buying a Cerax 320 and Chosera 3000 thanks to you. You've helped me a lot the last couple years.

Thanks a heap. I have been looking for a 320-400 stone, other than the Norton Silicon Carbide stones I already have (too hard to flatten). You are probably the only one that does good reviews on stone comparison's I have found so far.

I use this grit level a ton as most knives sent my way have disturbing edges not necessarily chipped or dinged but just haven’t been sharpened or were machine sharpened to silly angles and I just switched from the shapton pro to the cerax and after 50 or so knives the cerax to me is a better stone at this grit it simply feels better it’s softer which I like it is more forgiving which I like and it’s just as quick ... only negative is it’s a somewhat muddy stone and I don’t love mud at all but it’s well worth a sprinkle of water to keep it clean ... the brick takes time to soak so beware but you’re essentially getting twice the stone for 1.5 times the cost

I've never sharpened a knife with a stone before. Based on some of your videos I got a cheap Whestone Cutlery 400/1000 to try out on the Rachel Ray branded knife I got on sale one time that's treated pretty roughly. Will see how that goes, and maybe I'll learn to take better care of my knife too.
@westcoastwarriorsarchive79296 жыл бұрын
If you cant seem to get it sharp and are following a proper technique and steps and such on how to sharpen its possible that the knife wont take an edge. There is a video that he did a while ago trying to sharpen a martha stuart's kitchen branded knife and it would not take an edge no matter what he tried.

I got my stone but haven't had a chance to use it. Did unbox it. It's rectangular and gritty. I'm not even sure which side is the 400 and which is the 1000 lol.

Thanks a lot for the videos. Some of the best I've seen. Two questions if you please; 1. can you list the names of the stones? This is the first I've heard of these stones and some of the company names (Toserah-sp?) are not listed, that I can find. 2. The hardest step in my sharpening is finding the correct angle when you're starting. I've seen, two of yours videos, that state two different ways of finding the angle. I am sharpening pocket knives and I'm constantly second guessing the angles and if they're correct. Best to ya and thanks again. Blessings brother.

I’d love to hear some feedback on the king deluxe 300 splash n go stone
@dris92743 жыл бұрын
the nani pro 400 is just amazing, she have everything. the feeling grainy is just not a problem, maybe you dont use a the good steel? cause for ma she cut! the feed back is excellent and de speed/result is excellent. the hand feel is excellent in my opinion, you feel that she is soft, or gummy, hard at the same time, and you know that she didn't dish, she is very hard i hope to see you review the norton india and crystolon that seems to be the best budjet stone in the low grits categories,

Ryky I'm in the culinary industry I was wondering if you can sharpen a basic professional culinary chef knife, a Victorinox Swiss Army Swiss Classic 8" Chef’s or Messermeister Four Seasons 8-Inch Chef’s Knife, something like that? I really do enjoy your videos and information.

Could I ask if you could review some 'Richardson Sheffield' knifes. An English company est 1839. It would be great to see if they can beat the German knifes.

As per your recommendation I am picking up a Cerax 320 grit to provide a little coarser stone to use along with my Shapton glass stone seven kit. My question you to is what is the proper way to prepare the Cerax 320 stone for use?

Hi Ryki, I wonder if you have tried the king 300 splash and go stone? I’m looking to replace my old king 250/1000 combo stone as my coarse stone. I have the shapton 1k and shapton 5k, so should I just get the shapton 320, or that cheaper king 300 splash n go?

Ryky there are many for the cerax 320 the 400, 401, 404 what are the differences?
@darshankumardave74855 жыл бұрын
404 and 401 are original Cerax, 400 D nis 50mm thick and 401 is 29mm thick otherwise same stone and ship with thin rubber ring base. 400 is new Cerax and is 23mm thick with proper stand/holder.

I want to start in sharpening, but most stone i find in Canada seems to start at 40-45$ CAD and up in physical store (800 suehiro). I was wondering if any of you tried stone from Aliexpress those are in the range of 12-20$ CAD depending of the grit. i want just to practice then eventually switch to "better stone". suggestions are welcome.

Hi, I'm new to sharpening, I can achieve a sharp knife when I am sharpening but I cannot get a knife to the point where it is razor sharp and is able to push cut paper. Have you got any tips for someone who is new to this?
@shmuelshvarts1966 жыл бұрын
Lewis make sure you get a burr after every grit,by better stone and get a strop with compound also if you have cheap knives due to its steel it may not get as sharp
@Dolmio246 жыл бұрын
Ok I'll try that, I normally switch to alternating strokes on the higher grit stones. I have been practicing on very cheap knives, I have a Damascus steel bush craft knife I am going to do when I have a little more experience, I might be able to get a better edge on that. Thanks!

what is best resurfacing "stone"? I think you used a metal one if I recall. I used the sidewalk on one of my stones and it worked well but looking for something a bit less coarse for finer stones.
@Burrfection6 жыл бұрын
hahah.... sidewalk works. i use the atoma 140 kit.com/Burrfection/top-picks

Can you make a vid where you take your brick (with the pits in it) and smooth it down on sidewalk? :P And see them disappear.. would be interesting anyways :P

Can you use the the cerax 320 to flatten a chosera 800 stone??
@Burrfection3 жыл бұрын
i wouldn't do it. the naniwa 800 is harder than the cerax 320. atoma 140 is what i use bur.re/atoma or use a smooth sidewalk if you must
@sarkysark3 жыл бұрын
@@Burrfection would the 400 work? 140 is not available on your site? I’m actually looking for 300-400 grit that can flatten my 800. But if I can go from a 140 plate to a 800 chosera with no issues, I’ll do that as well. I just need something coarser than my 800. Thanks for responding!
