I think the problem is the difference in cultures - it's like when Westerners use Chinese or Japanese script based on what *they* think looks cool or right ... which then will probably look weird and off to a Chinese or Japanese person. I watched a San Martin video the other day, showing their offices and production facilities. They had bi-lingual signs over every door in their offices and the fonts/lettering of the English labels on those signs looked like they were designed in the same way. Meaning by someone who isn't really familiar with how the Latin alphabet works.

Scored one yesterday at a pawn shop for 100 bucks. Keeping perfect time so far. I ran the chronograph for 11+ hours straight. It all works perfectly.

Definitely couldn't have one with chronometer written on it. It makes it seem closer to a fake than a homage. I emailed them about this saying that they should change it to chronograph, they said that they'd think about it...

I made a watch using a 7750 clone movement and it runs +1 sec a day, the movement in this daytona homage is a7753 clone as the chronograph registers are wrongly placed for the 7750 which has either a date or day/date at 3 o'clock nice looking watch for not alot of money 👍

They just released a blue dial, similar to the platinum Daytona!! It’s updated! Thinner, and they brought back the ‘sugess’ spelled around the rehaut. The new dia is gorgeous and they offer in steel or ceramic bezel..

I don't have that Daytona homage, but I do have 5 other Sugess watches and I've become quite a fan of them. You're not the only reviewer to dislike that font on the dial, but I actually do like it... It reminds me of the Tiki / Bamboo fonts from the swinging 1960s and gives a vintage feel.

I been on the fence about trying one of these and your video pretty much made up my mind to do it. I’ve always wanted a I have several Swiss 7750 chronographs and have always wanted a Daytona, but since forking out the money for a red letter sea dweller I just can’t see spending Daytona money and this watch will do just fine. Hopefully I’m lucky enough to get one as accurate as yours is.

Thanks for the review George. I have the white version. The quality is, as you say, fantastic. I need to get mine regulated as it is running 20 secs slow per day. The only issue I have with it is I have to set the time 1 minute fast when starting to wear it as it appears to need those 60 secs to get the minute hand moving. However I love it. It feels so high quality and looks great.

Yes ... but ... if you look closer, forums and others, ... the Shanghai/Liaoning Peacock "7750" movement is no longer working, really to avoid ! 🤷

Apparently, the current version is quite a bit thinner (12.5mm). They also ditched the "Top Chrono"-thing and replaced it with "Chronograph". Sadly, the cheesy looking font is still unchanged and there still isn't a logo at the 12 and the dial still lacks that splash of color near the 6oc that the original has. It still looks like a very well put together watch. 12.5mm thickness on a Chinese homage auto-chrono almost sounds too good to be true - especially when you consider the price.

The 7750 has a completely different subdial layout. Neither the 7750 nor the 7753 have small seconds at 6'. 3 and 9 subdials are a tad above the watch centerline, and it has a full balance bridge. It is not a 7750 clone, it is a 4131 clone, the one used in daytona replicas

I bought the white dial one. The movement is gorgeous but... the beat adjuster is rickety, It's no ETA/Valjoux. And it's a deleted date 7753.

Good review, and an amazing watch that is worth the money. Would I buy one? Yes, would I wear it over my Pagani Design VK63 homage? Yes. Is it worth upgrading from the Pagani? Not sure, but a good theme for a video series George!

You left out one of the most important facts here. As far as i can tell, this is the only Ali Express chrono with a real, functional 12 hour register. Similar looking watches have a useless dial at the 6 position which just mirrors the hour hand.

Based on quality alone at the moment I would say they are very equal , not sure if Sugess does a BB Chrono homage if it will be as good as the San Martin. At the moment it would have to be the San Martin , mainly because there are no other homages for the BB Chrono that I am aware of in this spec. Thanks again

I just got the white version. It was running -2 sec/day. Great accuracy I know, but I had to tweak it for a +1-2 per day. Finish is amazing, best on Ali I love it too. I'll get the black one soon. Now what to do with the quartz Pagani's.

@@climbmaintain mine is running normally. All dials function and it keeps COSC time. Think what you like. No chance to get an actual Daytona so why not enjoy the look and feel for less than 400.

@@WatcheswithGeorge Awesome thanks for the update. Ordered one a few days ago and just looking through reviews on longevity. I think the same movement is used in some of the replicas (and honestly expect 95% of the parts of this are the same, minus the crown, dial, and clasp), and there have been varied reports on reliability as apparently the subdial placement requires extra gearing they slap on. I hope this one will prove accurate! I will also be diving/swimming with mine. I fish quite a bit, and spend most waking moments at the beach or on a boat. I built a pressure tester good for 100psi with a bike pump & water filter. You'd be shocked on what these watches are capable of. I always pull the movement/dial & crown before testing, but I've had cheap divers of all sorts pass with flying colors. Hell, every Alpha chronograph I've bought (currently have 4) has passed without issue. I'll give this one a test, but suspect it'll be good for the water sports/recreational diving I do.

Hey there! Haven't had any issues with it so far .. but worst case scenario, you can get another movement, I think it's around 70 or 80 euros. It works fine for me still!

Hey there, thanks for the comment and support. I done have a Steinhart, the bracelets are both very good . The indecies on this are applied , the Steinhart's are also applied but they look a lot cheaper I would say. The Steinhart really feels premium for the prices, so does this but for this you pay for the Valjoux clone. Also the tolerances on as good on both!
