Very similar to this. Oil squirters are really the only assembly difference in the short block.

Bad ass vid only thing I can say is I put the piston Jets in after I install piston assembly but their way I just do it that way cause I don’t wanna run the chance of bending one. Bad ass vid tho very detailed !
@horsetorquesdiesel Жыл бұрын
Used to be like that too, but I like doing it before so I can make sure the squirters aimed right as it rotates while I install pistons. Saves time but I hear ya!

Is the crank thrust measurement the same for all common rails? I'm doing a reseal on my bottom end at 230K before adding power and wanted to make sure my thrust was ok or if I needed to bearing roll.

love the videos. i just got a 98 12v. would love to see a video on what you would do for a complete rebuild engine trans axles everything to make a daily big single street truck. was looking for just under 4 digit hp range
@horsetorquesdiesel3 жыл бұрын
Usually the axles are fine maybe check the LSD clutches really until you are pushing 1200hp plus or sled pulling factory stuff works fine. Get new u joints though!

Josh, anything special to welding the crank to the gear or just clean it up and weld in bout 3 places? You tig it or mig it?
@jasontruman12153 жыл бұрын
Always tig, mig will put weld splatter on the seal surface.

Do you know what Cummins 24v valve spring install height is? Having problems with Hamilton 188/220 with coil bind. I have manton spring kit. It is coil binding. My install height is 1.304. No shims or valve seal. The hat on the seal is .020

Dam homie I thought I was gonna talk to you yesterday when I ordered I'm gonna be doing an engine build to I wanted to ask if you think I'm gonna have clearance with that bugit builder cam that 182-208 cam from piston to valve since you can fly cut high output QSB pistons

So is their any benefit in a street engine to having the cam bore bored for bearings for all cam journals?
@jasontruman12153 жыл бұрын
Yes if you have a steel (not cast) cam or very stiff valve springs.
@horsetorquesdiesel3 жыл бұрын
As Jason said it allows for a stronger cam material. Usually a CR engine will get away at a higher power level with a cast cam because the CP3s don’t take as much HP to turn compared to a p-pump. We also opened up a couple oil gallies to help keep it alive
@chukkaskate3 жыл бұрын

@bcbloc023 жыл бұрын
As long as you are running a chilled iron cam there isn't really a need for the bushings. Steel cam and it is pretty much a must or if they planned to run it 100K miles with 150lbs+ of seat pressure it would be a good idea.
@horsetorquesdiesel3 жыл бұрын
@@bcbloc02 these springs are 165lbs of seat pressure. We have ram steel cams in regular bores just need a lot of zinc
