This video covers division templates that will make your game much more enjoyable and easier to play for the Millennium dawn modern day hoi4 mod. The 1.9 update is the latest and largest update to date for md and has dramatically changes military yet again. This guide covers some general hoi4 tips, advise, but at its core gives you armored, infantry, and even heli divisions you can use exactly or as an inspiration for designing your own. @@ClimateChange-ln7sd if you can’t produce enough fighters, make lots of strike drones and anti-air (or fighter drones for cheap). If you can’t produce cas, fighters and strategic bombers at the same time, make multiroles half of which will bomb. If you are China, USA or minmaxed Russia, then the meta is to make lots of heavy artillery, strike drones, dedicated stealth fighters with 100+ air attack and 100+ radar advantage and as many strategic bombers as you can (the template should include as many bomb bays as possible + self-healing materials and stealth shaping + stealth coating so they don’t get shot down out of the sky). Bonus idea: if you’re a small nation, develop good relations with China or USA so you can buy things off their arms market (primarily drones or strategic bombers) - that’s how I got 20 B-2 spirits as Russia.

My template 30w: 3 infantry fighting vehicle battalions, 2 cannon artillery divisions, 1 self-propelled artillery division, 1 tank battalion + engineer company, infantry fighting vehicle reconnaissance company, self-propelled anti-aircraft company.

I personally make helicopter templates with only 3 helicopters, you will be surprised how useful they are as you can get them in insane numbers. It may sound dumb but you should try it out :) even smaller countries can get them and nothing beats helicopters in surrounding your enemy

What do you think about light tanks instead of APC or IFV recon? I usually do produce them as a larger nation and end up with a pretty large supply of light tanks with just one or two mils on the production line, since it just takes so long for the MD to get going and for you to fix your country before going to war usually. I use them in most of my divisions as Russia for example.

Nowadays I don't produce any APCs tbh, I also recently lowered reliance on SPArty, since it lowers speed, arty doesn't. Usually IFVs with a few tanks or just IFVs.

Kinda late but generally they do well, provided they are well designed. You can mix them with light infantry for difficult terrain, they do good

Well, the thing is that gunships are only useful with specop divisions, whether regular SF or air cavalry. Still, such units are not as strong as tanks, since tanks could always get an armor and piercing advantage over those. With air support (not even missile!), tanks rule in all terrains.

How about a tutorial on the tank and plane designer. For the life of me, I can't figure out what research goes where on certain things. For instance, I have modern self propelled AA weapons researched, but I can only add "post WW2 long range missiles." Sounds simple, so I researched SAM technology under the missile tab, up to modern SAMs, but still only get 1950s era gear. What gives?

Heavy attack chopper template if you are a solid economy. If not focus on ATGM tech and use motorized version.
