I made this... And is it a way more time and love to bring to the onions then into the video... One hour is the minimum... The sweetness and taste of the onions is the best you ever had in your pot... I love you jamie.. For this soup

Made this last night, had leftovers this evening. Family loved it, very satisfying! If you read the article that goes with the video, you'll see the advice, "Having the patience to cook the onions slowly, slowly, gives you an incredible sweetness and an awesome flavour, so don’t be tempted to speed this bit up." Yup, what he said! I made it with chicken stock, and added a couple of slugs of white wine near the end of the cooking; otherwise, was faithful to the recipe.
@justgame55087 жыл бұрын
Mike Bauer Adding the white wine is arguably more faithful to the original recipe as that's how the French make their onion soup, with white wine it it.
@netweed096 жыл бұрын
Wine in soup?? I have a recepies like that several times before - I find it disgusting personally, has this terrible, bitter-pungent rotten-veg like taste running through the whole soup (had it mushroom soup too) horrible, no thanks!! If anything; adding more butter or even some soy sauce mixed with brown sugar is the way to go
@annother33505 жыл бұрын
Netweed - you have to be sure to simmer down the wine before you add the stock

That looks to be so freaking good. I would be so happy for that to be on my table. I just never seem to have the luck in caramelizing the onions. They tend to burn a bit. It may be that I need to mix the Olive oil and butter to get it right. And do a bit more onions in the pan and mix them every 10 minutes.

John Stots it's the same recipe as French onion soup is what he means...apart from one additional veggie it's actually all the same!😂
