Yeah the way belos story is delivered is very intentional.(Danny spoilers) He's a master manipulator and so the crew presented him to us in a distorted way. We don't really get a good glimpse of belos until "hollow out" and oh lord, it slaps. all the pieces finally fir and you find out you were tricked into thinking this son of a bitch was some kind of mysterious-tormented guy with complex ulterior motives when he's just your racist uncle. I've always thought one of the major themes of the owl house is "delusion".

I love this episode because it proves that, somehow, HOOTY is one of the most emotionally mature characters in the whole show. 1. Hooty attempts to help King learn about his heritage, but when it doesn't work out, he reminds King that he still has a loving and supportive community at home. 2. Hooty understands that Eda is obsessively running from her own problems (to the point of harming herself) and gives her a safe space to work through her issues. 3. Hooty sees that Luz is over-complicating things and stressing herself out, so he gives her an easy and straightforward way to ask Amity out (plus, considering Amity's own habits of talking to herself, it's very possible he already knew it was mutual from the previous times she's visited the house) . 4. Then at the end (despite being RIGHT) he accepts his methods were a little too hands-on and decides to take a step back and let the others go at their own paces. This world doesn't deserve Hooty.

This is probably one of the best legendary episodes of the entire show. For A little bit of history, when season 2 was announced the episode titles got leaked, and when everyone saw this episode, they thought there was just gonna be a generic filler ep, but then Dana hit us with the “No” and made this the most PLOT RELAVENT EP EVER!! King discovering his powers, us getting a glimpse of his past, eda getting a glimpse of edas past, a new form, and LUZ AND AMITY BECOMING A COUPLE! i think something danny is confused about is that the show didnt FULLY get canceled. yes disney didnt give dana the time she wanted to finish her story, but it didnt just get dropped in the middle. they gave her just enough time to give the show SOME sort of ending
