Fun facts for these episodes! 1) The purple and white striped shirt that Vee picked out from the closet and the red bat she picked up to threaten Luz with are references to Luz's pilot design! She usually wore that shirt and had that bat with her in some crew art. 2) Masha (the kid that read Vee's tarot cards) is nonbinary and uses they/them! Their voice actor is also the same voice actor as Azula's from ATLA. Also about the Vee twist, I really liked it! In any other show, Vee would've been evil for evil's sake, but having her be a literal refugee due to Belos is really cool. I also think Vee is so cute and I hope you come around to her. She didn't get a lot of screen time due to the cancellation, but she's really cool!!

To be fair to the whole Luz/Camilla dynamic, it's less about lying and more about choice. Luz choose to stay in the demon realm. Between a mother who raised her and an island of demons, Luz chose the bear. What else can Camilla read into that other than her daughter doesn't like living with her after she sent her to camp to change her personality. And to not even make the choice to come home but to trap herself in the Boiling Isles. This isn't like an isekai where the protag is trapped after travelling worlds, this is the protag traversing at will and choosing the more dangerous option as a long term solution.

I understand Danny's point with Luz and her mom, and I have no idea what his relationship what his family is, but as someone who's really close with my mom I could totally imagine feeling as stressed as Luz at her age. I take my mom's acceptance very seriously, even as an adult, and as a child I was even more concerned about it. I'd probably have a panic attack every day for a week after that conversation Luz had. As for the reveal, I kind of swing both ways. I think a more ominous turn could have been cool, but it would also take away from the threat we already had in front of us. I think the comparison between Luz and Vee is an interesting one. Luz didn't intend to leave home, but she actively decided to stay in the demon realm without considering the risk of something happening. She has a mom who loves her but feels restricted in how she's allowed to express herself. Meanwhile, Vee was actively kept a prisoner. She had to run in order to stay safe, and the only place she could be safe is still a risk as she still needs to feed. Would it have been cool if she was a more malicious party? Maybe. That would depend on the writers. But I appreciate that they took a route that was more of a foil to Luz's position.

Vee's reveal couldn't be a disappointment for me because I already put pieces together and concluded she couldn't be evil. What was a let down though was the TOH team screwing up the flashback on her going to the human realm at a time when Eda had already closed the portal. That messed up all my theories, because I excluded the possibility of her using the portal at that moment.

Vee was both exactly what I was expecting but also a surprise. After Enchanting Grom Fight, I came up with the theory that a shapeshifter was escaping the authorities of the Boiling Isles and slipped through the portal in the first episode, taking Luz's form and her place at camp. What I didn't expect was her to be a victim in all this and just a sweet little girl trying to survive without hurting anybody.
