I like the $25 CRKT LCK just fine. I have both versions, and tend to take them to the office more than any others. The black Warncliff design is great on boxes, but the bright finish blade is more pointy and more useful overall. Blade shape is about like the Crossbones and the 8CR-13 steel is pathetically easy to sharpen on a strop.

Good call out. Great, inexpensive and just the right size. I like the Crossbones and Metamorph better but for the value, the LCK is pretty awesome!

Thank you, Edward, for your advice and quick response. While I could be seduced by another favorable WE experience into *also* acquiring this longer bladed model (I have a Massdrop-Ferrum Forge-WE Gent with the rosewood scales), I am really well covered with well liked knives in the 3.5"- 4.0" blade length range. My interest in a smaller version of this design centers more around the matter of blade control / precision pattern cutting + gripping options. I'm feeling a bit frustrated at the moment with getting *one* LionSteel T.R.E. G10 fully sorted out (I've had *3* through here and still don't have one that's simply all *right* -- different samples, different issues... rather poor warranty options). Ditto my new Native 5 Salt -- for some reason there's a gritty interaction between the blade assembly's contact surface and the back lock spine's inside surface *only* -- Mine was more or less cherry picked by a trusted dealer and pivot action, lack of play, and consistent re-centering, etc., are dead perfect: very weird; I don't know what Spyderco got wrong, but I definitely suspect a design or production run problem rather than my having a bad sample. This just won't go away; yet my S35VN Native 5 is exactly what you'd expect. Yep, weird.). Anyway, I'm looking around in case I have to bail on these for my own piece of mind, depending on where the resolution of issues ends up. But, yes, my initial impression of the 618 has me thinking that this might be my personal favorite WE design for aesthetics + useful suburban EDC blade profile + give-it-no-thought tote-ability.

these We knives seem way over priced. they are almost as much as a base CRK Sebenza. If I buy a knife made in China I feel like it should be 25% cheaper than a knife made in N.A. or EU.

@Jimmy Jim no I have had no issues with stripping. I have only done it the one time and I've had it for years. Recently I took all the frame screws out and added blue loctite as they were getting loose. They all went back in just fine. I didn't tighten then down really tight though as that tends to squeeze the blade and it doesn't want to open then.

I know this is probably an unpopular choice, but I quite enjoy my early run Kershaw 1430 Wild Wild Turkey (the titanium handled wild turkey). If I remember correctly, they were all manufactured in Japan. I normally don't like liner locks (much prefer either a traditional lock back or an Axis lock) but this has excellent lockup. Super smooth action with a comfortable thumb stud. Never had any complaints about my ATS-34/154CM blades. Honestly, it's a knife I would have never purchased but was thrilled to get as a gift. I rarely ever carry it, but if I'm going to be in a situation where a larger hard-use folder would be odd it's my go-to option. One thing I noticed was the wide variety of knives carried by some of the lawyers I had the pleasure to work with (before I left the profession). I've see things ranging from their old scout knife to automatics to pocket monsters like the Cold Steel Code 4.

If I put on my black suit and power tie, does it make my $20 folding knife an "executive" knife? The long slender blades of some of these offerings appear to be designed primarily for stabbing. I have observed that people find a nice "fat" drop point blade a little less threatening when wielding it in mixed company, but I suppose if one is an "executive", intimidation is part of the game. Pry a couple of staples at the Friday office meeting conference table with one of these bad boys and everyone gets in line, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean?

I have a few of my grandfather's sleek, smooth, pocket knives. They're well made with brass liners and organic scales; good steel that I can hone sharp enough to shave with. Beyond the seemingly manic compulsion to 'flick' your knife, and, perhaps fantasize about your macho efficacy to defend yourself and family, what's the point of all this extra heft, all this extra metal? Is it the equivalent of a spinner toy? Is it just another novelty for our otherwise banal free-time? I ask this seriously.

Pedro Cano carrying a knife is old school. A knife is the right of passage for a. 10 year old boy. If your a boy scout in the 60’s thru 70’s. I still carry a knife even with a suit. But the knife would be an old timer or something small and slim. You need a pocket knife for all this hard plastic to open on things you buy. If you don’t and try to open it and rip it. You will usually cut your self on the jagged plastic.

It is amazing for far Knives have evolved now. Once a Buck 110 Hunter was the go - to standard issue and widespread amongst all outdoorsmen. Today ; thousands of versions of folding blades are running from mere budget to very high end unique customs jobs that gleam like works of modern art all in polished metal. Inlays and flashy intricate handle details can be simply mind --- boggling. Now ; even newer pattens - like the slick executive style - have popped up adding a new dimension to it all ; it seems. Online sales boom as neo knife enthusiasts eagerly discuss, collect and compare steel grades and debate on Forums the various " pros and cons" of a new knife in and just to hand. To me it is simply all good ! More choice means you get a better knife to serve your individual purpose ; and it costs less. What it not to love ??
