The BMW/Williams is arguably the best V10 car of that era. They just had the wrong Schumacher driving, and JPM too manic but still awesome lol.
@hobbyracer28146 ай бұрын
I wouldn't fully agree with that. The Ferraris were the overall better cars. Not really in quali, but definitely in race conditions. The BMW-Williams was often very fast in quali, but couldn't match the race pace of Ferrari. Especially the 2001, 2002 and 2004 Ferrari were basically unbeatable Also I wouldn't agree on blaming the drivers for that. Quite often, when williams had a chance of winning, they broke down. Ralf Schumacher was often stated as being as fast as Michael, but chouldn't show it, as he never got the chance to drive a championship winning car. For JPM I agree, even as a fan of him

makes you wonder what the w11 would be able to do without fuel restrictions. Even just a little bit more fuel flow and it would add another 100-200hp easily
@ricardopralon47637 ай бұрын
Choosing the MP4/4 as Turbo 1.5 rules sample isn't a good choice, by the 88 rules the Turbos were limited to 2.5 BAR and 150 kg of fuel, that means that the 3.5 l Honda V10 that Mclaren used in next year ( 1989) start about 40 hp stronger just out of the box having 690 hp, when the 1.5 V6 had 650 hp in the racing trim. To be honest with real turbo Cars potentials it's far better use 1987 Willams-Honda, that was limited at 4 BAR or the 86 model that was no boost limit. The 88 F1 average times in the majority of circuits are 4s slower than 87.
@f1virtualfilms7 ай бұрын
I agree with everything you said, but the idea of the video is to have the best cars with each engine, and the MP4-4 was better and much more dominant than any other car with a V6 Turbo engine.
@ricardopralon47637 ай бұрын
@@f1virtualfilms Ok, but in fact it was dominant against only 2 other team that used V6 turbos that year, Ferrari and Lotus-Honda. The rest of grid used V8 aspirated engine and Arrows Megatron BMW 4 inline turbo.

Unfortunate to not see some "experimental" designs, such as the H16 engines. Also the I4 BMW engines in the Benetton and Brabham of the early-mid 80s are missing. Maybe the flat 12 Ferraris of the 70s too and some more 50s and 60s cars, but then it would clutter up super quick, so I understand why you may not have picked more cars.
