I bet this is intentional from the manufactures, as the clutch pedal springs your foot up the faster the clutch engages causing less slippage and maybe less warranty claims from people prematurely burning their clutch....
@ashermergard57952 жыл бұрын
I like the snappy springiness for everyday driving..It's done because it makes it easier to dis engage the clutch fully for changing gears I reckon. But it's so good in traffic not having the pedal fighting against your leg. Can totally understand why you'd remove it...

I have a 2019 370Z 6M with the sport package and the clutch action is different than it was on older Zs. Starting in 2018, Nissan is sourcing its clutches from Exedy and from what I'm told it greatly improved the clutch. I've had a Nissan mechanic who told me that the clutch action on these newer Zs is really nice.

You should also investigate your car's "Clutch Delay Valve" ... that will cause a bad clutch feel as well. They do it to make engagement smoother. Unfortunately it makes the clutch engagement SLOWER and less predictable, which in performance driving can actually increase wear on the clutch. As I understand it the Z cars have this. It's typically pretty easy to remove.

Without the spring it doesn't fully depress the clutch pedal as you drive. So when you drive, it will be slightly pressing down on the clutch as if you're resting your foot on the pedal
@milanmastracci6 жыл бұрын
Who drives a manual car with their foot resting on the clutch pedal? There are countless vehicles made without clutch springs and work perfectly fine. No?
@johnnyd7016 жыл бұрын
milanmastracci those countless vehicles are made differently and have a different mechanical design that help the clutch pedal fully depress. Some people have bad habits of not putting their foot on the dead pedal after releasing the clutch. So this slight pressure on the clutch while driving will throw it your csc prematurely which is a common thing for our cars 370z
@ToufB6 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Dinh no offence bro but u realize you comment is stupid right? No serious manual driver drives with there foot on the clutch Ur asking to get fcked every time u hit a pot hole with that set up not to mention if someone is knowingly reducing the pressure by pulling the spring out they would know that it wouldn't take much to press the clutch therefore not rest there foot there.

You could probably get an aftermarket clutch spring to have the same feel. It still is debated wether or not removing the clutch spring will increase wear on the throw out bearing.

Why would it? You aren't changing how much pressure is on the throw out bearing, only how much effort it takes to push the clutch pedal itself

If you remove that spring you HAVE to replace it with a spring of some sort.
@milanmastracci6 жыл бұрын
Why do you HAVE to? There isn't any pressure on the clutch without the spring. The spring only serves as a way to give your foot 'less resistance'.
@Diddy_Doodat6 жыл бұрын
milanmastracci the spring helps keep the clutch from reengaging. When you remove the spring the clutch can be accidentally engaged if the pedal isn't pushed all the way out. Your foot doesn't push the clutch pedal all the way out when you let it off. Over time the vibrations of the car can cause the pedal to be too loose. Your clutch may be fine now without it but overtime youre actually damaging the clutch. Thus the need for the replacement spring. Spring replacement or new pedal is the best option like you said but you shouldn't drive without a spring at all once you remove it. A softer spring replacement does help though.
@Diddy_Doodat6 жыл бұрын
milanmastracci no reply? Wassup with that
@nightpz6 жыл бұрын
@@Diddy_Doodat I think this spring is there just to prevent wear on the clutch in case you habitually rest your foot on the pedal. A lot of people do that, not knowing that its harmful for the clutch, so manufacturers have to Idiot-proof it.
@Diddy_Doodat6 жыл бұрын
@@nightpz well what you think is wrong. Besides, he took my advice and replaced it. Go look at his other videos. I don't even watch his channel anymore. Way to respond to old comments.
@muasboy2 жыл бұрын
First of all. Love the channel..Just want to share my thoughts. The OEM helper-spring is one of the best designs ever. It's not necessary an issue. It's a new/different feeling that unfortunately a lot of new G/Z owners remove once they buy the car. The helper-spring actually helps the pedal feel a bit lighter, which helps in stop-and-go traffic. Helps for a smoother engagement. I've driven many OEM G's and Z's. The pedal is linear yes, but not 100% linear. There is a noticeable catch-point. you have to train your leg to feel for it (probably a day of driving it). Instead of removing the spring, and reverting to what you're used to. I suggest driving with the spring more often, you will soon feel the catch point. You'll appreciate the engineering. The issue is not the design. The issue is the user.

milanmastracci You should also research a clutch master cylinder brace. I don't remember if it's the 350z or 370z (or if it matters) but the clutch master cylinder flexes the firewall quite a bit which also spoils the clutch feel and makes it spongey. A brace keeps the master from bulging the firewall outward toward the front of the car.
