Went to see Bodies Bodies Bodies in the theater. I had been in the mood for a late night movie, so I think I caught a 10pm showing. I remember the slight sleep deprivation I felt by the end seemed to match the desperate, tired feeling by the end of the movie. And then we went to taco bell, which also seemed appropriate at the time. I haven’t heard nearly enough opinions on it, so I’m glad you made this. I think your reflections have some really great insight on this movie’s place in the cultural zeitgeist.

Thank you! Really happy you enjoyed the video and the film! I also haven’t seen very many videos or commentary on this one so I’m happy to weigh in.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE. Yeah it's a satire of the worst that my generation has to offer, but the characters are always fully developed and the subtle interplay between them is so well done. (Spoilers -- I spent far too much of the movie rooting for Jordan and realised wayyyyy too late what a terrible person she was.) Usually when people try to "critique" Gen Z in media it's really lazy and doesn't really bother examining WHY we have the hangups that we have. In fact I kind of wished it had gone even harder into the subtle social politics within the group. (I'll always argue that you're supposed to be at least a little sus of Greg right up until SPOILERS he dies.)

Glad to see you've circled back around to (brilliant) horror analysis, Ellie. Love this movie and love your take on it's cultural significance/commentary.

That means the world! Thank you and I’m definitely working on more horror and general film analysis like this going forward!

@@makingmediamatter i noticed you changed the title and thumbnail 😢i think the first one was more attention drawing but maybe that’s bc i know what movie you’re talking about

Really happy to hear you liked the first thumbnail, I may still change it back, but I just wanted to give this second thumbnail some time to market the video and see what response it gets@@Dina8485

Very nice video. I guess it was a matter of time before the characters that used to be the "cannon fodder" for serial killers would themselves become the killers and their own worst enemies. Over time the horror genre changes in some distinct ways, being molded and changing shape like a ball of clay, and this is just another example of it. I'll have to check this movie out.

So happy my analysis inspired you to check this one out, I definitely agree that this was just a matter of time and I love how Bodies represents such a change in the slasher formula, even decades on from its creation. Love this movie.
