Had a bad fall off my Free Ranger 10 days ago, scrapes that Geraint would be proud of, luckily nowt broken. Think my right hand lost contact with hoods on a churned up bit of forest road so I went oth🤕 Top to toe check before moving and managed to get up ok and check bike….not a scratch on frame just scrapes on right brake lever and rear derailleur and a bent rear derailleur. Managed a clunky geared 12 mile ride home! I’ve bought an extra set of wheels and cassette from Planet X and Rotors from Bikeinn and going to run smoother Victoria Terreno Dry G+ 700x33 tyres for road rides. Will sell my Trek Madone and par down the bike stable!! Think I have the set up sorted now, changed from 42t to 38t chainring, Schwalbe G1 Bite 700x45, 60mm stem, Sonder Bomber flared bars and full Mudhugger Gravel mudguards👍🏽 Hopefully scabs will have healed enough to get out at the weekend, maybe test the road capability 👍🏽 I did a wee FR bike review back end of last year so may do a new one for road ride😁

Bought mine end of Feb 21 so just coming up to a year. 2500 trouble free miles so far. Love it although the paint is a bit thin and has been rubbed away by one of my bags -so just use my ruck sack now.

Had mine since before Christmas I really love it change the tyres to Schwalbe CX Comp's and the seat to cheap Dunlop one which I find comfortable great for riding on the wet roads with debris and muck on them. it has now replaced my Giant Revel and my Planet X London love the video's keep it up.

Hi Simon, every adventure is an epic (at least in my pea like brain😂) and you’ve certainly made best use of the Free Ranger, another good Vlog btw if a little breezy. I’m really enjoying my FR, for the price and equipment it comes with it’s such a good package. Still running tubes as there’s lots of life left in the tyres and I might check out your frame bag review…….🤔.

I went for the Mystique. Swopped over the wheels for Mason Hunt Gravel with Schwalbe G-Ones and for my riding on soft trails, fantastic. Made a big difference the wheels. However, sold it as the standover was, dangerous otherwise, superb in my humble opinion and it never let me down. Shimano on all my other bikes although I didn’t mind Force and 1X it worked faultlessly.

Yep, love mine too! Although a couple of issues, I really don't rate the brakes (Force), and the toe overlap really gets on my tits, on slow technical climbs when I've got a wobble on! I've just put some Lifeline wide mudguards on, completely transformed my ride! I hate the bloody things, but they are so stable and effective. So nice to get back 90% clean! Also changed the bars for some Prime gravel bars, feels so much better than the standard ones! Changed seat and post, too! Over-all a fantastic bike, ride it way more than any of my other bikes! ✌️

In sort of like the idea of mud flaps/guards but feel the rough Lakeland stuff might shake them off. Yes the toe overlap is an issue with big feet or shoes, I run my cleats close to my toes so its not too bad and also there is the practise thing, once you've had a scare your body can solve the problem...... practise track stands !! hi what size are you riding and what's your height? looking at getting one, but at 6ft the website says i should be going for xl...seems a bit big for me. Interested to see what you recommend?

I'm 5ft 11 weighing in at 12st 11 ish and from memory I went for a Large. On some climbs I get alittle close to the bars with my knees but love the bike as its so versatile and comfy to as its not as aggressive as a road bike or even a cyclo-cross specific bike. I will do a deeper dive video for my bike, my size and the options I chose when I ordered it as others have asked questions I maybe able to answer too. Stay tuned 👍
