I got the Sanlaki 3D-printed gun stock, and it's great. It definitely took quite some time to get used to, but once you do it's amazing. My accuracy got ten times better and it increases the immersion like crazy. Also, I've been travelling a lot with it, and it hasn't broken yet, so over-tightening it is really the only thing you have to look out for. Other than that, it's a great gun stock and I also highly recommend you try it if you're looking for a gunstock

I'm a ProTube early adopter and it's awesome seeing more people checking out VR gun stocks now as VR gets more mainstream. 4 years and multiple seasons in VRML with the ProTube and it still looks and works like the day I bought it, minus the strap which broke so I made my own. I can't imagine using a different stock at this point, I'm just too used to it, but it's awesome seeing the other options on the market.

The only gunstock he reviewed that was any good was the one at the end with the free left-hand where you don't have to stick the controller back into a slot or a magnet or some other ill-conceived mechanism. However, it's also $250 and not available unless you happen to catch a batch on Etsy.

Well, I'm surprised that the gun stock concepts haven't moved toward a spring/rope/pulley design yet. Basically, link the off-hand to an adjustable rope with just a tiny bit of pull strength as to guide the hand back toward the gun's resting point. With a proper mechanism, you could have a single button being pressed on the gun to readjust the resting points. (Press the button, ropes gets loose in the gun and you can place your hands/points where you want them then release the button and the ropes are now fixed kinda like muscles) Balancing weight with a rope system is rather simple and while magnet gets demagnetized over time, a rope-pulley design usually allow ropes to be replaced. Kinda like a compound adjustable crossbow.

Another thing I like about it is it's really not that heavy... 3D-printed parts with metal poles, like the others... I dunno, I dig it. I have the MOB v1, which is the longest of them all, I think!

If you want to be really cheap, and I mean really cheap, also if you play Pavlov. Just turn on virtual stock and brace your dominate hand against your off hand's forearm. It works pretty well for me.

I can vouch for the Sanlaki gun stock. I got the elite which has adjustable buttstock and rotating blocker, plus the shoulder strap so you can go gunstock-free. It takes some getting used to, but if you have good muscle memory it's actually quite easy to reload. The trick for magnets is to pull down and out for a swift release. Now I have to work on pistols and throwing grenades.

So I bypassed the whole gunstock issue and saved myself a bunch of money in the process, here's how: 1) replace the lanyard of the off-hand controller with a longer loop of paracord. I made my finished loop about 14", but this will vary depending on your arm length and what's comfortable to you.. I also added a short length of tubing to the middle of the loop for extra padding, you'll see why in the next steps. 2) when in game, hook that long loop with the pinky finger of your trigger hand, and pull tight, pushing your off hand away, as though you're aiming down a rifle sight. It's hard to explain, but obvious when you have it in your hands. 3) the tension increases accuracy 3-4x, and you don't have to release it to reload in most cases. Don't pull too hard (you'll learn the right tension over time), or you'll cause fatigue in your pinky finger. 4) If you need to interact with the game UI, or switch to a different weapon, just drop the loop. To pick it back up, swing the loop and catch it with your pinky. It sounds hard but once you get the hang of it, it's almost instant. The little extra weight of the tubing/padding helps as a locator for this as well. Reloads are super easy as well, since there's no extra resistance from magnets or anything. This simple mod has saved me a bunch of money, since I don't need a stock. Plus, I can play anywhere and not have to haul around extra gear. I also don't look like a terrorist to my neighbors. 😉 Feel free to ask any questions and I'll try to help. Happy gaming!

@@cheasepriest Do you mean my off (non-trigger) hand? It's floating, but the tension off the lanyard really makes it fairly stable. It's the whole point of the lanyard, really. Of course, it's not quite as good as an actual stock, but it's almost free, is ultra portable, and won't scare the neighbors. ;)

H&K used the same concept with the mp5k, the rear of the gun was attached to a sling and you shot it by holding the gun with two hands and pushing against the sling

Haha I use an old guitar stand that I cut the end off of. The piece that holds the guitar's neck can be bent and fits perfectly on my left (trigger) controller. Then I just hold the other controller to the end of the pipe, letting the pipe press my grip button as I'm holding the controller against the pipe :D It's only two points of contact, but it works for me. And reloading is quick too, because the controller makes contact with the pipe where you're holding the controller, not 15cm below.

I generally use a cardboard stock i made and a lanyard attached to it. It works really well but i had to make it bigger after some time. It works grate for most guns i use go straight to where i want. Perfectly placed where in want but p90 works ok on it and for pistols i just let it hang and use no stock for it. the cardboard doesnt add to much wight and is really light but you have to replace the cups sometimes as it can break after time i use toiletpaper rolls for the cups and remember to dissinfect the cardboard.

Idk if its because the psvr has really good tracking but after printing a bunch of shoulder stocks I have found that i prefer 2 points of contact over 3. 3 is kinda cumbersome and 2 is quick and agile / maneuverable.

I have some issues with the Sanlaki 3D Print. Apperantly the gunstock blocks the visual signal from the headset to the controllers while I aim and I get some major virtual gun drift. Does it also happends with you guys? Any possible fixes?

I'm blown away that manufacturers haven't made standalone rifle VR accessories like the old Wii shooter days. We have electrifying vests, finger trackers, omni-directional treadmills, etc. But nothing that allows for a rifle *and* controllers.

People have made them, they just never ended up working out (either limted run or low quality) since it's a niche product for a niche market, and the technology involved inherently means it's going to either need scale or be expensive as hell. You can probably find some floating around.

Okay, the glistco magnistock has served me well for a year and a half of rigorous service, some things to look out for though: The sling it came with can bend at the attachment points really easily so be looking at those so you don’t drop the stock, or get a third party sling The hexagonal pattern on the cups is really cool, but it will crack and fall off over time, just make sure you don’t take the pieces off and the friction fitting still works just fine Try not to have a big drop on the cheek rest, it can damage that height setting and you’ll have to go to the setting above or below it which might throw off your muscle memory and make you search for a sight picture I still do recommend the glistco magnistock for anyone who wants to play with a stock but is a more casual gamer or is a student who can’t quite justify spending a protube amount of money

I had a gun stock that had the controllers that go underneath the gun but after a few play sessions you tend to notice that the tracking of the controller tends to fail pretty easily, this is because the plastic above the controller is thick and the tracking rings can not be detected by the headset so buy carefully.

Id love to see the higg gun stock, obviously with quality improvements. The idea is great, making the vr controllers into a whole other controller, instead of trying to work around them While it is cool to be styled like an M4, I think it would have been better for them to omit the styling and just keep the necessary parts for their design, and of course its probably best that it doesn't look like an actual rifle (at least should have the orange muzzle tip to indicate its not a firearm)

I have MagTube and I think it's the best vr gunstock platform currently. I managed to make it more comfortable and be able to precisely shoot from dual wielding, which is banned on Pavlov pro scene. I wonder waht in 10+ years vr gunstocks would be cable of?

I dunno if you will see this, I am kind of curious about the over under situation. The pro tube seems great buts uses cups, and goes down onto a pipe, that feels counter intuitive, If its cheap I may try it but I was kiwi grips and already have something on the base of my controller that may interfere with the stock, which would really kill my fun if I have to swap or choose between knuckle straps or stock the 3d print is a 3d print. I like everything about it except for that,I live in Australia my room gets very hot so worry about the lifespan, as well as durability cause I know I am gonna bash it, but it looks like a better attachment method and it wont interfere with my kiwi grips either so I dunno it would be good i already be used to pro tube since I want an index someday it just looks like a risky pick for me, I will keep looking into it but if you see this I would love an opinion from someone who may have experience

If you want to keep using your Kiwi straps AND you prefer the intuitive way of holding it (controllers underneath) then go for the 3d print. But honestly, protube is the best option overall and will work better in most games

Yeah.. they’re only advertised by word of mouth… but they were engineered and produced by one of the games top players to fit needs of competitive players. Super light, super rigid and durable, and with a fixed cup design your controllers are always in perfect alignment for quickly developing muscle memory and super fast to get controllers in and out. To be brutally honest for pure competitive use the Bowk and the Protube are the only 2 to seriously consider. Its also nice that James Bowk provides the files for the components for free if you have access to a 3d printer (library/school) to DIY.

My first gun stock was a Diy gunstock i made from a cane and some tubing hold with duck tape. I was very accurate, had no problems finding the tubes easy to use and great to handle. I was even able to snipe like in real life without having to use my left hand to reload. Because how easy it was to use i'm able to snipe really fast without losing sight of my target. My current stock is a Kobra Wolverine, i like it feels good great to handle. But i do miss being able to snipe and changer a round with my right hand, not use to using my left hand.

I have the Etsy 3D printed one and…yeah, bits and pieces of it are broke like the tip of the nozzle and the back but a little duct tape and it’s good as new. Definitely a game changer and makes sniping 100% better. It’s fun to hear people ask “how are you hitting me from so far?!”

I hope at one point the quest will just recognize the workings of any decent airsoft gun or propably toys that might even be self made if they only resemble a certain gun well enough. Shotguns don't work very well with the protube, and deattaching the grips to go for your handgun can go horribly wrong sometimes no matter how good your muscle memory is. Have a holster, some cheap toy gun with mag and movable slide, quest recognizes it, done.

Can the attachment cups for the protube and glissco magne work while you have palm straps on your controllers? (they're the atrix ones that you can get at gamestop for around $20) (one of my wrist straps was snapped so I had to cut it off with scissors because it was getting annoying)
