UPDATE: My 3D printed gun stock recently broke. Right where one of the tubs screws in, it just fell apart. It happened mid game when I didn't even hit it against anything or apply any pressure. I still prefer that style of gun stock (where the controllers attach from below the gun stock) but just know that it is 3D printed material, and will probably break after several months of use. I had been using it for about 9 months or so.

Curious, did you print it yourself? If so what material did you use and what print settings? I made one out of PLA+ so I'll see if that one holds up better.

I have this Sanlaki gunstock because it feels more natural and easier to attach and detach the controllers with the gunstock. My only gripe is that I bump the gunstock with my headset trying to get a closer look of the ironsight or red dot and scope. I think the best gunstock would be a combination of the two. Have your support hand controller use the Sanlaki method under the gunstock and your trigger/strong controller is over the gunstock. Just create the gunstock shape to support it and that when loading mag, it doesn't get in the way.

As a person that has been around firearms my entire life and already have muscle memory for reloads and other movements, I purchased the 3D print stock. I find having the controllers below the tube support muscle memory and one handed sighting.

I have had the 3d printed Gunstock from selanki . It is by far the best it feels like you are holding a real weapon . I have had no issues, except the ring mounts they tend to break , I have learned to simply buy a velcro strap and secure two points on the ring. Since doing this I have not had any issues with breaking

Also sanlaki is a good man and offers his Gunstock 3d print files free . This is very handy when you break something . I want to ad that being a worm piece of 💩 and just getting the files without paying is pathetic. So pay the man and fix when you need to fix your issues

Reloading with the selanki is crappy. Its so hard to rack a bolt and put one in the chamber with alot of the weapons. The only guns I can use comfortably is the AK

The infill of the 3D printed needs to be thicker, when I printed mine I used 70% infill, a lot of overkill but it’s definitely sturdier. Also pretty cheap, only like 5 bucks worth of filament, about 24 hours of my time and some pipe I got from the flea market

If you have the option to print with more perimeters, that is much better than just increasing infill. It will be stronger, especially in regards to screw areas

I'm printing the Sanlaki right now. Just got a 3d printer. If something brakes i'll just print the part again. Although I haven't been able to break any of the parts I print when trying to. Maybe he used low quality settings in the software to get orders out faster.

Yea, but they are fragile tough, i accidentaly broke off the magnet on a 3d printed gun stock by trying to pull it off before i could even get to use it luckily i ripped off the front magnet, and could still use the gunstock., and im a 11 year old kid.

They EXTREMELY help with stability, before in pavlov when i tryed to shoot someone with a sniper rifle i couldn't hit at all, and my gun swayed around like crazy, now with the stock im capable of aiming properly.

flat out I feel like the solution to this is for headsets to natively support many different types of controllers. and just produce a tracked vr gun with working "buttons" so you got something like the pro tube but add a removable mag and everyway to charge a rifle. There isnt that many actually. The mag could be a controller. When reloading you physically take the mag out get it close to where you need to get mags from in game maybe even a little grip button then you physically reload it The charging action can also happen on the "gun" controller and just add a digital bolt action, a m4 charging handle, and a left and right side charging handle, maybe the right one could be shaped like a AK charging handle. That covers almost everything except ww2 weapon. My point is we dont need everything to happen by hand in vr games. if we had this vr gun pulling the charging handle could just press the charging handle button. and reloading could just be removing controller mag (think vive tracker but linked to mags in game) holding it to your chest rig in game pressing a grab button and putting the "new" mag back in. It would cost alot im sure but it would be the best way to control guns in VR, It would also be hard to deal with the VR controllers as I feel like the gun controller needs to have its owe built in tracking. so you would need both but I forsee VR to lose the controllers now that apple isnt having controllers. sorry its really ranty but ive though about it alot, Im a Veteran and I love Milsim games and a good milsim game in vr with proper reloading and all that would be amazing.

I bought the Santaki and I regret it a bit. My main grip is that it's just way too small for someone tall (6'4"-193cm) which means you either have to uncomfortably lean your head or have to hold the stock very high (basically putting the bottom of the shoulder rest on your collarbone in order to make contact with your cheek. It seems to be ok for people under 180 cm but that's it, it's a shame because the protubevr reload is indeed very counterintuitive.

The problem with mounting the controllers underneath is that the tracking can get messed up since the quest reads the lights off the controllers and those get blocked

problem is protubes gun stock they dont think about real life immersion only immersion what i mean is the 3d printed is using what we call real tactic so do to you having your dom hand where the grip and trigger is reason for this is do to the stock being top mounted not bottom tells your brain your holding a gun. as someone that uses firearms and train when using the protube my brain is not set to use bottom mounts right now im reviewing the Deadshot elite which looks like the Kriss Vector but it has problems do to one part being top mount and the dom hand being bottom mounted

Yeah, I usually just don't use it for pump action. Especially cuz that's usually a close range weapon and I don't need perfect aim for that (which is the main benefit of a gun stock).

I have the 3d printed stock. I like it in more realistic shooters but it is cumbersome at times. I would say I like playing using it only for the extra aiming stability it gives. All other aspects of gameplay are harder with it due to having to de-attach and find the barrel to re-attach to all the time. For this reason I find myself often not using it. Just sharing my experience for people thinking of buying one. Do you use this in Pop one Panda?

In pop one, absolutely not. In games like onward where ill be using exclusively one gun, it is helpful. But in a game like population one, this would just be dead weight.

Yea i prefer onward because for the most part and most guns in onward, the guns do relatively the same damage and a bullet to the head is a bullet to the head, period. But Pavlov runs off of that where you shoot a person does a certain amount of damage AND the type of gun. Causing some guns to not kill a person despite shooting the same person 6 times in the head.

I use a Magnistock. Basically a protube without the bar adjustments. I brace the gun with my left hand so that printed one wouldnt even work for me cause you obviously can't put any pressure backwards on the front mount.

I tried the sanlaki and tell you the truth I hate it. The problem is I have a hard time aiming down the sight, the problem is because the gunstock is above the controller, my headset losing the ability to track my left controller because the printed parts covering the view of tracking camera on headset to my left controller. I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem is you are using Quest Pro controller since the tracking camera is on the controller instead on the headset... or maybe you just using hipfire all the time it wouldn't be a problem So if you are planning to buy one of sanlaki gunstock I suggest you try it first before you buy it.

Never buy the gun stock which lies over the controller rings. Such gun stocks block the IR emitters surrounding the rings. It makes the controllers jump to strange coordinate all the time. Protube VR is not 100% perfect but much more flexible to play with.

pro tube is better in every way. yes its expensive but its work every penny. and i feel like the 3d printed gunstock would break within a week of game play. just get the proTube. you don't have to have carbon fiber tubes but it does expand the life of the stock a lot pros- you get better aim its help you get more immersed and much more! cons- you have to get used to it. * doesn't take that long tho you can damage your controllers from hitting the gunstock on accident cant think of anything else.
