This is interesting I was blond and colored my hair darker because í have medium contrast..i needed more color and feel more fresh. And I can’t do reds it washes me out..ashy brown with little golden hue is perfect 👌 makes me more fresh faced🎉

I’ve been loving your videos!! I am planning to go to cosmetology school in about a year. For now I’m doing my best to learn what I can before! Understanding skin tone and what looks best is such a great skill and tool to look your best! Although I’m still not confident at figuring out others skin tone.. I think I have a pale neutral-cool skin tone, medium brown natural hair color and hazel/yellow/brown/olive eyes. The closest I can figure is that I’m a soft summer. I hope I’m right because I’m going blonde again lol and working up towards a dirty blonde color

Hi Carol, I realize this is quite an old video but I hope you see this question and might help me with this question. I am a Light Spring with mild rosacea. I find my hair colour severely changes the amount of redness that reflects in my face. I had my analysis done by another Toronto professional but she simply said my natural colour is the best, while that might be true for others, someone with facial redness isn't the same. Would love your advice!

I have light, warm skin - an autumn and have gone silver since I became chemically sensitive to hair dye. My already wide jaw looks wider and the color also washes me out as it's coming in almost white. Ways to compensate for those of us who can't use hair dye?

Last time I dyed my medium blonde hair a light blonde, I used a lot of silver toner to reduce the warm tone. I let the hair grow out and thought, I shouldnt go blonde anymore, my skin is so white that there isn´t any contrast at all. At the beginning oft this year I finally recognized that I´m a Light Spring (what was such a relief to me and my love for warm colours and I can´t tell you what else in my life), and now I dyed my hair once more light blonde. But this time I tried to use the silver toner a bit more cautious. It´s a big difference! Not super easy, I´ll have to experiment with peroxide and colour to replace the silver conditioner with something more lasting, but yayyy... :-D Best wishes from Germany to you and thank you so much for your wonderful videos and inspiration you send through them!!

Oh, thank you, I´ll check this out. :-) In fact I just send my email to get access to your app and hope that the link will be there soon (now that I got a newer smartphone that can do apps XD)! I don´t know how it is in Canada, but here it can be tough to find the light and bright colours (warm even more than cool), so it´d be super helpful having a tool for a quick check of the colours.

I wouldn't call Light Spring bright though... Palette is neutral-warm undertone, light value and medium intensity (not too bright, not too soft... In middle of intensity scale).

Ahhh I see! I have to admit the terms I know are a little influenced by another colour system where Light Spring colours are called bright, too (though lightened up with white and therefore a bit softened and in some hues even softer), but I know it´s not super bright.

I think my skin is undertone cold (purple blue circles) and I think my eyes are cold (dark brown and very little green) but my hair is medium brown with orange highlights but I don't know if I should count my hair is warm because when I wear royal blue my face is lit up and on the contrary for mustard red I don't know if I'm deep cold winter or deep autumn🤔

Interesting video...my natural color is a medium brown with slight gold highlights. Many hair colorists want me to put more red in, but it’s hard to just have the right amount of highlights...my husband says keep it brown, with just a little red. So, I am still a bit confused. But when use “light ash brown” I feel drab..., so I liked this video, but am still not sure what’s the best for me. Especially with some gray mixed in...go lighter?

😢 I am very disappointed that, so far, I have seen no information regarding naturally gray/silver/white hair, and how it comes into play in choosing my colors. There are a LOT of us out here with various shadings of gray hair... who love it and purposely choose to keep it. That said, although I would rather not, I would consider at least some color tweaking to my hair if it was enhancing to my overall look. Previously, my natural hair was a very dark brunette with a smidge of red undertone, only in summer months. However, it is now silver and white with just a hint of dark remaining here and there. I am medium to deep olive in completion. As much as I love my hair color, on occasion, I now feel a bit washed out as I have always worn a clear, bright and strong winter color pallet. My hair color change presents quite an adjustment to me! But as I say, I desire to remain gray, but would consider adding some darkness back in the root area and /or as lowlights, etc., to retain some of my strong contrast (more likely through the use of hair powders, as they would not be permanent nor as potentially damaging to my fine, thin, delicate hair.) -Bottom line... I remain open minded to your suggestions as to what would be best for me. I have just found you, and am watching videos. PLEASE address us gray haired gals in all of your color analyses! I am sure you can understand my reservation to investing in a detailed color analysis if such a predominant feature, such as my hair ( my hair is also long... below my shoulders) is not included. Perhaps I have missed some crucial videos regarding this? If so, please advise. Thank you so much for your consideration... and for sharing all of your expertise! Have a lovely day.

Unfortunately there is no one size fits all answer to this so that's why I only address it with clients who I have analyzed and gotten to know in terms of colour analysis and style goals. Going grey and tweaking natural grey are very personal decisions with multiple inputs beyond colour analysis in my opinion. Also I don't believe in matching clothing colours with hair colour... always best to match clothing colours with YOU in my opinion. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🌟💖🎨

Carol Brailey Thanks for your input. As far as matching clothing colors to “you”, I agree, yet come up with a (somewhat) different direction at the same time! Seems to me, who is undisputedly, NOT the professional, your hair IS part of “you”... it goes with you wherever you go, it is a constant just as are your eyes, your brows, lips, etc. Therefore it should be included as it is SO very impactful on your overall appearance... far more obviously, I would think, than the patterns found in your eyes... even if they consistently result in a certain outcome for each pattern. You have said that other certain hair colors belong or do not belong with certain seasons, and each of those hair colors have varying shades , highlights, etc. within them. Perhaps I am incorrect on that. -Hopefully, This will come together clearer more for me as I go further.🤞🏼 I will watch the videos you suggested, as I am sincerely trying to learn.
