Virtually all those neutral colours would work for me - but I think I'm probably neutral warm. Btw, I hate both yellow gold and brilliant silver on my skin - and always look for what I describe to myself as 'cool golds' and 'warm silvers' - if at all possible! Strange perhaps, but true.

Same! I like mixed colors often, the in between colors the most, but every tone seems to not effect my "radiance" at all. Definitely prefer rose gold! Perfect mix of cool pink and warm yellow undertones. 🙂

@@DoveLoveMoon. Gold looks best on me, but I prefer what they call KC Gold, which is a lighter gold (not so brassy). Search it, in online catalogs, or ask jewelers if they carry it! I am warm, but prefer KC gold, because I’m a Light Spring. Some golds are too dark for my fair skin. That can be overpowering, though shiny and bright are nice, on Light Springs, so a light, bright yellow works, on me. KC gold is more light than bright, so it works well for neutral skin undertones, too! I like rose gold, but I have that redhead skin that flushes pink/red, so the copper tone rose gold works best with my warmth and ruddiness (the blush tone rose gold kind of disappears. on me). I think the blush tone has a better balance of warm and cool, though. That’s probably great on you! Copper tone rose gold is often recommended for Autumns. I love it, but only the lighter varieties. If it actually resembles copper, that’s too dark for me. Any copper tone is quite warm, but the blush can look good on light and warm, neutral and cool complexions. I actually like blush on my wrist or neckline, because they aren’t as yellow as the back of my hand. I like both copper and blush, but prefer fully warm rimgs. My wrists and décolleté aren’t cool, but they have less pigment. Do you prefer copper or blush? The blushiest blush might be too cool, now that I think about it! Nothing is strange, to me. We humans come in so many varieties! P.S. KC gold is less yellow, so it works for neutrals and less bright, so it can work on muted skin, too. Temperature and bright vs. muted…two different things (the terminology gets me, sometimes…lol).

Being neutral is complicated. My eye appears to have a halo, specking, wheel and flowering. I would say I'm neutral with slight coolness. I always wear neutral toned foundation. I can't wear a full blown cool or warm toned foundation but if it's slightly pink that's ok. I look best in colours like navy blue, teal, deep purple and maroon. Colours like orange and yellow do nothing for me and a cool toned red lipstick suits me while a warm toned one doesn't as much. I can pull off both warm and cool toned hair (as a kid my hair was light honey blonde which is a warm tone and then it went dark dirty blonde which is a cool tone!) but I prefer either neutral or cool (without going full ash. I feel like I need SOME degree of warmth).

My coloring sounds very much like yours. Can't wear very dark or very bright (but some clear colors are good. Decent color analyst not in my area. I haven't tried reds in lipstick, compliments all say "it goes so well with your hair" (when dyed a little warmer). Otherwise, they were from people obviously stating their own strong preferences in colors generally. Except light gold-ish tan, when I was little and my hair was that color, unless I include universal colors. Very fair and very freckled, burn like mad then very gradually tan a little. Genetics-strong Norse otherwise Scot and English. Father, olive skinned. Warm pink and mint seem best. Totally up in the air! Eye (grey-green) has pale yellow starburst, small brown area by pupil, strong outer rim. I keep going round and round with warm vs cool. Fair Soft Summer?

yes! those neutral swatches are some of my best colours. I gravitate towards anything that is fairly neutral, medium value and lower-medium intensity, but it's not something that sits easily with most colour systems! I've got a winter blue-grey stream base to my eye with an olive overlay and a little mustard coloured shadow halo thing in the middle.

I liked this video as soon as you said that you don't like the vein test. I have blue veins but I am neutral warm 😅 Makeup artists have always slathered warm foundation on me and I always wondered why it appeared a bit much for my skin. My skin definitely has golden undertones to it but it does not scream i'm golden like those who are completely warm toned. I can pull off silver and gold jewellery but gold definitely looks far better. My eyes are a dark chocolate brown but have a subtle warmth to them. My hair is naturally a dark ashy brown but looks better with highlights or when it is a dark honey blonde

I used to think I was neutral, to a good degree, because I have skin that flushes red, but have a warm undertone. I also get red and blotchy, from long term prednisone. Thanks to your videos, I finally understood why I was determined to be Spring, not Tonal Light or Summer. Thanks for letting me know that skin conditions or medication side effects are not undertone! Also, that people who are very fair (particularly, people with the redhead gene) often have some redness or pinkness that shows through, as with blue veins). It’s not the blue-leaning or muted pink you see on people with cool undertones. My natural blush tones range from peachy-pink to tomato, which belies a warm undertone, because there is yellow added. Now it all makes sense! My yellow-orangey hair and bright green eyes ARE consistent with my skin tone. Before, I thought I had mixed features.

Thank you for your video. I appreciate your comment on the veins, as I totally agree. I have both visible blue and green veins which is quite confusing. Looking at my skin in isolation you can clearly see a yellow undertone, however due to my veins i didnt feel that i could be a warm undertone. So i thought possibly neutral warm, as I have worn many colours in my life with ease.

@@carolbrailey. So do I! I would love to book a session, sometime, to check my previous results against yours. I have some questions! From your posts, I believe your results are very accurate. I think that’s because, as well as being extremely knowledgeable, you are objective. You don’t make assumptions, based on what season a typical person of the same lightness, darkness, or contrast level would fall into. You always look at what the colors say. Objectivity is supposed to be a given, but I have been in the social sciences long enough to know people have biases and some let it color their opinion (perhaps, literally, in your field). I’ve heard from people who got different results, from different experts. I trust your analysis. Some say color analysis is not a science. I think that’s nonsense. Any subject matter is science, when objectivity and scientific principles are applied. For example, a biology professor told me his wife is as much a field biologist as he is, despite having a B.A., not a Ph.D. She feeds orphaned wild animal babies and sees if they survive and thrive, or not. She advises others on their feeding, based on her results. Like she does, you have studied theory, have a considerable sample size and receive feedback on your results. It’s not a peer-reviewed journal, but hands-on research is more reliable, in some respects, because you’re not in an echo chamber. You certainly receive feedback from experts and I respect that you accept criticism of your methods or not, based on your knowledge, experience and client feedback. I think it’s ridiculous that some reject online analysis, without examining your methods and media. When books were invented, there were undoubtedly people who thought they were not a good teaching tool. There are still anti-intellectuals who frown on “book learning.” Any medium is a tool. What matters is the expertise of the person who employs it.

I look okay in all those colors!! No wonder it's so hard to tell what season I am!! The colors that look bad on me most are very pale pastel colors. I can wear black AND white. I can wear golden brown AND blue grey AND yellow and orange and navy and grey... My hair is generally in the dark blonde-light brown range. I'm 53 now. My eyes are hazel -- they range from warm grey to blue-gray to a dark green, depending on the color to I'm wearing. Orange and yellow and browns make them blueish. Grays and certain greens come off grey or greenish. I have a topaz starburst around my pupil and a dark green ring? Dark BLUE ring? around my iris. My lashes are black. My skin is peaches and cream, no freckles.

I was color analyzed as a spring many years ago in my teens. However I always thought I looked good in silver as well as gold jewelry. Every time I went to a makupe counter they would put natural colors on my eyes and blend burgandy with pink lipstick. I got told just looking at me I was cool by a few people. I started to believe them but either the strong summer colors were to overpowering or the spring brights were to overpowering. I've been confused for a long time. Am I cool or warm. I started to wonder if I might just be a neutral. Well after your vidio eye patterns I looked in my eyes and found they have a starburst with yellow orange flecks and a halo. I don't see any cloudiness or a definatly wheel. This has narrowed my blue eyes down to warm for me! I have discovered the reason I have a problem with the super bright spring colors is because I am a light spring. I'm very fair with blond hair that is graying some . I love muted pastels but I look better in the soft spring color, I realize and that's why I get confused with summer because we are both so fair but their is a fine line between us. So in comparing both cool soft Colors and soft warm colors, I look best in the soft spring colors! Your eye pattern vidio solved this long time debate for me . Thank you! The woman who analyzed me in my teens was right because she looked at my eye pattern. Of course I can wear both gold and silver. They both look good on me.😊

Hey i know this is an older video but i sometimes have some color issues lol ... i am multiracial. I have ... its like distinct color blocks of skin tones on my face. Like my Tzone is DISTINCTLY native american bronze-y toned. And the outside of my face is DISTINCTLY olive undertoned. I actually do pretty well with clothing color and hair colors etc., my issues are with actual makeup, i have accepted that i probably will need to use more than one foundation color but i am still having trouble. Since makeup companies are actually breaking their colors down better now, it is easier to find those cool-neutral or warm-neutral shades etc. But literally any help you could give me i would appreciate. My eyes are EXTREMELY dark brown, almost black, so eye analysis is difficult, the only eye pattern i can see at all is small striations of color from my pupil to the outside of the iris. But my "power colors" are a deep true red (#1 absolutely bestest color) .. followed by all the other deeper gemtones .... and some of the winter brights as well. So i consider myself mostly autumn, with some winter "influences" or leanings i guess? ... i look great in both gold and silver but rose gold is my very best metal tone. Any advice you could give me about the makeup situation? I know its difficult without actual pictures ...

Hi! I just found your videos yesterday, they are a new hope to find my skin undertone! I was doing my eye pattern analysis and I think I have both a halo and a flowering pattern. But I'm actually not sure if the halo is in fact a starburst pattern... What are the differences? I also have a wheel rim pattern! I really want to know if I have a halo or not, because I want to have blonde hair! By the way, does having 2 cool traits and 1 warm trait mean that I am neutral cold or am I just neutral and have to further examine?

Thanks for watching! Hard to say through words re your eye pattern, the video you refer to has examples. If you aren't sure of your diy analysis, I would do nothing to adjust your natural hair colouring ... You could waste a whole bunch of time and money implementing results that don't make you sparkle if you are not sure. See my video on my thoughts about in person, online and diy analysis. Number of eye patterns in your eye (if they are eye patterns) don't factor in. You either have fully cool, fully warm or both cool and warm in your eye. Thanks again for watching! 💖🌟🙏 Ps - With neutral, for a diy analysis, you always have to fully examine further (step one discussed in video).

I’m often told I have neutral skin tone when I shop for foundations. What usually happen is, The neutral foubdation turn kinda red/orange or pink on me. They make my blue eyes pop, and look bright, but my face look discontected from my neck and chest. It also tend to make my hair very cool. Cool tone foundation is a BIG no. I look pink or like liverpate! Yellow I feel work best, but can sometimes look too yellow. It brungs out warmth in my hair, however, but my eyes does not look as vibrant. Yellow tone foundation match with my neck and chest. When I look at my skin, it is a bit yellow.

I’m still boggled by my undertone. I ruled out cool because a muted cool rose/mauve dress turned me completely grey and ilL. I knew nothing of color theory at the time , it was just striking how awful andsick I looked in that dress! Later I assumed it was because it was cool. However, now I think it’s because it was so faded. It might have been value(?) more than the coolness (coolth? 🙂). My eye-pattern has a halo, a starburst, and (ithink )a wheel! Though I maybe reading everything wrong 😀)

Hi, thank you for sharing your immense knowledge. I taught college for years, including a course in preparing students for cooperative education internships. Since all needed professional suits for interviewing, and some thought it was hopeless for them because they did not look good in navy or gray, etc I had a professional color analyst come and provide season color analysis for our students. The students and I loved the process and their ability to find their own great colors for both professional and personal clothing. The 3rd time the analyst came she asked to do my colors. I was wearing colors that were mostly spring colors, and which I liked on me and so did she--but overall the core Spring colors looked terrible. Then we went to Autumn--same results, then summer, nope; then Winter--no again. My undertones were truly neutral--but she finally decided on summer. I can not wear the muted or really light summer colors--but the deep navy, charcoal gray, soft white, medium pinks, true or blue reds, deep denim blue, and chocolate brown, lots of greens are good. The Summer mauves, light purples, light pinks or light yellow, light or medium gray, rose browns, tans etc are truly horrible. The bright navy of Spring, as well as soft aquas, medium clear lemon yellow, coral pinks, watermelon, and greens all work. In Autumn the teal blues and deep green blues are great, and in Winter the deep clear purples, medium blues and pinks are good--but not any of the icy or super intense colors, white or solid black. Black is good as a background color in prints for me. She worked hard and long and all my students finally agreed that my home season should be Summer. I am so thankful to have come across your videos--they explains so many questions that have been in the back of my mind for years. It explains why certain colors from other seasons look very good on me and why so many in my Summer palette do not. For foundation to work for me it must be truly neutral or it looks terrible --slightly warm and I look sallow or orange, or cool makes me look gray or pinkish. If my foundation is correct then both warm and cool pinks look great for blushes. I am excited to watch your eye coloration video, as I believe I will learn a lot more. I will be heading over there right now. Thank you again for so kindly sharing your vast talents with us on KZbin. :) Blessings to you.

It’s so great that you did that for your students! It works wonders for confidence! I had a very hard time feeling credible and professional, because my very ruddy skin looked sloppy, with many colors. I had even been asked if I’d been drinking, or had a fever and been told not to come to work sick (muted colors also make me look yellow and pale). I had assumed I had a red/pink undertone and was cool, so Summer. My rosy, round face and light reddish blonde hair had me looking childlike in certain clothes. I finally was analyzed to be Light Spring and tried colors I assumed would look terrible, like lime green. That ended up being my best color. It is bright, like my skin and the red seems to disappear against it. That and light, bright yellows, aqua and some oranges neutralize it. Lights and brights people often think of as professional actually make me look credible and pulled together. I can see how color analysis is valuable for anyone starting a new career or position. That was a very valuable lesson you facilitated!

I’m Light Spring and have read many sources which say that when Light is one’s dominant feature, wearing light metals is often more important than temperature. For example, the lighter KC gold, rather than a darker gold. Platinum, rather than rhodium or titanium, or just lighter silver, rather than “antiqued” silver, which has gray or black in it. Still, Summers often look better in hammered, unpolished, or semi-polished silver and Springs, in shiny, polished silver. If you’re a fair skinned Autumn or Winter, I’m not sure if the same applies. It could be a sign of neutrality, but if you’re very light and have lower contrast between features (2 or 3 of each, hair, eyes and/or skin), you might just be a light season and/or subtype which often looks good in both gold and silver. I think this is more common among Springs than Summers, but I’m not an expert. I’m just a warm Light Spring who had to do a lot of research, before I could save up to pay for color analysis. I’d be interested to hear what Carol has to say about this!

Unfortunately, I never use celebrities as examples because for one to validate their undertone and colouring, they need to be without makeup, if they colour their hair - it should be covered, they should be in natural daylighting etc. Also photos of celebrities may have filters, colour variations etc. I've done a video of someone with a neutral-warm undertone at this link - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXmmhJVuqZidfNE and someone with a neutral-cool undertone at this link - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3izn32Lrc-njs0. Hope this helps!

Thanks very much Carol! I definitely think I am "Deep." I have been confused about undertones for me as I do believe I fall into this neutral/olive zone and sometimes hair colorists want to add red to my hair (which I am not crazy about) and some makeup people tell me I am olive and recommend cool foundations while others recommend warm! Neither seem quite right! You are the first I came across that has this deep/neutral-warm category which I think is my match. Have to study my eyes closer though to be sure! Thanks again. It's all very interesting to me.

I’m neutral I have yellowish undertone but I don’t have any bluish anything so what does that mean? Every color you showed are colors that look good on me. I was told I was Neutral a long time ago. Autumn colors look really good on me. I was told not to wear pure white but an off white.

Hi! I have neutral colours (eyes and skin undertone), medium to dark (ashy) brown hair (5.1); and a MAC shop assistant said that I have a neutral and rosy skintone (Studio Fix N4.75). Am I a Deep Winter?

I thought the same about me, but yellow hair colours didn't work for me even though I have naturally golden and ashy strands depends on sun influence. So I had an colour analysis with draping and covered hair and surprise I am a summer type. The problem was I have yellow overtones, but slightly pinkish undertones, which get overwhelming when I wear extremely warm colours, years after years I was desperate to pull of yellow dresses, but no chance even though I have yellowish looking ivory skin on the first glance. As a neutral chances are good you are a soft autumn or a soft summer, depends on if you are more on the warmer or on the cooler side. (undertone matters) Best is getting a professional draping.

"Rare" is not "impossible"! Celiac Disease is rare, but I have it, and I also think I'm true neutral. Those colours you held up are my best by far! So if I go order your virtual colour card do I choose "Universal Colour Card"? Thanks!!!

Okay yall. I am super pale. Not white ashen translucent but P A L E. I have OLIVE and grey skin undertones with like the slightest bit of yellow and pink. My eyes are (and I have compared to others with this, its rare but hey that's me ) blue-green grey. (Google it, its exactly right) golden and green near the pupil, dark blue grey around the cornea. My natural hair is a light ash brown with red highlights. Easily the warmest feature I have. P lease, h e l p me.

As a professional makeup artist if I may make a suggestion? Maybe put on a little blush/lipstick and mascara....it would really make a difference.
