@@harackmw I would take Elex any day over this by the price/performance difference from my own experience. Still have some issues like the pads situation (now fixed) or driver clipping . From the comments it looks like either Arya or LCD-2 are nice too depending on your taste. And you can laugh at me but even HD600/650/660S/560s are possibly more enjoyable than this. I personally use OG Clears and was also ready to jump to new MG model but after the reviews I'm glad I did not. New stuff is not always better than old in audio. @@garfycat2227 Yeah, like I get it when cables can be pretty expensive, not not that 1600 expensive for a cable that only does is to transmit audio. Sorry but I just can't justify to watch headphone manufacturers trying to sell the same crap for even higher prices year after year and call it of course “the best headphone ever” every single time. It just seems like a money scam for weak-minded people. Then wait for the next big flagship with slightly different frequency response, rise the price again, wait for the reviews to shill for it and the circle goes on. There is simply no way the real manufacturing costs are this high. In reality maybe 700 max for this one. Not even headband is properly padded like with any Abyss headphones. btw Not trying to tank Josh here....great quality videos and top notch editing but I really don't like where this is going. Manufacturers will always push higher prices for supposedly better products if there are people who will buy them no matter what.

Nice Video. But think the summit has to be the Sennheiser HE1. An electrostatic with it's dramatic tube amplifier that's over the top. Sounds like nothing else too despite claims from other manufacturers, the difference is audible unfortunate for others claiming to be the absolute best. No competition though as its USD 59,000 and the dream set up for many headphiles. After winning the lottery has to be a first buy though waiting list is quite long for this one even at this price - only 250 made every year. But as in all things personal taste and preference matters most! So Happy Listening and Happy New Year. And remember the best headphones is always the one in your head, hahaha.

It was pretty clear that these would be the headphones you would make the video on and as much as I appreciate your opinions I can't help but disagree with some of the comparisons. I think the only upside either the Diana TC or AB 1266 TC has over the Susvara is that it doesn't require as much amplification to run. Obviously amplification is a huge factor and investment but if we're talking about the pinnacle of headphone sound they cannot be left out of the equation. I do believe with the setup you used, you believed the Diana TC was the best headphone you've listened to but with the way you're able to so adamantly state that the AB 1266 TC sounds better than the Susvara, and that the Diana TC is a more comfortable version and better than the Ab 1266 TC, it does makes me wonder what amp was used with the Susvara. Now I'm not trying to change your mind but I would like there to be a fair comparison since its possible that you can run the Susvara loud enough but it won't be even close to its full potential. I do feel like theres some recency bias in your opinion (maybe not) but I would love to hear a comparison after running the Susvara on sufficient amplification such as the Bakoon 13r, Enleum 23r, WA33, WA HeadTrip 2, Nimbus US 5+, or some higher end speaker amps. Personally, I feel even with all the new headphones coming out like the Diana TC, LCD 5, Meze Empyrean Elite, the old king Susvara paired with one of these aforementioned amps, is still the one to beat as an overall headphone. One thing I found weird is that you didn't mind going from the tall and wide Arya soundstage, to the even wider and more holographic Abyss 1266 TC soundstage, back down to a pretty confined soundstage in the Diana TC. I'm curious what changed?

One thing I’ve learned from watching reviewers: everyone perceives sound differently. Some love bass, some mids, some treble, some love detail, some tonality. For me personally its all about enjoyment. I said this before somewhere else, but I bought the Susvara, LCD 5, Utopia, and the Meze Elite to try. Kept the Meze Elites and sent everything else back. I know folks argue about technical performance but clarity and detail are not always enjoyable. I would much rather be in row 5 of the orchestra rather than 6” from the first violin. To much detail detracts from enjoyment. As an example I use a TV purchase. If you’ve ever bought a 4k or 8k TV and had it professionally adjusted, the first thing the tech will do is turn down the color saturation and turn off the sharpness. For me music is much the same. I want to hear detail, but I want a very balanced sound, lifelike tonality, and decent sound stage and imaging. No headphone is perfect (not possible unless you have separately tuned magnetics for bass, mids, and treble. The other thing that is important to me is comfort. I need the physical headphone to disappear on my head. To each his own, but remember when a reviewer is talking technically comparing headphones the differences are very small. As a general rule, $500 or less will get you 80% of nirvana, $500-$2000 will get you to 90% nirvana, and over $4K will get you to maybe 95% nirvana.

I also don't feel the difference between cans are explained well by "the law of diminishing returns", and especially so when hunting for treasures second hand :-) What I do agree with is that the Mezes are the most luxurious resting place a head with two ears attached could get. I love my LCDMX4, LCD2, K1000, HD800 and the whole lot of them. Never tried Focals except Utopia and they are my cup of tea, along the same vein as the MX4, but not better, (to me) and I haven't heard anything better than my 007 on Mjølnir Audio Kgsshv, or my other cans on my SuSy Dynalo 2 by Felitsa :-) I have found my sweet spot, and it seems you guys have to :-)

@Trio3224 2 жыл бұрын
I'm also curious about this. I don't think any measurements have been done for this headphone yet, but many top headphones don't have the "best" measurements in terms of adhering to a particular curve. Like look at the Audeze LCD-X or LCD 4 or something like the Campfire Andromeda. None of those technically measure well but they are very very highly regarded by most ppl I've seen. My guess is that the measurements only represent the type of sound that it's trying to achieve. And it doesn't necessarily say how well it achieves that sound. I know I have a few headphones that don't measure well but I enjoy them a lot like my Modhouse Argons or the Philips X2. They just do different things than a more "balanced' headphone like my Sennheiser HD 560S. I think measurements usually only give you a rough approximation of what kind of sound they will make. From my experience at least.

Ofcourse this is TC is NOT better! Haha He obviously has no care for soundstage and most probably doesn't have the other two (1266 & susvara) headphones properly amped. They both have largest bass as well. He is clearly still in a "honeymoon period" with the DianaTC, where he cannot be impartial. Otherwise he is correct about the LCD5, but also gives it too much credit as well, as the LCD5 is a disaster with skewed trebles, so much so that cymbals are half there.

@@chipsnmydip Yes, they make headphones that sound pleasing to some people, but they also make objectively terrible headphones and charge a premium for it. It doesn't have to be that way. Other companies exhibit much higher levels of engineering, make great sounding headphones, and don't ask you to pay huge amounts of money for them for no apparent reason. The relatively good build quality doesn't justify that huge price. And then you have a few KZbin reviewers proclaiming these the greatest things they've ever heard, the company puts those comments on their website, and the same KZbin reviewers continue their praise whenever they get another one these to review. And people with lots of money to spend buy into the hype and that company, which also sells cables as part of another scam, profits from it.

Listened to a lot of high-end headphones, not impressed by any of them. All of them are overhyped and overpriced, and abyss headphones do not even reach the level of mediocrity in terms of their performance. Don't fall for this paid marketing; abyss headphones are poorly made, poorly tuned, unnatural sounding, grossly overpriced pieces of cow dung. The reason why this is "the best sounding headphone he has heard" is due to the fact that he's selling 500grams of material for 5000 USD, it's that simple.

What is the transport, DAC, amplifier, sources, etc., that you're listening to in order to come to your conclusion. Not being a dick but at this price point one needs to understand why you came to this conclusion. Much appreciated and I do respect your videos and opinions. I understand the A90 but there are better amplifiers out there for this level of headphone since one could consider the A90 a mid-fi tier of amplifier.
