So if you are interested here are a few common terms he of speedrunning he may have used in the vid: Split: A specific section of the game that needs to be completed. You can see the personal best and current time on the right for each split. RNG: Random Number Generator. Basically any part involving randomness or unpredictable events. Here he talkes about Uumuu's RNG attacks and Hollow Knight's parries which are RNG. Storage: A form of glitch where one saves or "stores" a character animation/state and uses it when its not intended to be used. Here he mentions wall cling storage. Damage Boost: A form of glitch or exploit where one takes damage and uses it to go faster, like using knockback.

After running Celeste for a couple years, it's fascinating to see what is considered optimized movement in other games. I'm guessing that tricks like the acid skip are about as precise as a demo dash through spikes, but a lot of other movement here seems more based on reaction than precision. That might make it really fun to run, since it's not as predictable.

The acid skip is definitely much harder than a demo dash (at least the qga one) because you have to time the super dash perfectly and then time the jump to get up nearly perfectly as well. But yes celeste has an abundance of precise movements while hollow knights is very limited, but bc of the way that hk speedrunners have to think on the fly with geo and enemy placements/movements makes hk just as difficult or harder to get good times.

Celeste also basically never locks you out of activation of a movement unless you've already used it while in air. Celeste basically let's you go as fast as you can manage your inputs. Hollow Knight does not. It has a bunch of slowdown mechanics you have to account for, like landing recovery frames and knockback from swinging your weapon forwards at enemies. The precision of the acid skip is that you have to time your crystal dash and jumps within tiny frame windows that aren't necessarily visually obvious on both sides of the wall, as opposed to just going the exact moment you touch the wall as you would in Celeste. Regardless of the differences, both games are gems.

The thing that blows my mind is that there is definitely room for improvement. If Uumuu and the Hollow Knight cooperated a bit more, a shorter time could definitely be reached. I noticed a lot of other things that could also give you a bit of time save.

My time was 1:56:25, didn't go for any of the extra upgrades like the Monarch Wings or the Shade Soul -- Nothing outside what was described as necessary for the run..... I, at first, tried doing this in *Steel Soul.....* Very wise, I know..... Having failed twice, both during "Segment 7" of the guide -- _First time to the _*_Great Husk Sentry_*_ just after marker 10 _*_(Safety Bench) of the guide,_*_ second time to the short gauntlet of _*_Sentries_*_ before _*_Isma's Tear_* -- I finally decided, hesitantly and very resentfully, to complete the challenge on Classic. I died twice during the main run -- Once to the Watcher Knights, as I had not mastered the strat you gave, nor had I mastered the parameters of their attacks, and I died the other time to *(GET THIS)* Uumuu.... I was confounded and wordless.... Baffled that *THAT* was even possible, I couldn't believe it.... _Anyways...._ I died roughly 10-12 times to *The Hollow Knight,* I couldn't keep a precise count, and the fight was so fast I'd be dead before I could. And, yeah, it was his head most of the time, good lord.... But I still persevered. Again, thank you.
