Aliex, the reel is a good reel for getting splashed on but it is not rated for submersion. Fresh water shouldn't hurt it if properly lubed, but If dropped in salt water it should be taken apart and cleaned / lubricated as soon thereafter as possible. IPX7 is waterproof, lesser ratings are not.

Keep us posted on the durability of the rod itself. I've heard/seen plenty of complaints it breaking (fish on) the eyes freying line or popping out.

I love my spinfisher 6 4500....but i did drop mine in roughly 12-15 ft of water. Took me about 20 minutes to drag the bottom to find it. After about a week of no use,i grabbed it to get ready to go out and it was froze up. I opened it and water fell out....cleaned it up and put new grease and oil. It works just fine,but it doesnt feel like it did. I was suprised the water got into the reel and didnt drip out.

I have a lot ! I still have my grandfathers original penn spinfisher freebie and guess what ? It still functions perfectly ! I now have a huge collection of spin fishers and slammers and have fought everything from black tips off the beach to king salmon spawning in the rivers and they handle everything I can throw at them and then some ! For the price you can’t go wrong . With minor maintenance they will last you a life time .

Went to check out reviews of the Spinfisher vi when considering buying a new reel. I’m expecting to find random reviewers and then I see my guy Aliex has a review! @@AliexFolgueira haha how do you think I got to looking at new reels in the first place? That video! That is my favorite video you did at iCast and Steve did a good job explaining it. Too much for me but that bit at the end about the Fierce 4 being sealed had me start looking. It’s either get a new reel or put a hitch on my car and get one of those sweet fishing carts you and Alfred showed at the end of the walkthrough on his channel. I don’t think Nissan makes a hitch 😂. Which is the real difference between Slammer III and this Spinfisher VI?

The slammer is bigger, has a very strong drag

Slightly better sealing. Better/smoother gears. Better handle. More line capacity. Definitely a better reel than the spinfisher,but might not be worth the extra money.
