This is my new favorite kitchen tool! Day 1 I was going to pressure cook a meat kzbin.infoUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and potato stew, decided I wouldn't eat it that night so I went with a slow cook so I could go to bed and put it away in the morning. I love that versatility! The sauté feature works great and adds tons of extra flavor to dishes, and I can easily sizzle meats in the bottom then deglaze for some restaurant worthy flavors.Big bonus - you can cook a whole frozen chicken in about 2 hours. Amazing! I've seen a couple videos, haven't tried it yet, but I will soon!

I liked your little tidbit about how your family added ketchup to your beef stew. Family food traditions are fascinating. Our mother always added canned stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce to her beef stew, usually made from leftover pot roast and veggies (with a few extra veggies thrown in as needed) so we continue that tradition to this day.

He is from Beirut and he makes wonderful Lebanese dishes. We have been trading recipes and he has NEVER had this. I knew I could count on you to have the perfect recipe, as well as easy dump and go. Think I will make some “good ole” southern corn bread to go with this.

I definitely love that you are posting these IP recipes. Please post more recipes that use the double covered mini-pot recipes. I would love information if there are differences in cooking various rices in recipes. For instance, I love to make basmati in place of white rice. I also love to use barley either with rice or even on its own as a sub for white rice. Can most pressure cooker recipes be followed for an IP? Are there any tips for converting slow-cooker recipes? Thank you so much!

NEVER worry about using a pressure cooker. I started using one my wife and I received as a wedding present 48 years ago. Of course it was a sealable pot that was used on the stove. I loved it and after twenty years or so, wore it out and replaced it with another. By the time the second one wore out -- would no longer seal properly because of pits in the rim, I found the Instant Pot. I thought, GREAT, a pressure cooker and slow cooker all in one. Problem is that I'm too impatient for the slow cooker and cook everything with the pressure lid installed. I like being able to simmer something all day in a half-hour.

We did leave the salt n pepper out of our go at this and it came out great. Easy enough to add in afterwards. Makes 4 servings for me though I only put two up in the fridge for left overs. On those I added some "California Cut" mixed vegetables of in shell peas, carrots, squash and peppers? from frozen. There are many choices. Heat up your serving of stew, heat up a good size serving of Vegetables, put em together. After a day or two any stew can start being homogeneous. This renewed it. My wife doesn't like stew or beans so I'll probably halve this to have a couple nights, not one big meal and two extras.

Does the 'release' still cook it? I seared my beef and then added some fresh (celery/onion/potato) and some frozen (peas&corn) and added 4 cups of beef broth (we like a stew/soup) and am actually cooking for 15 min instead of 30 but will also do slow release. I love this channel and try to cook as close as possible to original recipe. We don't like cooked carrots so omitted them but love the onion soup mix idea (I used beefy) can't wait to see how it turns out:)

@mannoman

You can clean it either way. It depends on what you have cooked. I try to hand wash the pot but put it in the dishwasher as needed. By lid liner, I assume you are referring to the silicone seal. I always put that in the dishwasher. Even the lid can go in the dishwasher but I haven't had to do that as yet.

Hello, Kristin! can you please tell me what size IP you are using? I have the 6 qt. Instant Pot Duo Crisp with Air Fryer lid that my Son just gave me for my Christmas and Birthday present. Thank you AND I really like your videos about how to use and recipes. It sat there a couple of days before I got brave enough to open it and hoping it would not blow up the kitchen, me, or it. I was sharing with my family that I cooked water and it turned out excellently so I cooked bacon and it was crispy just like I enjoy it. It was a big step for me to just perform the "water test". I didn't even "jump out of my skin" when I released the pressure at the end. :)

no bud, the beef would cook fine in probably 20 minutes, the potatoes are what actually takes the longest. Instapot cooking takes a bit to wrap your head around, I had the same question as you for a long time. The biggest downside is simply what you would think, all items are cooked to a different "doneness", vs stove cooking ingredients in order like you normally would. It ends up tasting great though and is very easy.
